sorry about my constant ummmming
i was trying to think of what to tell you about the set up that may be important or usable to help.
I'm an ummmmer. enjoy 😉
We decided to start a channel to keep track of and share our progress as we grow our new pressure washing business,
This video goes over the cost of our set up and the equipment we decided to purchase, at this point I have around $2000 in my set up,
As i upgrade, update, or add new things i will share it here with everyone.
update: several small changes have been made to this set up, I no longer carry the 30 or 35gal bins for SH and only use my 3 5gal totes as that is more than enough SH on the truck for what I do.
I filled up the 30gal went and knocked out that 58,000 sq ft Beach front hotel and came home with 20-25 gal still in the tank, so no need to over carry or buy, the 5 gal totes are plenty for now.
I have added 150 ft 3/8 flexzilla to the pressure washer .

Awesome set up bro! Simply amazing man!!! I've been softwashing the old school way (with a pump sprayer lol) but I'm about to do a truck build like yours! I currently have a painting and property preservation company now, but I've been wanting to change things up for the last couple of years and make the switch to full time pressure and soft washing! You look to be at a good start brother very impressive.. Things to keep in mind is you will eventually need at least 50" more of hard line hose and another 150 of soft wash hose if your doing roofs.. Also if you go to the rite person they can hook your direct drive pressure washer to a bulk tank. So a 10o gal tank will be needed..use your 30 gal for flush..so basically I would say all you really need left is 1)100 gal tank 2) 50ft high pressure hose 3) 150 ft low pressure hose 4) Surface Cleaner Keep in mind for the most efienciency from a surface cleaner multiply the gpm of your machine by 4 and that's the limit of your surface cleaner I have a 4gpm I don't use nothing higher than a 16in
@MDCF1565
@MDCF1565 3 года назад
Thank you. I do not do roofs, i now have 150 1/2 inch flexzilla for my 12v system, 150 ft armor guard on my pressure washer, and 100 ft 5/8 Flexzilla in ... I have a 4gpm 4400 and have been using the Erie tools 20 inch surface cleaner with great results so far. I don't need to tote water often so I have no need to roll around with a 100gal for what I do, my 15gal blue SH tank holds way more than I'll need in a day if not I have several 5s 20s 30s 35s gal totes I can use if need be, I like to keep my truck lite. Before starting my business I worked for one of the largest PW companies in my area. This video was more about setting up for under 2500, I'm sure other people would have made other choices that better fit their needs, I got what I knew I needed. Thanks again .

Yo! My setup started off almost exactly the same just over a year ago but made slow, subtle changes. I have the same pressure washer and I’ll use it until it blows up. Get a new down stream injector with quick connects because that one is going to fail quickly. The replacement ball and spring won’t work. Not sure why but it won’t or rarely does for anyone. My favorite recent additions are the proportioner for the 12 volt and J-Rod tips. Good luck out there!

I batch mix prior to the job, I am just part time as I have several other things I do so it was just easier and cheaper to go that route when only doing a few jobs a month. As far as changes there really hasn't been many other than purchasing an extra 100 ft of Flexzilla hose to feed the PW and an extra 50 ft of grey armor guard PW hose other than that it's still the same and working fine. I did get the Erie tools 15 inch surface cleaner with Castor wheels and it works excellent with this machine and set up.

Oh, best tip I could give with my limited knowledge is if you can get the Belt Drive as it has restricted me from doing some jobs. I just had to pass on an entire neighborhood sidewalk cleaning job as I couldn't feed my PW from a tank I need to be hosed in.

Do you have a bypass for when your not pulling the trigger on the pressure washer? If not don't let off that trigger very long you'll burn up that pump. With a bypass it'll go through a hose on the ground when you're not pulling the trigger it'll keep the pump cool by always pushing cool water. You need an external bypass on it. You should look it up. It won't break the bank and it'll save your pump. Look up Jason geiman on youtube that guy covers everything about pressure washing. 👍

Thank you, followed Jason for a while, he sure knows his stuff, that's where I got most of my info, I still need to get the bypass set up, I'm just part time semi retired right now so most of my work is short and sweet, but yes a bypass hose is in the near future ... Take care, be safe ...

Just 1 question? How do you get the water from a tank using the power washer? As far as I know is bad fir the machine to not having flowing water
@MDCF1565
@MDCF1565 3 года назад
The tank is being used as a soft wash tank, and once hooked up a buffer for the pressure washer, I have used it a few times as a pressure washing tank without a water hook up, it is risky, you need to have the tank above the pressure washer water intake in order for it to flow if you have a pressure washer like mine, if you have a belt drive then it will just draw the water for you.

I no longer have my 12v system hooked up as I found very little need for it for simple house washes and driveways, I get everything done just fine with the pressure washer, ... Hey, man. I was worried something happened until I saw you responded to a comment recently. Im starting a similar transition in business and wondered if you had any tips for us since this video was made, if you have you stayed busy this last year, and equipment experiences? 🙏
@MDCF1565
@MDCF1565 2 года назад
I do have a few other things I do so the pressure washing was always part time for me, however YES in the first couple months I was easily able to pay for all of my equipment, I knocked out a 25,558 sq ft hotel SOLO in 6 hours with the equipment I have in the video, to be completely honest I personally do not put the advertisement effort to draw more business but if YOU did, you can make an excellent paycheck in pressure washing and soft wash, the equipment itself still works as well as the day I bought it, the Dewalt 4400 Cranks right up on the first pull every time even after over a years use, just a week ago did 2 home/driveway cleanings for just under 500 each small places but it is still paying for itself many times over, ... As far as personal updates lol 😆, Welllllll .... A couple weeks ago ( Friday) I was rear-ended in my work truck, it knocked my equipment around in the truck, the following Monday still rattled from the accident my head was not in what I was doing and I went to check my equipment stuck my hand directly over the nozzle of my surface cleaner and blew a hole almost all the way through my left palm, I ripped a hole in my palm, ripped the Ulnar nerve completely through, ripped my hipotherior muscles, and the 4400 psi pressure cracked my metocarpal bone between the pinky and palm, the water pressure injecting into my hand blew my hand up like a balloon ripping the skin from the muscle tissue across the whole top of my hand, the ulnar nerves where hanging out the hole. Needless to say it hurt like Phuk. So between the car accident and followed by shredding my left hand I'm out of action for a little while. I need a desk job lol, I feel like I've been run over and blown up. ... Lol, maybe because I just was .... Be safe and keep you head in the game, Even that 4400 psi is enough to do serious damage my hand has lost most of its feeling and some use and will likely take a very long time if ever to recover fully Take care my friend. And be safe. Oh and LGB FJB 😉.

How do you get 150 ft of hose did you connect 3 50 ft together of the armor guard
@MDCF1565
@MDCF1565 2 года назад
Yes, I just hooked them together using a double female connector. The double female connections allow the hose to roll up smoother and less leaking possibilities than using the quick connections that come on them. So far it has worked just fine .

I am just starting to build my soft wash system. I was thinking of using 3/4 hose for better flow. Would that actually be better than the 1/2" hose?
@MDCF1565
@MDCF1565 3 года назад
Honestly I would have no idea, I'm a newbie as well and have not tried 3/4 inch on my set up to see the difference so I wouldn't be able to give you an honest answer on that, I would assume it would allow more flow as long as your 12v pump is a high enough gpm mine is a 5.5 gpm, I do not do roofs i only use my 12v for a hotter SH mix if needed for trouble spots.

@MDCF1565

The 35 gal tank is for my soft wash and to draw sh for my pressure washer but not used as a buffer. I would like to eventually update my set up with a belt drive and use a buffer tank as it would be safer on the equipment but haven't done it yet as everything is still working fine for now the way it is. Lol thank you that black vette got squashed a couple months after the video we have a deep yellow one now. The flexzilla is also 3 x 50 foot lengths, that way I only need to pull out and use the minimal amount needed to reach my customers water hook up. I no longer use the hose reel for my intake hoses I just grab a 50 footer or more as needed.

Why two different reels? Do both spray chemical and water?
@MDCF1565
@MDCF1565 3 года назад
Sorry I missed your question. One reel is for my high pressure pressure washer hose, one is for my 12v set up, the PW hose can only pull 10% SH, if I need a stronger mix of SH I pull out the 12v which allows me to shoot anything from water to straight SH. Hope that helped.

@MDCF1565

Guess it would depend on how you have things set up and what pressure washer you are using, I no longer carry the large 30 or 35 gal unless needed, everything I've cleaned so far the small 5 gal containers have been more than enough SH to do the job, even the 50,000+ sq ft hotel i just did used under 10 gal of SH downstreaming through my 4gpm 4400 psi .

Looking for Insight and advice. I've been watching a lot of SoftWash videos over the last week, and I've got a glimmer of hope but I'm noticing many of the youtuber's have affiliate links, and or sell cleaners/chemicals/products, or systems, and I'm wondering if a Starter Upper can make money with the Actual Soft Washing of houses, or is the money coming from selling systems, chemicals, and youtube ads. I just would hate to invest into a truck, a system, and a year or two of my life for something that doesn't manifest into actual money and a career, I'd hate to put my loves ones and myself through that. I'm looking for honest answer from someone in the know. Thank you and I appreciate it.

Well you came to the right spot. I won't bullshit you. My goal was to do strictly residential homes driveways decks and such NO ROOFS, I was never aiming to do big business and go all out. I invested a little over 2500 into my set up and got the basics of what I knew I needed to get 90% of the PW work done I know I wanted to do, It was slow to start BUT ONLY because of my lack of effort in advertising as I was still unsure of my abilities. I had worked for a large PW company and knew I could do the work but didn't want to overwhelm myself and get over my head. I now have a few dozen jobs behind me Which is not much compared to many chasing the big bucks, my first couple dozen where all simple house & driveway knockouts which paid pretty damn nice for a couple hours work. I would say all my equipment was paid off in the first 8 jobs I did, several months ago I did a 25,558 sq ft 2 story hotel SOLO with my set up in only 6 hours that alone doubled what I had in my business ... So YES there is very big money to be made very fast doing just residential or smaller commercial jobs. But with PW you have to be constantly chasing the work the easiest way is just taking the time to put signs out which I failed to do several times and instantly saw the decline in calls. If you re invest off your jobs and keep those signs out often as possible you WILL make great money. And you do not have to do anything more than the basic residential PW jobs to make it.
@MDCF1565
@MDCF1565 2 года назад
Side note. Yesterday I received a call to do all the curbs in a very nice neighborhood. I DECLINED, I purchased a direct drive PW which needs to be hosed in limiting my abilities. If I would have purchased the belt drive for a few 100 more I could have used a water tank and done the job and likely picking up many of the homes in the neighborhood as well. But again I am ok with that as I have other things I do. Get a belt drive and a good water tank and THERE'S NO STOPPING YOU

Why can't you just use the pressure washer to do it all?? Can't you just use a different nozzle to control the flow and regulate the pressure? Just curious. I use the 12v system mainly to pre soak driveways or odd jobs, Or soaping and rinsing the cars and other light duty jobs, also I can apply a stronger soap or chem when needed, And lastly the $100 12v saves chem from having to go through my $1000 PW as often. Ron J the ball valve is rated for 5000 psi, and is pretty solid, had a few Orings blow out but that's about it,
