thanks for the unboxing and set up. i really liked the raw style of your videos. much more comforting than watching some paid “expert” unbox it in a highly edited video. This video had a very homely vibe
Thanks for this review. There's not a lot of information out there on products like this, and what little there is tends to be very clearly from biased sources. It's good to have a genuine take for once.
I bought this few months back for £349 it's not mind blowing but does make watching films and TV programs on Netflix very enjoyable that's once you upgrade to the premium pack so can watch in 4k ultra HD and HDR and get 5.1 surround sound
You are absolutely wrong , for me it's just mind blowing ... You must need setup the rear speaker and the soundbar as company mentioned... All speakers must be in eye level and you must setup the surround speaker volume correctly... This home theatre bass is on another level
thank you for this review. i want a new sound-system. now that i watched your video i think i´ll take another one. i´m not a big fan of build-in cables and the volume doesn't seem to be enough for me personally. guess i´ll take a 5.1 system without a soundbar. anyway. thank you very much for this review =)
I own this soundbar here's a tip you can adjust the setting of the whole setup with the controller on the subwoofer menu for the surround sound speakers from distance in feet or meters to sound levels of the rear speakers too
You say you can adjust the who set up I can only find how to adjust the distance and dB of the rear speakers not the front tho if can point in the right direction would be appreciated 👍
@@charleswrigley9488 but if you can adjust the volume and distance setting of the surround speakers, you should still be able to alter the sound to your liking. If the front speakers aren't loud enough, turn the surround speakers down. Gives you the same effect as turning the front speakers up.
I just got one today for a new 65 inch tv so no matter what it should sound better than TV speakers but then again I have never had any luck with sony as it's junk especially car stereos but will give it a try anyways. and open them up and add some tweeters to see if it gets better or not. Thanks for the review.
Such a great video! Thank you. I highly appreciate it. I have this and i am not sure if i will opem the box 😂 originally i wanted Phillips soundbar (5.1.2) that has upfiring speakers but i got this Sony surround system..
Hi and thanks for the review! If I can't get the Vizio, would you still recommend these for my first 5.1 setup? And can you hear the delay by your ears?
Great review. You tested the song Try Again on Sony and you again played the song in the end of video, my question is that both song on the same Sony system when you played in the end of video?
its a good system as long as you take your time and go through the settings, do your distances etc, and then it sounds really nice for the price you pay, there are better systems out there but for €300 its really good value.
i did all that and i cant make it produce actual surround sound. No matter the source, PS5, Xbox or PC, or external HDD - it wont produce surround. The test tone confirms all is plugged and working correctly, and i have played with the audio settings quite a bit, but no luck. Best the rear speakers can do, is double the audio for the other speakers at lower volume.
Any idea about the approx. length of the cables of the rear speakers to the wireless receiver ? I could not find this info even in the user manual. I'd better know this before deciding to buy because I have limited wall behind sitting area (mostly windows). Thanks in advance.
Hi just watched your video on Sony surround sound great honest review please could you send me the name of the 1UR recommendation is instead of the Sony one please
I recently got these as a gift for my game room. But I’m having issues with the wireless amp connecting. It continues to blink green. I’ve tried to manually link it again and I just keep getting error on the sub. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Should also mention the sub and wireless amp are only 10ft - 12ft apart.
Hi! First of all, thanks and congrats for the video, very good one! I bought this a few months ago and I am really struggling with the 5.1, and was wondering if you could tell me your opinion. I had own 2 other home theater systems in the past and what I am going to say now applies to both of them, but not to this Sony one. In the previous ones, both rear speakers were completely silence, unless there is an effect going on (car passing, etc), then they would make that sound to give the surround feeling. What I am experiencing with this Sony HT is not that. Both rears speakers are always outputting sound (including the dialogue and everything else), just on a lower volume. I have tried 5.1 test wav files and they are not being output individually. I have returned the first unit thinking it was an issue with the one I've received, but the new one does the same thing. I am using 2.1 HDMI cable and also using 5.1 source, so I don't know what to do anymore. Here is what I did so far to try and find out the source of the issue: 1) Replace the entire system for a new one: At first I thought the Home Theater I received was faulty, so I requested a replacement and got a new one the next day. It is acting exactly the same as the previous one, so clearly it is not a matter of it being damaged. 2) Try different cables: I am using the HDMI Arc connection, so I have tried with a few different high speed 2.1 HDMI cables and nothing changed. 3) Use another input and isolate the television: Like I said previously, I am using HDMI Arc, because I have more than one device going to my TV and want to output everything to the Home Theater. Just to be clear, my TV is modern (LG 4K TV) and is compatible with HDMI Arc (I am using the output that says Arc on the TV). I tried this with different cables and nothing changed. So I decided to try the connection with the optical cable provided by Sony with the Home Theater. I plug the output of my TV to the input of the HT via optical cable and nothing changed. Since I got a bluray going into the TV via HDMI, and then the sound being output to the HT via optical, I thought that the TV could be doing something to the 5.1 audio and not outputting it correctly, so I decided to take the TV out of the equation and connect the optical output of my bluray player directly to the optical input of the HT. The sound was exactly the same and nothing changed. 4) Use a high quality 5.1 test file: I have an audio file that is a 5.1 test. The file just says: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Each of the numbers must be played by the correct speaker. What happens when I play it is: what is supposed to be played on the front left speaker, is being played in the rear left as well (same with the right front and rear); what is supposed to be played in the centre speaker is also coming out of both rear speakers; and what is supposed to be coming only from the rear speakers is coming out of the side front ones as well. 5) Enable/disable the Multispeaker function on the HT: According to the manual, there is a Multispeaker function that can be enabled and disabled. The manual says that when it is ON it "Outputs the sound from all the speakers, regardless of the number of audio channels for the playback source". What I understand from that is if I play something that is in stereo (2 channels), the rear speakers will play something as well, probably reproducing what the 2 front channels are playing. On the other hand, when it is OFF it "Outputs the sound from the speakers that correspond to the audio channel for the playback source". From that I deduce that if I am playing something in stereo, only the front speakers will work, whereas if I play something in 5.1, then the rear speakers will also work. If this is correct, I want to leave it OFF, because I only want 5.1 when I am playing something in 5.1. What happens is that when it's OFF, even when I am playing something that I 100% know is 5.1 (like a movie or even the test file), the rear speakers do not output any sound. I've sent all this to Sony but didnt get any help. Sorry for the extremelly long comment, but I'd appreciate if you could give me any insight and also let me know if you experience that too.
@@gunnerfanlol66775 they kept asking me to show them the issue in a video. I dont know how was I supposed to show in a video made from my phone that my 5.1 didnt seem to be true 5.1, so I just gave up trying to talk to them.
@@andrebomtempo7893 if you click on your soundbar menu, and then click in the + witch is to higher the bass of your speaker, then keep on pressing until you see R speaker, and left speaker. Then should give you the option to louder your left and right speakers, but because of dolby vision and atmos in many movies, the tv itself will put your soundbar in dolby atmos, but let's say when you go to RU-vid or play games ,the rear speakers it shall be louder, just follow my instructions, and if you not sure , you can search on RU-vid aswell, how to louder your sony S4OR soundbar rear speakers
I’ve just bought mine but while arrived at home, the sound is not the same as the one tested at the store. The subwoofer looks non existence or weak. The rear speakers are like voice speaker only. Not sure it’s 600W.
Seems to be a common thing with their lower end models i have the 2.1 system & the bass is a lil lacking as well....their crossover is a lil higher then most maybe too keep distortion low
The 5.1 only works if the program or film is broadcasted in 5.1 Netflix needs to be on premium package to get 5.1 and HD 4k and HDR otherwise you will get voices coming out of the rear speakers I find it a terrible system you can only adjust the distance and dB of the rear speakers but not the centre speakers with having a dvd player with surround sound speakers you can have it on a comfortable volume without disturbing others sound bars are not the way to go I paid £349 English pounds I could have gotten a Yamaha ht2071 receiver with 5 speakers and subwoofer for extra £50 if new how poor this sound bar set is.
I mean I have it as well, and honestly it is lacking. It is loud, however I hate the cables, and I also hate the fact that there is no passthrough and everything plugs into the subwoofer. I prefer to have my subwoofer behind me rather than in front of me so that is disappointing.
So I'm looking to replace my Yamaha yas-207 finally....I have a new Sony tv with earc and a PS5 and watch alot of movies but streaming. What do you recommend for under say 600?
@@hamidrezaakbari7099 it was ok for my apartment but once I gave it to my parents in their house it wasn't that great. Now I have the LG sp9ya and it's another level.
rear wireless. it's kinda silly that people think wireless means all speakers are wireless. even the 'wireless' speakers need power cables. so for home theatre applications, 'wireless' typically means the rear speakers are wireless.
@@a9fc correct me if I’m wrong. The subwoofer (connected to the power outlet) has to be connected with the soundbar and connected with the tv by hdmi. The sound sound speakers are connected with each other. One surround is connected to the amp and the amp to the power outlet. What makes it wireless is that the surround speakers don’t have to be connected with the subwoofer. Is that right?
Great review but i have a big question...If is Dolby Digital and i run a movie only with DTS, what happened, I will have sound on this soundbar or not?
