I can't believe the dealership has the audacity to charge you that much. I have a 06 Ford 4wd diesel. I had both differentials changed. The transfers case changed $400 transmission was 250. For a total of 650.And I live in Southern California. Shame on those dealers.

Pickled beets are yummeeeee!!! 100,000$ for a pickup truck 2,000$ for maintenance..... Holy Mackerel 200$ an hour labor?? Jeezy Pete....I'm so glad you said nooooo!! Common sense has left our nation... Shop around and trust your gut instinct... stay safe

I thought I was the only person that washed my vehicle before taking it to be serviced 😂 Awesome channel! You guys are down to earth and honest (refreshing). We have the same bike rack, if you use the supplied bolt (where you’re using the pin) it really does take all of the movement out.

“Rainbow in a jar” I love pickled beets! Angie I’m like you when it comes to getting the last ounce out. My chapstick has half you can’t get out so I take a small knife and pick it out, last twice as long. I think company’s do this so you just go out and buy more sooner!

So far in the last four months differential maintenance, transmission, flush, and filter change, new starter, new fuel pump, and new turbo. $$$$$.

I know you often can't DIY because you're full time. Dealerships are out of control. I've found Google maps reviews a fairly good indicator of quality work offerings - use that to find an independent garage if you want to save a few dollars, but don't want the risk of Jiffy Lube and the like. If you want specific filters or fluids, ask or just bring your own. I DIY everything on my Ram 3500. Last quote I got from a dealer (diesel) was around 10 yrs ago for $550 (oil change and oil+fuel filters). Cost me just under $200 for the parts order. Add a couple (sensible) hours labor at an independent shop and you're still clawing back a ton of money vs having a dealer do it.

Had oil change, rotation, fuel filter done on my duramax in Florida and travel day was close so I just “got” it done. $480. Last time I had the same service done was about $305. I will always ask from now on. We too will be going to Tupelo on Monday before heading to Flippen, AR for the eclipse. Loved the duck jokes and tour of Huntsville. Drive safe!

The shop charges $200 an hour for labor, but I bet the mechanics working there probably barely make enough to survive. Land of the free! Lol

I bet you’re right! Our assumption was that maybe mechanics were more difficult to get in some areas, so they had to pay more..which COULD be the case. When we had it done a couple of hours up the road, they eluded to the fact that the dealership may not use the proper hourly wage, in order to make it economical for someone to bring it in. I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but I found it interesting.

I'm not advocating for the shop but the overhead to run a business is crazy. I guarantee the shop has to pay quite a bit for hazardous waste fees for the oil/chemicals to be picked up and disposed of, rent/mortgage, utilities, business ( insurance (theft/fire/liability, etc.) workers comp insurance, city/county/state business licenses/registration fees, etc., etc. The $200 hr. is not 100% profit for the shop. Also, a good, experienced, auto mechanic/technician at dealers could be paid $30 - $60 hr. depending on where in the country they are located and what credentials he/she holds. The guys/gals at these quickie oil change places (Jiffy Lube, etc.) earn around $13 - $15 hr. +/-.

I love what you did cutting the makeup bottle open. I do that also, with lotion, body wash, toothpaste. anything to get the last drop out. Otherwise it sticks to the inside of bottle.😂

We need one of those ducks for our Jeep! For sure shocked on the maintenance cost. That is crazy. Had a similar issue in Memphis. They wanted $500 per axle to change the differential fluid. I passed and did it for less than $25.

Cody, I replaced the brakes on my superduty with Powerstop Z36 extreme carbon-fiber ceramic brake pads. Best brakes I've had. Less dust clean wheels and awesome braking. Find a not busy road to do the break-in and enjoy. Ang, you quack me up! Thanks Mike B

It doesn’t surprise me the cost of service… I had to replace 2 Fuel filters on my ‘22 RAM Diesel, They charged me $160.00 each for Mopar filters! Ridiculous…. Oh well, wishing you Safe & Fun travels… 🍀🍀🍀

Oh wow! We did talk to another dealership a couple of hours away (who saved us hundreds on it) and he eluded to the fact that some dealerships don’t mark the work (the standard hourly) to a wage that’s really conducive for people to go get the work done. We will definitely be checking next time! Angela used to be called a trash panda, because of the variety of foods that she ate at work. 🤣🤣 That would have been funny to check out.
