At least it doesn't have crappy rockshox suspension anymore. More expensive, yeah but it's got an amazing fox40 and an air shock! I really wouldn't change anything from this entry level. Maybe the rims...
I got the same one and youre totally wrong with the headset and rims! The acros are total bullshit and break just in 5 or 6 months. And if the rims are ridden in less than 2.5 bars they just bend like nothing
I have the 2019 one and i had no problem with any of them...yes a small dent in the rim and that was it :)) And i did change a few things...like the fork, with a fox and now the fox with a dvo but that was it.
on enduro and trail bikes that's true, but DH bikes aren't used for seated pedaling, so reach #s don't align the same way. the new V10 (one of the most recently released DH bikes) has 3-position reach and size large can be 464, 472 or 480mm. The longest Demo (yeah, an older frame) is only 466mm! The latest commencal is 484mm on a large in low, so some DH bikes are getting longer for sure.
@@davidbestea4221 yeah I noticed most of the riders at Windrock have a YT Tues, was expecting to see more Commencal Supremes but only saw 1 and I believe it was a rental. Is it best to buy the YT Tues 29 or the 27.5 ? I’m 5’8” and although I prefer 29er trail bikes I’m concerned about my butt rubbing on the steeps trails.
@@pjsanab I have the Xl 27.5 and I am around 6, a lol bit taller then that and I find the bike a lil big in some scenarios. Now to answer your question, if I would be in your place I would go for the 27.5 and L, if we talk about jumps
The performance elite is a bit harder to get set up with only two adjustments. If you open up the high speed too much the rebound increases. I bought a grip 2 damper and it really changed my ability to control the feedback. You might also have too much pressure in the fork, mine was pretty harsh with 90 psi and I am 10-15 lbs heavier that you. At 80 psi it really changed, but I needed to keep the high speed closed more. Just keep tweaking it - it helps to have a friend help with the sag to get it right also.
So funny coming to this video in 2022: "how do you feel riding a 474mm reach bike?" Oh boy, do I have some shit from the future to show you! 😂 Edit: did not see the date on this video and thought it was from 2018. 475 is common size L reach.
Interesting to review a bike and basically just talk about how you chose the wrong size the entire time. maybe look at reach numbers before you choose a frame?
Fair point. YT's large, 27.5-inch Tues has a 452mm reach while the X-large we tested has a 474mm reach. All other test bikes this summer have had between a 460-465mm reach. When we picked which size to test, we realized we were between sizes for myself and Griz. We agreed a size large would be too small for me and the size X-large, although big for Griz's height, would lend itself to stability descending. Hindsight is 2020 and we now know the X-large was too big for Griz to manage. However, if we had gone with a size Large Tues I feel confident the review would have been skewed the other way with myself finding the size large much too small. I think this just goes to show finding the opportunity to test ride a YT (or really any bike, consumer-direct or not) can be valuable to arrive at the correct size. Cheers!
@@jasonschroeder2896 it just felt like you guys hardly talked about the actual bike. For a bike review I got to the end and just felt like "where's the review?"
one could sort of justify price for the comp version. Now they seem to offer base model that used to be 2799 for the same money as comp 3499 just because.....reasons :D ...it's bulls*it ...Not worth it at all
Mate I would have loved to paid $3,500 dollars for my yt tues Core 4 I got mine on special for £3,900($4851) bruv it's normally priced at £6,000($7462)
I love the endless longer reach number trend and the who needs compression, lets all run these pointless adjustments wide open, and my favorite is "this bike is awesome in a strait line"...... wouldn't it just be better if we all rode dutch commuter bikes on paved bike-paths......
According to yt offer this setup is not available anymore. Do you think that this review would change for the Tues base which now covers this price range? Thanks
Also the rolling circus demo is not adequate. During non COVID times is not a good statement for getting people on the correct bikes. If you can’t do it without the restrictions and hurdles they need to find another way. Also if you are a lightweight rider the base spec is absolutely too much weight. My 130lbs girlfriend has a very tough time managing the bikes weight.
