Always felt aus-10 to be an excellent budget steel. I like it better than 14c28n tbh. Kubey is the real budget king atm as well. Their Drake is unbeatable and comes in a staggering 4 different steels! (Aus-10, D2, s30v, and s90v).

Yeah for 155 bucks on amazon for the full Ti S90v Drake is pretty damn hard to beat. It's always scary buying steels that require premium heat treats from budget based Chinese companies like M390 or S90v from Two sun (their 14c is fantastic their M390 and S90v is ummm yeah stay away from it) but that price is so compelling and avaliable on prime that it's hard to say no to it if it's soft S90v simply return it and if the S90v is well done you just got the value of the year!

@@SimonRiley115 superior how? It isn't harder, more wear resistant, or stainless. They are in fact very similar. I just find aus-10 takes a finer grit edge . Cold Steel made their bones on AUS-10 not 14c28n.

Great review as always. I want to really thank you for what you do. I became a new subscriber when you did the PF 838, I was so impressed that I ordered the PF 838 and the tools that you use. I just received my PF 838 yesterday and tried it, but something didn’t feel right. I immediately took it apart and found the problem, so I fixed it cleaned it up assembled it. It was so smooth. I felt so confident in disassembling it, it was a breeze. So, I really want to thank you for taking time to show folks how to disassemble and clean their knifes, then they love and appreciate their knifes even more. Thanks again !!!

My best guess on this sale is that they mixed up older and newer Kubey Darkness so they grouped them together. In the picture on their website, they have one with the new pivot and one with the plain pivot. It says shipping with random version (probably why is only $30) From what I could find, this model was first available in February of 2019. Thanks Fordguy! Have an awesome Sunday and a great week!

My Dude the Kubey Darkness (Sometimes spelled by Kubey with 3 "s" ie: Darknesss) Perfect companion to the Kubey Drake. Kubey does not waste time, when they have a popular knife they upgrade upgrade upgrade. That is why you have two basic versions with two different kinds of clip one a deep carry the other like this one Fancy! Also different colors of scales. I got this version of the knife and the action is sweet and after a little break in, smooth as silk. Well done Sir. Feels different in the hand for some reason like the Kizer Flashbang, but bigger.

Beez, This is off topic for this knife, but I've gotten a crap ton of blades because of you. What do you store your blades in? I've got a 3 or 4 that never go into my pocket and like I said a crap ton of others and no real place to store them. How do you keep your knives safe yet available? I wish more folders had their pivots on bearings. If a $30 knife can do it, I don’t understand why more don’t have bearings. I also wish that they all would say in their description if the pivot was on washers or bearings. Anyone else with opinions or answers on this?

I guess my question would be: Do they have body screws like the one in this video? If so, you should be able to use the same process as in this video. They both have jimping, this version just has "bigger" jimping. You know, I haven't had to buy screws (yet!). So, I'm not sure exactly where to get them other than maybe Etsy. I do know that a lot of knife companies will send them to you for free a lot of the time!

It can. You really don't have to use oil if you don't want to. I'm a sucker for smooth action, so I use it, plus I enjoy cleaning my knives just as much as using them. I know, I'm weird😅.

Unfortunately the sale at kubeyknife com has ended, they are now back to 60. Amazon still has Tan and Green handles for just under 40, black is out of stock and the Orange handled version is back to 60 on Amazon. Beez did post the sale on the channel community page 2 weeks ago. If you like Kubey keep an eye on kubeyknife com, they frequently have sales.

🤣Yes, it's a pocket pecker. I don't carry anything other than my Victorinox in my right pocket, so flipper tabs don't bother me. I wish I had both versions to do a comparison. It looks like the other one is more in line with current-day jimping and clips. Thanks Paul! Have an awesome rest of you weekend brother!

@@_MiMo_ Yup, I'm kinda confused by the comment. I like the enthusiasm, I like the content. Hell, if someone reviews a knife and isn't enthusiastic...that kinda tells me maybe I don't want the knife. Every knife I've bought due to watching a Beez video has been excellent, so I don't see how the "big business voice" has hurt me at all. In fact, it encourages me to stay in the hobby, and it gets me great knives to use.

Dude! Don't feel crappy! There are a ton of knives with the same "look", but differences. Each new knife is exciting! I try to keep it mixed up. As far as my excitement, I would not enjoy reviewing knives in a library voice. That would be depressing, and not how I feel. Checking out new knives is exciting and I get hyped up! Thank you man, I appreciate your input.
