I bought the Buck Knife clone and it cost two times as much $20 but it is ten times the knife as the Rambo knife . Very well made so adding it to your survival kit (bug-out pack) is not a $89 dollar knife you may never use "or hope you never need." I keep one in the pocket in my truck door , and if someone breaks my window and steals it , it was only $20 bucks and I saved enough on it to get another window at the auto salvage yard .

you call that a hill, lolz. Love the energy, good video. Dave Canterbury's ten C's of survival should be in every survival kit. @CowboySurvival
@CowboySurvival 16 дней назад
I will add a caution.... 1. The spork is potentially dangerous. If you are not careful, you can cut your hand badly on the blade as you remove the handle. 2. The bellows is incredibly dangerous. If you accidentally inhale before fully removing it from near a fire, you can inhale embers and burn your lungs, a fatal sitch when in survival mode...learn to build a fire correctly and you won't need a bellows in the first place. 3. A first aid kit of some sort is a must-have.
@AdventureswithSpackmann
@AdventureswithSpackmann 16 дней назад
I mean that’s the same with any fixed blade knife with a sheath right? And good call on the bellow, inhaling after blowing is not good. And first aid is a must too. Thanks for watching
@CowboySurvival
@CowboySurvival 16 дней назад
@@AdventureswithSpackmann the problem with the spork is that it not obvious that there is a knife in that handle. The danger is present for anyone who is not familiar with particular kind of spork. If your finger extends over the handle at all, you can cut through the tendon really quickly. In a survival sitch.....that could be a disaster. Better just a plain old long-handled spoon. The Ozark Trail kit has an identical spork but with a different colored handle.

Never really used the survival bits other than the sewing kit, but nice to know they're in there if we ever need them 😂

The water tight (it is gasketed, correct?) case is nice. My family would gravitate toward a stainless steel metal tin to hold all the kit contents. I am retired in the tropics . Trust me on this, while we have a lot of water sources, all of it needs treatment. The metal tin will boil water and cook food, along with one or two plastic water bags to contain treated water, chemical treatment tablets and a few coffee sachets, tea bags and bullion cubes would round out the kits. A bug net and some repellent to keep our malaria and dengue fever carrying skeeters a safe distance away would also be a huge plus.

those rambo style knives break way to easy, better off using the 10 dollars on the machete or a saw if they have something viable there for a kit. even the more expensive rambo knives just break where the blade connects to the hollow handle. the only hollow handle knives i seen done well are the cold steel bushman which is all one piece the handle is then rolled and forge welded at the seam. the other is one where it is all a solid piece of steel and the handle is made round to size and then they drill a hold for storage, but not to deep. even a morakniv will out perform any rambo knife.

@@AdventureswithSpackmann trade medium, and could always break it and use pine pitch and paracord to use the blade to make a spear. so if already have it, or it is the only thing on the shelf as you are heading into a situation then ya better then nothing. even if you learn how to knap stone tools that process takes hours, especially if you don't have the tools for it with you. so ya not something to proactively go for, but if no other option would be better to have it then nothing. sure i carry a leatherman always, but that is not gonna take abuse, but will work great for fine work. something else to consider is get a wood sawzall blade and go at it with a metal file or grinder (dip in water often to avoid damaging the tempor) put edge on the back side, put a paracord wrap on the handle. then you got a knife with a saw on the back.

Everywhere else though- totally viable. That said, I still have a fishing kit in my old childhood Rambo knife too. Happy Sunday! @@AdventureswithSpackmannI got it! People buy a kit and don't know what to expect because there is no standardized measure! If it was something like the standards in fire extinguishers A, B, C, D, E+ people would easily know what to expect from a survival kit. Perhaps if we talk enough about it could we promote a standardation of shorts?

@@Lonewolf-ei5yv I think Dave Canterbury sums it up pretty well with his 10 Cs of survival. I’ll start spreading his word in these videos. I not sure it gets more complete than that lol.

For $30 bucks I'd definitely take it over nothing and over alot of similar priced kits. I do think it's odd to review a survival kit after riding your e-bike down a trail so tou can fly your drone, maybe that's my age or where my survival training comes from but it is RU-vid afterall

The rambo knife is a piece of crap. They sell machetes for around the same price and a fill tang hinting knife. Also, they sell tarps for cheap.

Obviously, these are not optimal solutions. But, as a general rule, one should always be at least moderately prepared for the unexpected. Keeping a kit in your car for example. I have a couple of those $10 Rambo knives in each of my bug out bags. Thermal blankets are cheap and easy to carry. You may choose to call those items “trinkets”, but they’re far better than nothing at all. And for the record, the rules are that anything that keeps me alive is not a trinket and doesn’t include any additional weight from ammunition and weapons being carried. Lightweight and durable materials used properly can save lives

@@AdventureswithSpackmann , I have one of these similar kits that I got at a local home store on sale for $15 recently. It had a different-but-cool spoon/fork combo, and some paraffin-saturated pieces of cotton rope. The other items and box were pretty much the same as in your video. The Ferro rod starts a fire very well, and actually, so did the ferro rod on the paracord bracelet. So just for basic fire, cordage, and shelter-I considered it a win. Thanks for your video. 😊
