Sao Jose dos Campos is a city with around 1M people in the metropolitan area. Its fairly safe for its size and has average-high cost of living. Its 1h30 from Sao Paulo, 2h from the paradise beaches of sao sebastiao, 1 hour from the mountain region and 4h from Rio de Janeiro.

Hi, I am no tax expert but my understanding is that the new tax law requires foreigners living in brazil to pay 15% tax on overseas capital gains. Before there was a generous tax exempt amount of R$20k to R$30k per month which has been removed. This change sucks and means I have to pay more tax.

@@nordicinvestor is that tax only on your income from your overseas investments? Or is it on your rental income from the apartment in Brazil?

It could be a great way to earn extra income, and I think that a lot of foreigners could really benefit from the knowledge you gained by being integrated in Brazil. For example, you can provide personal coaching or certain courses to help people move and integrate to Brazil.

he lives in blumenau, a city with mostly 500K inhabitants in the metropolitan area. Its situated in the state of Santa Catarina, one of the most developed states in Brazil, with low violence and poverty rates. The city is around 1 hour away from the beach and 2h30 from the state capital and touristic city Florianopolis.

When comes to pricing a home regardless of which country it all depends on the location. I am looking to relocate in Brasil and have been looking in a number of different states around Brasil, I've seen lots of houses around the same size and the prices varied a lot some were 300k real less than the one you showed us and some were upwards of 1 million more it all depended on the location.
