Coulda tried to get the same amount of compression, say 3db, on all the test models, then normalised those files to the same level AND THEN compared the compression characteristics. C.mon, guys.

Stam for me, I'm saving a great amount of money!! Sounds closer to the original!

WWWOOOOOWW... STAM DUDE STAM!, More close to the vintage unit, with the reissue I don't feel the same way. What a good surprise. Great video

Thanks Thomas!, the Stamchild's color is closer to the original than the reissue. Also the reissue sounds narrower than the other two. I use Plugin Doctor to test the ratio and knee (DC Threshold) of my HW compressors, you can also test the attack and release curves. Regards.

Reissue and clone sound little bit darker, while original probably saturates sound more

The Stamchild absolutely does the Fairchild thing. It delivers the goods, and more. It gives you that tube saturation with the top end sheen, while retaining a big, powerful and focused low end. You don't have to think twice before deciding which one is the best option. :D (hint: the other two are a waste of money)

Thanks for doing this man. Look forward to you doing the Herchild 670, because I have one and would love to hear the comparison. From what I've heard in this VDO, the vintage 670 is warmer, has great low end and not harsh in the top. The reissue still has nice high end but seems to give a different point of high end in the frequency spectrum and has less low end. The Stam is the brightest out of the 3 and has the least low end boost. The compression is fairly similar without getting too detailed. If money wasn't a factor, I would definitely go for the vintage.

Funny how when the Fairchild first came out it was used more for a door stop than a compressor making records. Then folks started using it and now it goes for the price of a house. That’s why I keep all my gear. Stam all the way. Can’t spend 300K on a compressor.

stamchild and reissue sound identical. The vintage has a SLIGHT high end roll off ("warmer") but that could easily be replicated with eq.

Are you doing a video with the Vacuvox?

In my memmory this is full with A class stages but not sound like that. I found same issue like this when i try to put my LA610 mk1 to an digital stagebox at line level. it sounded more like wrong tube amplifier as 80% wet plus input as 20% dry signal what are mixed together. This conbination is olso seem compleetly useless thru this video.

Those old tubes in the original sound so much warmer and nicer..but Stam sounds good as well. The reissue sounds much cleaner... it's what you like..for me the original is the winner.

They want 300,000 for it , the last few sold for about 100,000 ( which is still a lot of money) . I can’t see anyone paying that much for one. There will be a price drop soon if they really want to sell it.

The plug-in is just terrible Thomas, I love and respect your channel and what you’re doing. Please please please don’t do any of these process autotune vocals or drum loops anymore for god sake please use organic sources that have not been processed so people can really judge with the processor itself is doing. Thank you from a long time fan.

If you're a member of some legendary, known worldwide rock band you can buy yorself Fairchild and it's reasonable. But if you're running a recording studio without clients paying you millions of dollars.. then it's just plain stupid

Maybe if you had millions, could be a good investment. I dont think it cost so much because of how good it is, but how rare and collectable it is. Its a piece of history, same as paintings and such

Said the broke guy that can’t afford good hardware… Just because you’re broke, does not mean everybody else’s. There are lots of people in the world that will spend more money on their passion then you would spend on living expenses and I’ll do it for fun. Me… I’m somewhere in the middle. I will buy an $8000 microphone but turn around and drive a 15 year old Ford pick up truck that’s worth $4000.. I also don’t give a crap what the fans think. I am a studio owner not some frustrated Musicians or Producer. I want the best tools I can get in my facility so the best engineers want to come there and work. But you probably don’t understand that business model.

@@nicefish10 trust me i do. when you lose all your money in studio gear and you see someone ele's do it better than You with budget gear then you know is not worth it I understan they sounds good when you pay $8000 on mic and then what What about your music do the sounds good as good music or not what about your mix do they sound's great it's about you not the gear
