*UPDATE* - For whatever reason this got pinged or posted somewhere and suddenly gained a ton of views today, May 16th, 2018. Why? No idea, but I noticed and thought I'd say hi! :) I do still have this PC, but it has been changed over time and actually has less in it than it did back then, it hasn't been turned on in about a month, rendered obsolete by Ryzen sadly... Most of the parts were moved to other PCs.

It was put next in my que on may 26th. It also lists you as "Sponsor" in the vid details implying it's a sponsored video. I've been thinking about checking out your videos anyways, and this is great! I wish I had your vids when I built my first PC. Slower than most builds, so not as exciting, but incredibly detailed which I searched for but couldn't find.

I'm not following the logic behind pulling air from the case across the CPU cooler. How is warmer air from the case going to be a good thing?
@lenoralenor5135
@lenoralenor5135 8 месяцев назад
@@MichaelLloyd You mean when he turned the rear exhaust fan around at 1:33:33? I understand what his plan is but one question is, aren't the front intake fans being interfered with due the the hard drive placement? But maybe that's not as big a deal bc it brings air in vs expelling air from the extra fan installed over the front drive bays. Note: I wish there was a search function for comments such that I can narrow down what I want to look for vs commenting on something others may have commented on. At least this would make it more efficient/easier for me but might make fewer comments on the vid.

Exactly, its quite surprising to me how he keeps it interesting even with a 2 hour long video, his Part 2 of this build was one of the very few hour long videos I've watched on youtube.

For anyone interested, the raw footage from the build ended up being 7 videos totaling 160GB and the estimated file size of the upload itself is about 50GB. I film at 100 Mbps and render at 50 Mbps, the missing file size is trimmed footage, there is about 3.5 hours of raw film and 2 hours and 17 minutes of finished footage Actual filming time was about 6 hours, including setup and transition time, and a few breaks for me to eat and take a break from talking. :) This video took just over 10 hours to render in Adobe Premiere Pro CC on my i7-4790k with DDR3-2400 RAM (it took RU-vid more than 15 hours to turn it into all the various formats once uploaded!)

Thank you for the stats, it's really interesting to hear about how much time and effort from both you and your hardware went into making this video. I put it on 2x speed and watched it in one go, thank god RU-vid has this option lol Great video, really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the installs and benchmarks to come.

I'm curious as to what your camera setup is, your videos have very good detail since you are shooting in 4K and 100 Mbps, are you shooting with an A7 series camera or a GH4? Also, the sound is very clear and consistent all throughout the two hours, I truely appreciate the time and thought you put into your videos, all aspects are very consistent and well made. Keep it up!

My older videos and build videos (including this one) are filmed with this - amzn.to/2dxRynR For awhile, I had one of these, but had endless problems, so it went back to Amazon - amzn.to/2cRKDaE My new front demos and shots are filmed with this - amzn.to/2dGeJwE

When you look at the cable management at first it looks bad. But then you realise how many drives he has in it. This video was quite interesting I think tech deals is the best RU-vidr to keep the audience listening. Other tech youtubers do builds that take a few hours like this but I usually fall asleep.

UPDATE - Windows 10 installed nicely on this computer last night, Part 4 will be longer than normal for a Windows 10 first boot video, lots of updating! The motherboard BIOS was at 0401, newest version is 1101, so I showed that being updated, as well as SSD firmware updates, drivers, etc. That video won't post until tomorrow, I haven't edited it yet, but I'll try and get it up for the morning.

I just built my first PC following your instructions and it went flawlessly. I am typing this on it now. Your instruction video was actually one of the best I've ever seen. Insightful highlights for me were the temporary screws on the fans for installing the radiator, third exhaust fan to balance air pressure and your raving endorsement of the 750D (which got outstanding reviews on Amazon etc.). Indeed it was a breeze to work in. So thank you very very much, my build went much better than it probably would have without your input. Please keep up the excellent work.

Tip: you could still use the 2 USB 2.0 front ports. The USB 2.0 headers each support 2 USB devices. Note how the Corsair connectors only use one row of cables. The second port is wasted. It's very simple to carefully pull the cables from either the power supply or cooler connector and move them to the other one. My Maximus IX Hero only has one USB 2.0 header, this solution allowed me to connect both Corsair RM 750i and H100i v2 to one USB 2.0 header.

This is one of the greatest videos I've ever watched on RU-vid. :) Thanks so much for making this as detailed as you did. The only thing I would have liked to have seen are more close-ups or zoom-ins. I'm building my first computer in nearly fifteen years and the two things I am most nervous about are installing windows and dealing with BIOS, etc. (which another video of yours helps some with) and figuring out the who, what, where, why, and hows of plugging things into the motherboard. Your video has been SO helpful. Thanks!

Sweet, been waiting for this. Saw the whole thing! I'm currently waiting for my parts for my Skylake build to arrive, and feel confident that I won't mess up thanks to videos like this and Paul's Hardware 's live builds. The bad thing about living in (mid crisis)-Greece, and in Europe in general, is that hardware is so much more expensive than in the US. For example, I'm right now spending 1350 Euros (~1520 US dollars) in a Skylake build, having just one 250gb SSD, a GTX 1070, and a 550W PSU. The PSU in particular (EVGA SuperNOVA 550g2) is costing me 107 Euros ~ 120 US DOLLARS!!! Whereas in NewEgg you can find it at about 85$. The same build would have cost me about 900-1000$. That's a pretty massive difference. I'm guessing it's the shipping and taxes? Sorry for the long post.

This must be one of the most comprehensive pc build guides I have seen so far. Very impressive indeed. But please reconsider that cable management. That case has good preconditions to do a nice cable management on the backside. With the cables arranged like that you will create an airflow dead spot in the lower half of the case which may reduce the cooling performance of the gpu and the 950 pro ssd.

you have 4 internal usb 2's, corsair link on your power supply and cpu cooler just use a dual plug, its a waste.. buy a y adapter or pull the wires out of both and insert them into1 plug that you got from some old case... basically your cpu cooler is taking up a usb 2 port that its not using.. the plug electrically just covers them up

Commenting an industrial power supply design Engineer I don't think 2 intake fans and 3 exhaust fans can create a low pressure system as such unless the case lacks ventilation holes elsewhere other than directly in front of or behind the fans. You appear to have vented expansion slot covers which will serve as an input for extra air required by the third exhaust fan. This would provide adequate space for additional air into the enclosure preventing much of a pressure drop worth worrying about. I would imagine Corsair think pulling ambient air (cooler air) into the enclosure rather than pulling warm air (enclosed air in case) out through the radiator is a better arrangement.

Good catch! :) I thought I did a pretty good job editing that out... :) If I live stream a build, I can't do that!

Hi, very good and very helpful, even now in 2018. I particularly appreciated the air flow discussion. And, yes, I watched the whole thing! BobUK.

Great video. Really interesting to see you aren't wearing an anti-static wrist cable.

I can't imagine having that many drives... All those sata power cables would drive me insane hahaha

While it might be true that good cable management gives you better airflow in tiny tiny cases it doesn't matter at all in a big case like this. It just looks nicer.

About 7 Months ago LinusTechTips posted a video where Luke tested it. Go and watch it if you don't believe me.

Yea, there are a lot of comments about that... You should see my other computers, this one was pretty good! :) Frankly once this is under my desk at home, I'll never look at it again, so the appearance doesn't bother me, I just want to keep the cables off the motherboard and if there is enough airflow, then it's fine.

I'm surprised. Why you didn't route cables on the backside of the case,as it should be (CPU and MB power cables)? I'm at 50:50 and when I did fastforward of video I see all that mess of cables in front. I would route all those cables should at the rear side of the case.

so if i have only 3 fans in my system excluding the cpu fan i can only use 2? or can i have 1 exhaust in the back and 2 intake in the front?

I would've removed the 5.25 cage. Actually I removed all drive cages in my case. I will not intend to use any more HDDs in the future and I will have only two SSDs for now, sitting back of the motherboard. And with having NVMe on the motherboard, I think I have plenty for now. And If I would ever need more, I will use one of drive cages to the top (where 5.25 cages are), so there would be space in the front of fans. :) Waiting for the rest of videos. Great work!

Love the detailed video, I'll be watching this again once I build mine for a follow along build tutorial. Although I don't like how you left the main cables in the front of the case. I hate birds nests, makes me cringe.

Sorry for commenting so much but as I get further in more questions brew... I was trying to throw a build together and noticed almost all X99 motherboards need a bios update before use, I can't do this as I don't have an extra. Any ideas?
