100% a deal breaker for me, i would NEVER rent a place without 1-a balcony 2-brightness , nice large windows ….. you made the right choice , that other apartment was depressing

Definitely a substantial improvement. Much more light and, although small, there seems to be a better allowance for movement. The ergonomics seem so much more freedom. The balcony is, surely, the icing on the cake. Sunshine, a nice view, a good beverage, and time for reflection can be a wellspring for the soul. Also the in apartment washer will make things so much more convenient. Kudos on your new abode. As always, I send wishes for health, happiness, prosperity and longevity.

It’s good you got an apartment that you feel happier in even if it’s a little more expensive. You can’t live your life simply focused on cost of everything. Such people are often the most miserable people alive. Happiness is More important. Whether you believe in the hereafter or not nothing we make we get to take so might as well use it to make yourself and the people around you happy.

Hey David, even though you already speak Spanish if you want to brush up on it you could enroll in the Spanish program at EAFIT which would qualify you for a student visa. I think the slow program is three hourly classes a week. That may be a consideration for your legal status.

Renting an apartment in Medellin can be problematic. Landlords may, or may not, be the owners. BEFORE you surrender the first peso...insist on seeing a copy of the receipt or rental agreement. Getting a receipt...entitlement to possession...can become significant. Don't send money until you are in the apartment...do not pay one peso until you see a copy of the receipt and or rental agreement. Landlords are reluctant to provide because it clarifies...to an extent...your commercial agreement, and there are some consumer protection laws in Colombia...housing is one. In a hirise the building administrator "property owners representative" will likely have a great deal to say about uses and practices while you reside there. Where you see ratings and comments describing the Administrator as a "major domo or prison warden" take heed..these people are not there to make your stay comfortable. They are working class people charged with enforcing building rules and sensitivity to touristas are not the strong points.

I just left an appartment in Robledo Pajarito, which was 1.3mil cop. It had a huge terrace with a stunning view, a big garden and was fully furnished with everything you might need. It is a little bit outside of the city, but you are in San Javier with the metro cable in 30 minutes.

It sucks that you can’t even stay in Colombia more than three to six months. In my opinion that’s no way to live a healthy stress free life. You should just marry a Colombian woman for the citizenship, kind of like a business deal. Anyway, I wish you look, I myself am seeking to buy a home in Southern Spain now as Colombia just makes it too hard for westerners like me. Loving the content brotha!…🤟

Nice score! Airbnb is definitely the way to go in Medellin, especailly on a tourist visa. Just bring a medium-size suitcase and an international carry-on, and you've got everything you need.

Having a few rental properties and a good grip on the property management game. I honestly don’t see how you can make any money on rentals in Colombia. There is no margin.

Very nice apartment and the price is GREAT. Let me know when you move out and will move in...lol. Seriously...it is very nice. That is exactly what I have been telling people here. You can get WAAAYY more value for the price you pay in just about everything. My retirement check and living in Colombia are a great match. I will be living like a king. Hopefully it does not get too expensive in the next 13 yrs. That is when I should be able to retire. Great video.

here in florida in a colombian restaurant if you have the same breakfast you are describing it will cost you 12 bucks, so yeah to save 6000 pesos equals to save 12 dollars

You should be able to buy the bidet for less than $20 check a hardware store if you don't have something like Amazon. When you leave just leave it behind. No pun intended.

Last time I was there I stayed in San Joaquin for 1.8 mil on circular 2 and loved it...of course I got stuck an extra 2 months because of the pandemic

$6,000 breakfast or lunch is in a very cheap place. Most decent lunch/breakfast in Colombia cost over 10,000. I;m talking about a clean, nice place.

Juan New York and California are the most expensive cities in USA. But I doubt that if you were in Colombia earning the minimum salary of $ 250 monthly you will be not able to afford this cheap studio. An architect in Medellin can earn $800 dollars per month so he will be spending half of her monthly salary just to pay an studio

The colombian peso is losing value. As of today's exchange rate, 1.65 million colombian pesos is just $377.54 US dollars. Nice place even at the more expensive costs but for $377, it's a super, super deal! Nice.

You should try the Selina in poblado, 450 per month for a 6 bed plus all the amazing facilities! Incredible lunch deals, co working spaces, amazing bar and Restraunt, daily events!

I am glad you moved from the previous flat, I did not think it was nice a place at all, it really worries me because I think the rent they are charging you is a rip off. I am a paisa who moved to London and got really sick of the conditions in which people live there, I moved out from London but am still in the UK and hopping to go back home soon. I am scared Medellin is becoming the same. Bogotá is supposed to be the most expensive city in Colombia, I am sure you can find something nicer and cheaper over there, they don't rip off expatriates in Bogotá the same way they do it in Medellin.

Cheap. I rent an appartment in Panamá condado del Rey. $850 - $1050 all in. Avenida balboa is $1200+. So $416 is nice

$416 a month is cheap compared to prices here in Australia. We pay that a week for an apartment near the city or even more

Bala and do you earn the same ? In Colombia an architect can earn $800 dollars a month so he will be paying more than half salary just for an studio and if that person is earning the minimum wage the salary will be only $ 250 dollars per month. Imposible to afford any studio

I think this studio is very expensive because my cousin paid the same for a 2/2 with a big kitchen and living dining room in a estrato 5. Of corse she has been living there several years and it could be the reason the landlord did not increase the rent. It was not furnished. She has to paid the utilities
