Agreed. Folks who don't believe this could happen just don't understand the beginning of Magic. It was new for *everyone* involved; players, shops, manufacturers, designers, etc. Looking at this old product with today's mindset sets you up to believe conspiracy theories when in reality, a lotta these folks were just doin' the best they could and makin' the rules up as they went.

As a magic player I typically only come for magic Mondays tbh

I actually bought my first pack of magic cards because of this .... I do not recommend. I got a collectors booster and got an open pack and every single holographic card is curved like crazy. Wish I stayed living vicariously 😢 a Lil 'bit of the MAGIC is gone now.

That's a different situation, there actually was an Island printed on the rare sheet in beta so it would get collated with other rares. This is quite a bit more unlucky than that but Wubby is going far above and beyond what anyone else would do and frankly far and above what he needed to do but this is why he's the best out there.

Island was printed in the rare slot. I saw the common, uncommon and rare island pack opening too. But it’s common knowledge island was printed as a rare in ABU

We can't really blame them too harshly. it would have cost an obsene amount to go back and print a small run of new sheets, and back then they were a very small hope and prayer type company with little capital.

I recommend checking out the book Generation Decks, which is about the history of magic. For those early sets, they were putting their own money on the line, but they knew they had a hit. Alpha's printing was supposed to last the whole first year, but GenCon caused such a surge of interest in Magic that instead of lasting a year, it sold out in a week. So I'm not surprised that in the chaos that was getting Beta out the door almost immediately after Alpha that a mistake like this could happen. Also remember, this is the first time that this type of pack randomization happened. There were Baseball cards and stuff like that, but they didn't need the controlled randomness that Magic did to be a playable Starter Deck. Again, highly recommend checking out that book, it's been super interesting and has gotten me into early sets so much more now that I know how scrappy it all was.

Yeah I've seen it happen to them in their vids before too, and they were their own source, having sat on them for decades themselves... so there was no funny business involved for certain. I mean, why would they scam themselves lol.

I came across one of these when buying these new at target in middle school, hed actually forgotten about this even being a thing, also remember hearing about the 15 rare packs at the time too, though i will say i was way less pissed getting a no rare pack back then then i would be with the price these packs go for today.

For me it was 59 nick, 60 Disney, and 62 Cartoon Network

59 was Nick. 58 was Cartoon network, and 56 for disney.

You all had access to the good channels, we had YTV instead of cartoon network and nickelodean and we had family instead of disney, they carried a lot of the same shows but also a lot of other trash, that's just a Canadian difference though partly because of Can con laws and partly because of licensing.

@@mfdoom1898 Before Metazoo I didn't care about any card games. Though in the mean time I have gotten into playing Pokemon, but I don't collect. My wife and daughter do. I do use their bulk to build decks though. That being said, I always find it strange when people don't just let people like what they like. Such an odd response.

Good question

Rares are on a diferant sheet (3 sheets of 121 cards each, one sheet for each rarity). So you can only really map the second rare once you know the first one, or you can also map a case pack to pack, as the rares from one pack to the next inside a sealed case will often follow on from each other, but not always perfectly, but that's the only other way to kind of track rares that havn't been pulled yet using the print sheets.

I would imagin it would be mint pricing, as these are pack fresh cards, but there's no guarentee what grade they will get due to centering, print spots, etc. etc. but I don't know for sure, and havn't checkedd his prices against the prices at the time. He might be using 7 or 8 graded prices .. as most pack fresh, even with the worst factory defects, at a minimum would come back grading around there. Putting up prices for 10 grade for every card is a bit optamistic. It could be just where he's getting his prices from too ... as you have the list price, the buy price and the sell price, which will all be diferant for the same condition and grading of card useually.
