The professional RU-vidrs, who shared personal mental health struggles as part of their ads, faced backlash when it came out that they were paid for each customer who signed up for BetterHelp through their unique links-sometimes up to $200 per person. Real nice.
Victoria, you hang in there, kiddo. Rico loves you and will always come to your aid when aid is needed. He is your safety net. You also have thousands of people rooting for you out here in Far, Far Away. Hugs and a smile! ☺Duke
Another beautiful live aboard. Victoria I'm with you on the pillows. Don't hide the bed under a bunch of pillows. Victoria, your sharing was very beautiful. Stay safe.
Excellent discussion about anxiety and fears. I’ve been a triage mental health registered nurse for over 30 years. I’m so glad you shared. You may never know how many people you helped. Takes a lot of courage to be vulnerable these days. Rico and yourself are a bright light in 2024:). Boat tour was fun too.
This is the first embedded ad I've seen that I've actually watched all the way through. Thanks for doing it. I know what caused my claustrophobia, and have learned how to manage it. The biggest step is acknowledging the fear, the next biggest step is actively deciding to take action to learn how to control the fear.
I agree. This wasn't an ad, it was an endorsement that made sense based on who Victoria is. It was very real, and I watched it all the way through too. Victoria, I hope you have success in your phobia work -- they can be so hard to deal with. I really appreciate your speaking so openly with us about it... you've said a few times in passing on other videos that you get nervous when you have to step over a wide gap, but I had no idea how hard it was for you. I admire you for working to get past it, and for persevering in handling them when you must in the meantime. I hope I can handle my fears as gracefully.
Rico you are a very lucky man, your wife is stunningly beautiful and what great style. I would never throw her overboard! I really want to thank you both, I have been watching you two for a couple years now and I just signed the paperwork for a 2006 Meridian 490 pilothouse. Living in the SF Bay area I couldn't even pretend to be able to purchase a house, so I went the live aboard route because of you guys! Because of your guy's videos I knew what I wanted in a live aboard and what to look for as far as amenities. Now to find my first mate..........
Wooohooo we love those Meridians! Great Boats! If you ever need any help or advice on the Meridian, definitely consider reaching out to us via Patreon 🙏🏻🩵🤍
Victoria, I know how hard it is to open up, not doing so destroyed my relationship and pushed away friends. I know it's difficult and can be painful, but you're a fighter. You got this! Ricco is with you all the way, this will make your relationship stronger.
I'm a driver/ equipment operator and spend 50 hrs plus a week out on the road. Imagine my dilemma when I developed a fear of driving over bridges 😮😢. Sometimes the irrational is exactly that. Knowing that it's OK not to be ok and there's always a map to getting better.
Victoria, thank you so much for using your own experience to shine a light on having fears and anxiety. Your are an extremely strong & courageous person to do so in a public format. Thank you
Kudos to you for opening up about your fears and challenges. Many people have things they deal with, in my case claustrophobia and an intense fear of flying. Seeking help is awesome, as is having a supportive partner like Rico. I clearly remember him talking you through the scaffolding on your boat build. Best always.
@@NautiStyles It showed, and Rico helping you and you getting thru it was quite a personal experience and accomplishment. I'm sure there are people who didn't think you'd make it. I'm not in that camp. 🙏👍🤗🤗🤗
Maybe its because of Rico the Lady V needs a little counseling now and then... and I am big fan of Rico just looking to make trouble I have been in 'mommy mandated' therapy for years.
What a lovely yacht. I’ve seen Better Help sponsor many of my favorite RU-vid content creators but I have to say yours was the most moving. I felt your pain and got teary eyed listening to you. Thank you for sharing and bringing mental health to the forefront. I can’t think of a better person to bring awareness to an issue. You and Rico are my favorite couple on the Tubes. Much love and happy travels, Kel
🥹🥹 thank you sooo much, this really means the world… I have been struggling for so long, it felt good to finally be able to share… and BetterHelp was instrumental in pushing me to open up. And now, reading some of the other peoples comments, can’t believe that some people have the exact same fears as I do… and I’m not crazy and I’m not alone. If this helps at least one other person, mission accomplished
Victoria thank you for your opening up about your struggle. I benefit from speaking to a therapist weekly. I am working on becoming a therapist. You have just placed your fear in the forefront, and that is the most important thing that you can do. It is not going to eliminate your fear, but it helps you because everyone around you now understands. Therapy is important to me. Even Therapists need therapy. I am still so interested in meeting you guys and being a hand on your boat.
My worst fear is looking down off a dam on the reservoir side of it. The height of Hoover dam on the downstream side of it doesn’t bother me at all, but looking down into the water side knowing how deep it is the fact that I can drown and get sucked through the turbines sends me over the edge. I think we all have our severe fears. Thanks for sharing another video! I enjoyed it so much!
Victoria, I'm with you, I think the overkill of pillows is ridiculous. Every night you have to move them off to go to bed and then find somewhere to put them and in the morning put them all back on so they're not in the way as you're getting ready for your day.
The solution is Inflateable pillows with Lanyards Every morning you throw them over board where the float after / along the boat and fetch them back in the evening. Bit wet but that is "authentic 18th century" feeling (Weevil proteing fortified biscuits optional) ;)
@@mbr5742 Not just the issue of being wet but if you're in the Ocean, you're bringing all of that salt onboard and on your furniture, plus any other grossness they come in contact with, especially if you're in a Marina where it can be polluted with fuel, garbage, and other dirty stuff. And depending on what they're made of, they'd probably get ruined from the elements (ie: the Sun, salt, and any chemicals) pretty quickly. Not to mention, they'd likely smell like low tide...
@@NautiStyles The best life hack that I've learned with having pillows, especially in a small space, is to just get empty throw pillow cases with zippers on them and then your pillows can double as storage for things like extra clothes and/or linens. Multi purpose is key for small living! 😊
Here is my first ever second comment. Thanks so much for turning me on to Motor Yacht Loon and especially Nina the crew chef. Between these three channels I have a ton of content to sift thru.
I have the same Sensations as you explained ! Just watching someone Board or Disembark gives me a chill of it ! I even have trouble walking on some wood or cement walkways to get to a Boat ! I feel like I loose my Balance and could fall in ! When I watch any boat reviewed and see the different levels to board ,they never video themselves how they get on ! All the sudden they are just on ! So ,You are Not Alone ! And I live in Ft . Lauderdale , can you believe it ! It keeps me from buying a boat !
Thanks for sharing!! It’s comforting to know that I’m not the only one struggling with this specific phobia… I have never met anyone who shared the same fears
Victoria, l applaud your courage to speak openly about your anxiety; and thank you for your efforts, to encourage others in similar circumstances to ask for help. Stay strong. ❤
Another trivia question I've wondered about: 'Salon' or 'saloon'?? As a landlubber, I tend to think of a 'salon' as a place where ladies go to have their hair and nails done, while a 'saloon' is a bar in an Old West cowboy town.
Oh my, thank you. I have tuned in because I love your love of boating, but your honesty and willingness to share something that so many of us have experienced was powerful and appreciated. Thank you and we are all here for you.
This may be my favorite of all the boats you’ve toured. Such a great layout and even in the video you can see that it’s been very well cared for. Also loved the rounded corners on all the doors. I would also have the problem climbing onto the boat from the dock as I suspect many others do too.
Yes, especially with boats this large but then anything over a few feet high seems scary to me. It can be a long way back down to the dock or worse between the dock and the side of the boat! Never will have a big boat but always enjoy your videos that give me “dream time”. I always appreciate when you state the price and fuel tank size with cruising range. I think you guys have one of the classiest channels always being very tasteful but lighthearted. Thanks
Was out on my nephew's boat last week and didn't have a problem negotiating the boarding or moving around while underway. I'm not a novice to boats but no kid either. Really need to be in decent shape if you ever had to deal with an emergency situation.
I really did appreciate you telling us about your struggles we all go through them and it was very brave of you to talk about it with us.❤ You just made us love you more. Feel free to talk about your progress were here for you too. Talking about your fears will extinguish them. I cant wait to see your new yacht, been watching the build with you. ❤
Victoria, Thank you for sharing some of yourself with us. Fears are real, and all we can do is try to conqure them. Keep up the great work, and just know we all love you and Rico. Stay safe and if worse comes to worse, you can always fall back on Rico. I am guessing that with most (not all) of the videos start with you already onboard the boat. We all struggle, and we all need support. Thank you for opening up to us.
Yachts are awesome, but they come with maintenance, docking fees, insurance, and all sorts of other expenses. It’s not just the initial purchase price you need to think about.

My NBBL includes a passerelle/boarding stairs design that allows safe boarding via a ramp or stairs, with rails, from port, starboard or aft, depending on the dock situation.
Victoria thanks for sharing, hopefully you will get some relief. The yacht is a beauty but one thing was haunting me the whole tour, no stripes. Come on stripes don’t go plain on us now😂
Good for you Vicky. There should not be a stjgma about mental health. I have been on anxiety/depression medication. Do not care about what people might think. Be the best you can be!
That was funny when Rico removed that deck hatch revealing the shop vac. Somebody forgot to spray some bleach to get rid of that black mold. He was also real quick with checking out the bait well. Had a feeling it was pretty yucky too. Those are places people forget about. The boat though was really cool. It sure didn't have the feel of a 34 year old boat. Your boat reviews have a great flow to them.
I have never heard the Aft Deck called a Cockpit. It is, after all, the aft end of the main deck. My boat has an Aft Deck. If the Aft Deck was a cockpit Hatteras would call the boat a Cockpit Motor Yacht and they didn't, it is a Motor Yacht. :)
@@NautiStyles lol 😂 I do want it but first paying off the mortgage 💸 then I will be great again lol 😂 in the meantime I will just ride on my buddies formula and hold on for dear life 🫣
Really? I really thought I was the only one, because I’ve never met anyone with the exact same fear… Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻 🫂 please lets keep each other posted on the progress and any solutions that work 🩵
Very nice video. Looks like it takes a lot of work and time to produce such a professional video like you guys do. Look forward to each of them. I'm good with 3 or 4 pillows too. PS I think your sponsor commercial was very well done, probably the best one I've seen on any channel so far.
Wow! I could see how much emotional strength it took to open up about your anxieties. There's no doubt a professional therapist can open that final door to helping you to fully enjoy the incredible lifestyle you and Rico have. Also - I agree with you, Victoria, too many pillows on the beds is a bad move. Thank you for sharing and good luck! Now, on with the show....
Hi guys, I absolutely love your videos! I've been on an 86ft sailboat and a 110ft motorboat, but after watching your content, I've never wanted to live on a boat more. I'm especially smitten with the Bering 70 and can’t wait to see a video of the new B78 version.
Beautiful boat, looks like it's been well maintained! Throw those pillows overboard! Victoria, being so open about your anxieties was a brave thing to do. I hope that "Better Help" can help you get that behind you. Thanks for all you do!
2 pillows each, that's all you need. That is another beautiful yacht. I love the old school wood work in the saloon and as the family cook, that kitchen is brilliant. The price is very competitive as well as it has been well looked after. Absolute banger.
You guys show Yachts like no other. Thank you for your hard work. We are all your support if you need us. My daughter and one friend have the same anxiety about boarding. So I board first then turn and help them onto the vessel. Thanks for opening up it always helps others. Therapy myself for 2 years on issues from childhood. If anyone is listening I’m a 6’2” 250 lbs bridge builder ( tough guy ) that needed some help. Ashamed at first, now I talk about it all the time. You never know if you are going to help someone by talking.
@@NautiStyles You as well with your weekend plans. Sadly ours is full of pulling boats and docks out of the lake for our friends that are here for the summer. Ours will stay in for another month 👍
Perfect Liveaboard! And it has ANALOG GAUGES ❤! I love all the warm, classic wood tones on the interior. And the galley has more counterspace and storage than my kitchen! Yes, big thumbs-up for this one!👍
When I was young 5 or 6, I stepped off your boat to the dock and the dock wasn’t there. In to the water I went, came up under the dock, waited until the boat moved back away from the dock and jumped out of the water. My dad always warned me about what to do if that ever happened. So, Victoria, just know what to do when it happens. Cool heads survive. That happened around 1961 or 62 in the port of LosAngeles. Fair sailing.
Definitely, too many pillows and I overcame my fear of heights in the military. It's not easy, but it can be done! Just keep telling yourself "I can do this and I own it 💪!
Rather impressive layout for the age, love the utility space being both a workspace for the engine room and laundry, and overall another great tour! Thoughts on the condition(s)/initial changes updates I'd likely want within the 1st year of owning: - That boat deck really could use collapsible tender chocks, cheap and easy update that would open the entire area for use while on-hook/dingy deployed - The freestanding furniture is a bit dated (though still in great condition) but think I'd probably want to redo the interior brightwork to a lighter (and low gloss or matte) wood grain/finish, maybe a light or mid-honey maple tone... - Helm I could go either way.. full reno if I was going to fulltime cruise, maybe just refinish the console platform/top and update the switches/gauges Everything else I might later want to address would be longer term updates/upgrades as time/money allowed lol For your trivia question: Cockpit: Traditionally a "pit" or lowered deck portion where the helm controls (originally a tiller and helmsmen [a.k.a. cockswain]) would be located. Basically just a reduction of the "cockswain-pit.". At least that is what I was always told... The urban legend version is far less family friendly, but immensely funnier.
The strange feeling you get affects a lot of folks…admitting it and being honest about it is what takes courage…It is like taking someone afraid of heights and tell them to lean over a roof and not be afraid…
Victoria, I watch every video, love spending time with you and Rico. I wanted to thank you for your betterhelp recommendation. I highly recommend as well.
This was one of my favorite owner suites and galleys! Than you for showing this one. I love how you both have the same enthusiasm for the less expensive yachts as the higher end ones. Victoria, thank you for sharing. You may never know how many you helped with this episode. Praying you will overcome this issue.
What an incredible boat for its age, really spacious with a nice flow and that owners cabin is awesome. Cushions ! definitely 4 max anymore and I would throw them off the boat. Keep your spirits high Victoria your best therapist is Rico, very brave of you to share this personnel fear, we are all here for you xxx. Thanks for all you give us on this channel.
I have to say, Wow, that is such a nice ship. The owner really kept it up, and modified it right. I'd love to own it, and live aboard myself. Most newer ships don't have 'Style' like this. So much new that fits in so well with the classic beauty that you'd think a 'gentleman's yacht' builder had totally built the inside from scratch last year.
In the Royal Navy, the term "cockpit" originally meant the place where the coxswain was stationed. This led to the word being used for the area near the stern of a small boat that houses the rudder controls. The midshipmen and master's mates were later assigned to sleep in the cockpit. It was also the place where the ship's surgeon and his mates were stationed during battle. The term existed long before aircraft were invented.
Thank you for your vulnerability and bravery Victoria. On the humorous side I did like the flat aft comment- even though I have never had a boat I did have a flat aft once ;)
Victoria, I think that was an induction stovetop. As chefs, we love them. The heat is conducted only when a metal pot is placed upon it. Once the pot is removed, all heat is lost. NO FIRES can happen unless you reduce a wine or sherry stock and leave the pot on to catch fire.
Hi Victoria. Thank you for talking about your stress issues. I have had two nevus brake downs and I have been blessed to find great therapists I resently moved out of state and I'm having problems finding one now. I'm going to try how you recommend. THANK YOU. By the way I'm an avid viewer. Love you two. The content and wormth of your shows are awesome.❤❤❤😊😊😊
Thanks for sharing!! Yes, being able to use their services remote is what really spoke to me as we are always on the move… like right now we are in Germany and I’m texting with my therapist. Huge hug 🫂 really hope you find someone great soon
Wow, Victoria and Rico, Amazing Yatch.. Thank You Victoria for sharing Your Fear of boarding.. All this time of watching You both boarding Amazing Yatchs around the World.. I would never have imagined this, Thank You So Much, You have Such Strength, Thank You... Can't wait to see Another Episode in Turkey on Your Next Trip, I've been Truly Converted to Bering Yatchs 💜👏🏽👏🏽
ANOTHER GREAT BOAT VICTORIA...SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR FEARS 😨 😟 OF BOARDING YACHTS. BUT I AM GLAD THAT YOU ARE TAKING THE NECESSARY STEPS TO OVERCOME YOUR FEARS.IF ANY BODY CAN DO IT ITS YOU..🎉🎉❤..
Cockpit would be from the old sailing ships that had the helms in the rear. The emergency rudder is back there. Oh! In a prayer we pray to God fro. protection from all anxiety. My wife Nadira and I just suffered the loss of our famous cat Zoe of 9 years and we expected her to live another 8 or so. We have 2 dogs but are truly heart broken over this beloved family member. We will keep you guys in our prayers.
Two pillows, one on each side - but I'm a guy. Victoria, you are a brave lady. I have a similar issue due to some physical problems: In 1982 I had my first hip replacement, which was botched a bit, and I wound up with a left leg 3/4 inches shorter than my right (that's been fixed since; I've had 3 surgeries on the same hip to date). I had to wear a built-up shoe for 12 years after that. Months after the surgery, I was going up a ladder to check on the gutters on our first house, a 1-story ranch. I'd done this dozens of times before, but this time, my head said we were going up, but my legs begged to differ. I never got my right foot off of the ground. Fortunately, I don't really have to go up ladders anymore, so this mental limitation isn't much of an issue for me. I have seen you scamper around your boat build on a small temporary walkway, something I'm sure I couldn't do. You are doing all right, and will do better with time. You have my permission to curse my name rather than Rico's if you get upset about this - I'm sure Jane (my wife) won't mind, and might even join in! BTW, I think there may have been a porthole in the VIP head. Yes?
Awesome boat tour. Would love to own it, but a bit out of our budget. Victoria, thanks for being open about your situation. I have a similar problem brought on from a time I missed the last step on a job site and landed on a concrete pad and then rolled into gravel that was beyond the landing. I messed up my knee and it took over a year of rehab to get it back somewhat to "normal." Even seven years later, I still have issues going down stairs. Most times, I have to take one step at a time. Yes, we all show our "pretty" side on social media, etc., but it is more common to show that life is not always what it seams. My brother who is the CEO of a boat accessory company has dedicated a portion of his biography page to talk about his struggles with panic attacks, etc. Fair winds and following seas to you both!
Gorgeous live aboard. I'd never leave. We have the same type of anxiety. The counselling is the ticket & for me it was learning coping skills and *NOT* medication. Be patient, it's worth it. ❤❤
Victoria, You Sweet and Adorable just be you never change Plus worry not you got this ! .Thank You for Introducing me to ( The Motor Yacht Loon)....xxxxx
I love this boat. My dream liveaboard is about this size and configuration, except it's got a bathtub or a hot tub (I don't care which, but I need hot water!), disabled accessibility, solar panels to run the house with, and transoceanic capacity. If I ever find a boat like that I'll sell my house and go to sea. :) (And yes, I know that if I want a bathtub and accessible passageways/elevator/etc, I can't actually have one this size. Hopefully if it's well designed it wouldn't need to be *too* much bigger, but I'm dreaming, not trying to be realistic.)
@@NautiStyles Okay, I just finished watching your Impossible Dream video and WOW! I love the lifts on that boat -- it's hard to get wheelchairs down into the hulls of a catamaran or up onto a boat from the dock (especially without an accessibly designed passarelle), but they nailed it. So simple and so easy to use, and they take up almost no extra space! There are a few other accessible catamarans out there -- I think Alva makes a semi-accessible power cat, and I actually spoke to them about whether they intended to make a fully accessible one someday. They don't have current plans to do it as a standard model, but were enthusiastic about taking on the project as a custom job. So when I can afford to have a custom yacht built, I guess I know where to go! (Pedigree shipyard, here in Washington, was also interested in doing a custom designed fully accessible catamaran, either power or sail.) Doing it custom would get me my tub and my solar panels, too. 😂
Listen to Victoria with the trivia over here lol 😆 as for the term "cockpit" it's different vernacular, depending on whether it's nautical or it's aviation? Typically, cockpit was always where the controls were but not with the the modern trend in boat sizes.... which is now reserved for the aft entertainment section of larger yachts - entertainment spaces I believe to be aft of amidships... for the most part off the stern deck - the main distinction being cockpit is for aircraft, helm for boats. So the "cockpit" (as it were) is a difference in expressing contemporary nautical vernacular. And that is a beautiful thing. Sharing a personal struggle that people may or may not passively may pick up on and some of the content you put up, our hearts and prayers are with you too, but you two are just fine. He needs to be patient and love on you and you need to respect the fact that he's doing that... Do that and you two will be fine - blessings ❤️🙏
I get the feeling from the styling & color choices that the owners are not hyperactive sun-worshippers, preferring a relaxed, non-glaring environment. Being essentially nocturnal by necessity myself, I found that dimmer, desaturated fashion was soothing, whereas the deliberately "festive" bright color-drenched typical yachts are like a continuous smack in the head. The boat itself seems appropriately made to work in cool climates, not just the tropical blazing heat. It gives you a lot of ways to shut out the life-sucking freezing wet winds of the higher latitudes. You could do springtime or autumn on the Great Lakes and still get to use the vast majority of even the "social" floorspace.
9:29 Your bravery is inspiring ❤️ I can relate to the immense challenge of revealing yourself and your struggles to the world, and the emotions you feel are very evident as you speak. I have had a problem with depression for more than 40 years, and it has been incredibly debilitating in my life. I have been through counseling a few times and am currently seeing someone, but the path to recovery is long and arduous. I don't possess the eloquence to express my thanks to you for your honesty, but I am infinitely grateful nonetheless 😊
I love the sort of elegant practicality of Viking vessels. They know what each deck/level is for, and they make efficient use of that level for its purpose. No tetris-like 1/2 and 1/4 staircases haphazardly strewn around blocking the flow and function. No excessive redundancy in space utilization. Great galley. Effective outside spaces that haven't been stretched beyond their need, nor crammed with irrelevant "features" and trip-hazards for some checklist advertisement. They just consistently make solid, useful boats for their categories.
This yacht has a really unique design to it and looks very roomy on the interior 👍👍 I have to agree with Victoria that too many pillows on a bed is just overkill. Why not just have a few pillows on the bed instead of 20? 😂 I really enjoyed watching the video!! 👍👍
I love that the video's intro stuck to just exterior shots this time. I've often felt that the intros where you show bits from basically the entire tour spoils too much of the video right from the start. This was totally non-spoilery and I loved it!
That's a lot of boat for the money, and the owners suite is massive! Very nice boat overall, only cons I can see - fiberglass hull, and limited range with only 1750 US Gal fuel capacity - those two 675 hp Detroit V12 , them some thirsty fellars! lol - but a great liveaboard boat especially if you got a permanent docking space in the marina.
😊opinions and taste, love the play on words the two of you have in every show . Prayers for your anxiety, your not alone and accepting is the first step . Phobia’s do not discriminate across sex or cultures. Stay strong and be well . Looking forward to the next show like a kid for cartoons !
I really like the wood and the layout of this one. The quality of the casework is really impressive. I like the kitchen, too. Perhaps things are slightly dated, but I think I'd tell people it is "classic" if it were mine!
