Absolutely love if you'd do more stuff like this, it's nice to learn about the little things that make streaming just a little bit easier and more comfortable!
I love this. Please make more. I think I'm going to get all of them. Make this a series. So good. I always have thought you either have to buy expensive things or you can't stream.
Lol as you said 'You know how much I like cable management' I immediately looked at the background and thought 'yeah you did a great job of cable-managing the light switch next to your door and the cables coming from the ceiling' Jokes aside, great video and very helpful Harris. TY!
Currently planning an entire new office from renovating to furnishing, so looking to fill it more :^) much love! The Hype Meter is a personal favorite of a project, was super fun to conceptualize!
Please make this a series I’m trying to find things like this to stream and setup. And it’s very overwhelming trying to go through everything and seeing a video like this with someone else talking about items helps a lot
For everybody trying to get started streaming and picking up cheap boom arms that hang off the side of the desk: Do not. They will break easily. Look at stuff similar to the Rode PSA1, you won't regret it. I got an "EJT Heavy Duty Microphone Stand" with 19" arms and a spring in the body and it's working wonders for me. Make sure you get a high quality mount for it as well though, I don't like the ones that hang off the side of the desk and dont support the weight, which is what this one came with. I spent like an extra $10 and got one that puts the weight on the surface of the desk like the Blue Compass and Rode PSA1. The arm and the stand cost me less than $50 total
"But wait, there's more! If you call within the next 20 minutes we'll throw in a second unit for free!" Ah, infomercials. I do not miss them. Great video! Would love to see more of these videos.
Love this! Do more of this. It helps with ideas for modifying both personal, work, and mobile setups. It would be super cool for you to do a segment on pro mobile setups that you can take down and pack up and/or put back up from a pelican case when on the go.
Super pumped about the versatile wall mounts! I'm moving into a tiny house this week and need to figure out how to configure my streaming setup for gaming and work without taking up too much space. That tablet wall mount with the sleeves is perfect for easy setup and breakdown. Now I just need to figure out how to have a desk and chair that doesn't take up all the space 😅
The wall mount from elgato is the most interesting for me. A wall mount for that low price and being super sturdy? Count me in! The other mount too is nice, but didnt scream "BUY ME" as hard. The HUE thing smart home stuff? This for sure is worth considering--- at least when I redid my studio!
I'm definitely interested in the Wall Mount, I have very small desk real estate and my desk is built into my walls, so I can't mount anything behind it. My ideal setup would be a mix of the wall mount and flex arm for a camera (which is also currently my phone) and the solid arm coming off of it with a shotgun/pencil condenser mic. Currently getting by with a $8 mic arm, $5 tripod and a microphone I got in a pack of two for a 2007 Wii karaoke game that was worth 10c when I sold the other one in a second hand tech shop.
Wall mounts are super helpful! I got these cheap ones that are meant for security camera. I used them for my small LED lights and my second webcam. Love them.
One of my favorite series on another channel is cool tech under $50. It’s a monthly recommendation of that creator’s cool tech under $50 finds. However, he doesn’t focus on tech for creators. I LOVE the idea of a series like it that will. Please do it!
Really enjoyed this video I have philips hue lights and I didn't know about that plug in. I would love more videos like this where it's gear under $50 or $100 and so on. Everyone loves to streamline, optimize, and minimize clutter for set ups, offices, and studios so anything that does that is a good video too
Yes, more of this type of content. It is very useful since I am going to become numero uno on streaming pretty soon. And btw, the rope on your hoody is not even, the devil is in the details, and let us not forget that one. Regarding cold extremeties, eating some sort of chilisuplementstuff do the trick. Feetrest that is raised above the floor also helps.
Please do make these somewhat regularly. Trying to get a quality but budget friendly streaming and filming setup put together can be a real challenge. Even better if it's gear you have personally used and can vouch for.
For me, my biggest upgrade was buying a *deeper* desk. the z depth was not big enough on my other desk and everything felt so cluttered. I was able to build my desk for cheap from getting an old desk from a friend and restaining it, so it's possible to get one under $50.
This was probably ur best video in weeks. Im actually considering buying some of these and also i really appreciate the way you talked about them and kept it to the point. Sometimes ur videos kinda went on for too long but this was perfect
Monthly is awesome! The more the merrier. This type of content is what originally brought me here. The wall mount was the best for me personally because I know photo/video gear the least. Congrats on the new bebe too! I'm also a parent so I really appreciate you taking the time to do these. A lot of us are on a budget and these videos are sooooo incredible for us.
You could also do things like lighting one week, audio one week, photo/video gear, photo/video tips and tutorials like you did with enhancing the cheap webcams, and this length is great too. It's succinct and has a tasteful brevity. I hate filler and your videos never have them. Thanks again for all of the info!!
wall mount everything!! it’s my working from home for years million dollar tip for functionality and small space! you’re saving the money from commuting, save yourself some inconvenience too
I use to enjoy seeing all these gadgets and new innovation from infomercials , not sure about other places but there use to be a segment on a tv channel that played informercials for 2 hours every evening. I enjoyed tuning into that lol
Love everything in this one very informative hope you make this a series and you should look to do like a few updated reacts to older gear in the past. But also should look to do one over gaming desks/office desks reviews
I clicked on to this thinking I didn't need anything for my setup, I am leaving this with 4 new items in my amazon basket... The ability to turn on and off my camera on the stream deck is an absolute life changer!
I always enjoy seeing videos that showcase useful gadgets for my office set up. Videos like this give me ideas that I would not have had otherwise and I always enjoy seeing how people have their desks set up. Speaking of, what kind of desk are you using in the video? I have plans to build my own and Im looking for something similar to that deep kona butcher block that you seem to have.
More people need to know who you are. You are single handedly the most helpful person when it comes to streaming ANYTHING. IMO. Aloha for all the help!!!
“Do I know what an infomercial is?” Grandad used to sit there and watch the infomercial channel 😂 Would buy random stuff all the time, from jewellery & house appliances, to a motor-tricycle styled mobility scooter.
On the mouse charger the other option but more is the Logitech power play mat. You never have to move the mouse to charger. The mouse is always charged.
Infomercials are long form commercials. Most commonly seen on The Shopping Channel (or is it Network?) but they could also be on regular channels in the middle of the night.
Love these kind of videos….. love learning about cool tech that can improve my setup… and even if it’s not something I’d get… still enjoy learning about it. Please do more!!
You know... When you start using Home Assistant it really becomes irrelevant what smart outlet you use and realize a lot of them are still relatively expensive. So, Ikea also has smart outlets, they don't do much in their app. However. Ikea(and Hue) also intergrate in Home Assistant. In home Assistent they suddenly become as powerful as any other, more expensive, smart outlet. And guess what.... You can control home assistant through steam deck! Home Assistant is free, though you will need a device to put it on as it is essentially also a smart home solution. Home Assistant can run on a Rasberry Pi(what I have) but also in a VM if needed. It also runs ona NAS but this i haven't tried. They also have a genereic X86 installer so perhaps you can install it on an old laptop if you want. Currently I run all my lights through home assistant, infact, my Ubiquiti Acces point also runs via Home assistant. Home assistant is stupendously powerfull and fully free to use everything is stored locally too. Though, if you want to acces it from a remote location you can portforward or pay about 5 bucks for their service. Though do keep in mind that Home Assistant can't intergrate with everything, but you can see their intergrations easily on their website. It does support Z-wave and zig bee.
These wall mounts are quite permanent changes to rooms that might not be dedicated to streaming alone. I would argue that most streamers would also not rock more than one camera at the same time. For me the best gadget was that warming pad actually.
Literally buying the iPad stand right now. It will be nice to move from the workout room to the garage and gaming room and still be able to put on kitchen counter for cooking. Another great vid.
For smart home stuff, I recommend the Homeassistant integration for Streamdeck. Anything that can roll into HASS, can be controlled by a Streamdeck. Lights, TVs, air conditioning, security, whatever. Also reads back things like wattage from power reporting plugs and CT clamps.
Thank you for the neat gadgets Harris! Would love more of these, so many things you never knew existed and once you find out about them they can change your life in the smallest ways!
I love videos like this. Gives me ideas for how to make my office a much better place to work! Btw, anyone remember those infomercials where you "set it and forget it"?
Billy Mayes here! We have some amazing offers for you today!!! BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!! I watched tell-sell a hell of a lot when I was a kid.. because it was the only thing that was on at 3am xD (I've been a night stalker my entire life) So I had a serious chuckle when you did the... but wait theres more XD As for the items you showed... I'm kinda interested in the elgato wall mount and flex arm combo.. I'm gonna look into that as my desk mounted mic arm is kinda meh and I need to replace it eventually anyway... so why not have it drop in from the top with the bundle... And finally... I love these "looking for deals" videos... I'm permanently on a very tight budget so having cool useful stuff for a very decent price is really awesome !!!
Awesome video! Been looking forever for a better way to charge my mouse, and the logitech g powerplay-pad is way to small for my liking. That mouse charger is exactly what I need, but never seen before *throws credit card at screen*
That wall mount sounds insane! are you able to take the thread bit off to screw in your camera or do you have to screw your camera in once its on the wall? (if that makes sense)
Oh how i missed these videos, loved every single one of these cheap streaming gear videos. If you see this Harris Heller, I love you and the PC I won from the Streambeats Giveaway last year. You're my biggest influence to succeed in life, whether it be Game Design or YT/Streaming. I'm forever grateful!
Hey! Absolutely do more of theese videos, I don't know if you realise how much you're helping us small and medium streamers to improve the quality of our streams. From this video, the one I'm going to use the most is the Hue Smart Plug. There are some RGB LED lights that I can't access with their remotes, so I have to plug/unplug every time I stream or appear in a stream, and they're going to be really useful to me since they have Stream Deck integration. The wall mounts I can't use as of right now since I stream from the library at my parents home (still a small streamer, lol), and basically I don't have walls to mount them. Although I use the actual libraries, so the only thing I have attached to my desk is my 3-monitor stand, which isn't affected when I stream. P.S: I know what an infomercial is, and loved the reference!
Although I don't have a logitech mouse I would definitely buy that charger it seems very clean rather than a cable on the desk to charge a mouse. I really love these types of videos, helps with what I need or to upgrade my setup over time!
Omg i checked your kit lists like last week and was like “aah Harris has been too busy to update these yet! Don’t blame him!” And BAM you updated them!!! Great set of gear suggestions… might look into those heated pads…
"you walked into our stream setup like 2 to 3 days after the the stream and noticed our camera was still on" gee it made me laugh so bad as it happened so many times I can't even count it. Amazing video as always! Thank you
I've been looking at the logitech doc for a while now nice to see that you got it and love it, so that was helpful. But all the tech was cool! Great video!
I like the Elgato camera wall mounts. If you have limited amount of cameras and you can move them around to different mounts. These could also be spray painted white -or whatever the walls are, just to blend in more (then you're not using them).
Re: the plugs, there's various competing plugs from other manufacturers that are a lot cheaper per unit. I personally use ones from TP-Link's Kasa series that work really nicely. You might need some external tools to integrate it with the Stream Deck, but they work great regardless.
I rather enjoyed this video. It's kinda fun to see what cool little gadgets exist that just make life easier. though the informercial potential is real. lol also, super awesome that VBI is your sponsor now. LOVE their products!
I love this list. Might have to invest in that heating pad. Also I'm obssessed witht he wall mounts. I think they could be essential when going for a less cluttered desk.
worth mentionng that the mouse charger relies on logitech powerplay system and thats why only those mice are supported. As a result of that, the charger will only charge up to aroud 80% battery becasue it is designed to fluctuate when using the powerplay pad between 60% and 80% without ever going lower. So, you will never be able to use that item to get to a 100% charge.
I bought 2 wall mounts just a couple weeks ago. I dislike that they cap it at 2 per purchase - so I got a cheaper one for the camera but I use the 2 elgato ones for my Lighting rigs. Love them
Question about using the Philips hue plug for your DLSR camera. So I have a cannon m200 that I use for my webcam connected to my pc with a elgato cam link. How does Phillips hue plug allow u to turn it on and off? Does the Phillips hue plug just turn on and off the electricity to the camera? Because N that case don’t I still have to turn the camera on manually by hitting the button? Lmk what you think
