No way Man!!! The best Walmart combo that you can get on a budget is a Abu Garcia MaxZ reel and Vengeance rod. It'll blow your Lews combo away. Try one and feel the difference!!!
Hi, Larry Wild Bill Here from the Show Me State. That rod is perfect for throwing a slobberknocker with 30lb braided line. Get yourself a Max STX reel and you'll have a perfect flipping combo that won't break the bank. It also works great for senkos, worms and flukes type lures. Try it you'll be glad you did and tell em Wild Bill sent you!!!
The Shock rod is actually a pretty good heavy rod, it does look a little crazy IMO... Lol. But mine has never been anything but fun to throw. That medium action lightning rod for lighter stuff has been a go-to of mine for years. Great budget gear that will last if you take care of it. Merry Christmas sir!
Those rods have bad reviews on just about every online shop if not all lol because tge reel seats break or the rod itself does. 1 or 2 out of every 10 turn out ok so hope you got one that won't break.
I have the spinning version of the Shock. It's heavy. I switched a few reels on it and it's tolerable. I have 3 Lightning rods, 2 casting and a spinning. For about the same money, it's a way nicer rod.
The reel seat on those rods are garbage,Larry. The previous model was amazing and lasted forever, but the plastic reel seat will crack. I had the casting and baitcasting and both cracked right on the seam.
Yes, exactly I bought mine a few years back never took it out fishing yet. The first time I took mine out a few weeks. Back. That little clear plastic piece. That holds the real down. Snap like a toothpick. After the first I hooked. Thank God it was only 30 bucks back then. I did not spend $50 on it. For a few dollars more. You can get much better.
Actually, that rod is a pos I bought one a few years back pay $30 for it never had a chance to take it out to go fishing I took it out a week ago for the first time and the first fish I caught it broke a little plastic piece that holds the real place snapped like a toothpick after I hooked a fish if I could send pictures on here, I would I would not waste my money on that rod
It's a common issue. Mine broke too setting a hook. Rod in left hand and reel in right hand had me puzzled for a moment lol. That little seat lock is the only weak point on these rods and you can't replace them. It's a shame because it is a decent rod apart from that.
