This is just sales 101. Some interesting things to notice is that if Linus was able to get the card for $175 just through haggling the seller would probably feel bad for selling at such a low price. Now with the added story the seller will get $175 but feel really good about the sale because he thinks he helped someone. Its really a win win. The buyer get the price they want and the seller gets to feel good. If the seller did not value the "feel" he gets from the sale than he would have just rejected the offer.

I think ltr should do a scrapyard wars over here in the UK. I built mine for 500GBP or 882CAD and it ran GTA5 at max 65fps. Old parts are cheap over here for a scrapyard wars

if it were the 970, i would not argue with you, but bcz it was 980, it would be even more of a value... Now, with 200$ you can buy a brand new 1060 with 3gb of vram, now in current market, the 970 would loss 1060 no argue, but it would 10%-20% fps count, so yeh, but the 980 still beat the 1060 in the same amount and 4gb vram is more than 3gb, so when the guy say 220$ is still a very fucking good deal already. And it is not like AMD after market Value do any better than Nvidia, AMD card for most part do alot of bitcoin mining so the price is even worst by then

Does not affect haggling done w/o lying, only affecting ones where they make up stories.

Cut it down to $100, my first gaming pc was a $100 challenge, it had gtx 950, i3 3.5ghz, 10gb ram (8 usable, the other 2 were just for show), biostar b85mg motherboard, Seagate 1tb barracuda hdd, and corsair cx750m powersupply. All of it from scrap computers that I bought for $50 less than $50 each. What was the case you ask? 3 cereal boxes with the sides cut out taped together and covered in plastic wrap from my pantry. How long did it take for the pc to catch fire? 3 days.

Trust me when I say that runway fees and jet fuel are not cheap in LA... I would rather drive the extra distance to the next airport over, than be the pilot of a private flight out of LAX. It's kinda stupid how much paperwork there is; at least all those company pilots only see what's not handled by their airline And yes, helicopters sometimes follow the runway lines to take off (depending on a number of factors; I've got a friend that's told me stories about some of the madness she went through to get her licenses and ratings for fixed-wing and helicopter operation)
