Isn’t it time for People to petition their State Gaming Boards and raise the taxable threshold to $5,000? The $1,200 amount was instituted in the 70’s, I believe. That was when $1,200 was considered a lot of money. Today, it’s not even relative to gaming jackpot standards. What are your thoughts?

@@livefree322 …I agree with you, and the Feds let us off the hook, even though the wins do raise our income level on our tax forms, but the real rip-off is the State tax. Unless you can file as Professional Gambler, and not have to pay the State tax, you’re screwed. It’s highway robbery. The States make money on Entrance Head Fee tax every time you enter the casino. They make it on every other tax you can think of that casinos generate (income tax for employees, sales tax from dining, drinks and store purchases, etc…), and then they get tax from our $1,200 or better jackpots. It’s a win-win for the States and a lose-lose for casino patrons.

Wow, that’s crazy I actually won for the first time I did a B2B cruise for my birthday and on my birthday week I went into the casino. Did the penny slots. My biggest hand pay on a slot machine was two year’s ago at Harrah’s Cherokee. I had $100 left and I put it in a machine and played $10. A gentleman to my left said someone had just got a hand pay. On my first spin, I got a 3, 2 and 5 for $20k. I wonder if the person before me did backup spins? 🤑

They should just have attendants posted at banks of machines that let you bet that high. Cool, you won back 5x your bet...but oh, that's over $1200, gotta take 20 minutes to pay out so the government can keep giving kickbacks to billionaires... Whereas you'd need close to 1000x your bet to break 1200 max betting on penny denom.
