The Rebel is a vastly "nicer" truck to daily drive. If you've driven both, that's obvious. The Gladiator is more off road worthy, but not many people are going to go far enough off road to need more than the Rebel.
@@motorcyclemichael2182 me too. I’m hoping for something fresh like what they have done with the Rav4 prime. A Tundra Prime with 500hp and 800tq would hit a sweet spot in the market while being fuel efficient
15,000 miles on the clock of my 2019 ram 1500 Limited. I got it as fully loaded as I could possibly find for the time $72000 MSRP. I can Unequivocally say.... the Etorque system does not benefit the truck in any conceivable way. It doesn't get better gas mileage I average 15 mpg, ( I did replace the stock tires www.customwheeloffset.com/wheel-offset-gallery/911106/2019-ram-1500-xd-badlands-stock ) It isn't any faster. Do not buy etorque, if you're going to get a ram 1500 hemi.
I had the same problem with my 2020 Ram Rebel couldn't do better that 15mpg highway! ...traded it for a Trail Boss LT and its awesome, also 23.4 mpg best with it.
@@rossgreenzweig 👌 nice, I find the Ram to be a more complete package for what I do. I like the look of the trail boss, but My truck has to be a little more on the professional side for realestate. I definitely thought long and hard about getting one that was blacked out and throwing 35"s and a lift kit on it. But that would be more play than work. Which is definitely not the case for me. I do however have plans on getting a 2021 escalate which will free the truck up for more fun stuff.
@@MeliorIlle 😆, Sure that's me the idiot who can afford to waste $72,000... According to you, The rogue genius whom spends his time doling out unsolicited financial advice in the comment section of RU-vid. Well thanks for clearing up who's the idiot and who's the genius. Really don't know what I would have done without you!
@@MeliorIlle You're 100% correct; If, I had wasted $72k, I would be an idiot... I would also be a gigantic mental pygmy! If I wasted my time trying to manage someone else's finances through the comment section on RU-vid. 😉
Guys, let's talk eTorque. 1. Download an accelerometer app on your cell phone (e.g., Sensor Sense) 2. Find a smooth stretch of road. 3. Get two RAMs with identical power trains side-by-side, one with eTorque and one without, and drive them down that road while recording the acceleration on your phone. Make sure you place the phone at the same spot in each truck so it's an apples-to-apples comparison. 4. Objectively compare the accelerations from each gear shift between the eTorque and non-eTorque transmissions.
Wow you mean to tell me a full size truck has a bigger interior, bed and can tow more?? No way! I had a 17 Power Wagon and i loved it but for what my needs are i like my gladiator more overall. And it’s crazy that with 37s on my gladiator i get around 16.8mpgs compared to in the 11s with 35s on the Ram
@@fmrscout33 what year is your power wagon? Do you have 35s? My current commute is 13 miles on country backroads with very few stops and I’m averaging 19mpg.
You can option a 2500 Tradesman with the Power Wagon Package along with a few other options and stay under $55K MSRP. This is just one more choice available - each of the the trucks has Pro's and Cons. Maybe FCA should offer a Blender option instead of the E Torque that does nothing!
I like the parking lot review but would be much nicer to have an actual off-road test to see which one is more capable. Thanks for the videos! Love your perspectives.
Tough call on picking one of those two. The Ram has so much more room and towing capability but the Jeep is so much better offroad. Ok neither. Keep building my 1973 Chevy K20. Lol
Great comparison you guys"!!and they have decent news I found another Chevrolet Astro van all-wheel drive then I am going to convert and turn back into my beast mobile, I'm going to switch everything over from my older van if I can get to it before it gets towed so pray for us on keeping up with the wofford's on Facebook
"You're carrying a dog..." Haha, awesome video guys, truely awesome... Edit: just finished the whole thing and what came to my mind... I've been watching your guys' videos since the reveal of the Gladiator two years ago and ever since then I've been eagerly awaited the release of the vehicle in Germany. It's awesome though to be able to watch your videos on a daily basis and the fact that Tommy has gone the whole nine yards on his way to adulthood in the meantime just made the ridiculously long waiting time apparent to me. Keep up the great work, guys!
I’m seriously skeptical about the etorque system. Is it reliable? I hate the idea of the 48v system combined with the 12v battery. It just seems so unnecessary. Just another system to go wrong and expensive to replace down the road. Sucks all 2021 AT JL’s have it with the 3.6.
Haha good on Tommy for calling the the Etorque , as being nothing but a start stop system. That I'll ad is going to he insanely expensive to fix. Better hope that belt never Flys off too.
I just bought a 2024 rebel and they told me it towed 12000 but after I bought it going through all the paper work it can only tow 7200. It’s the air shock version. I traded in my Mojave gladiator for it that can only tow 4500. I thought I was grabbing the model with front and top 360 camera but I didn’t. How hard is it to add those extra cameras ?
Have a question, with all the videos that yall put out, and are all great btw. Haven't heard mention the troubles with the Check engine light, or codes or the start stop system that seems like EVERYONE is having issues with. Are yall not allowed to tell the negative real world stuff for fear if losing sponsorship?
I had a 2019 wrangler sahara with all the options, no problems. I currently have a 2021 Rebel, that i've owned for a little more than a year. Also zero issues. The wrangler was a 2.0 turbo and the rebel is the 5.7. I also have friends with Jls and no issues reported. So "Almost everyone" is a tad steep
I own a 2020 Jeep Sport Wrangler 6Speed 3.6L and a RAM 1500 5.7L V8 Hemi for my company work truck and RAM is a drunk Pig on gas in town city driving. Highway is better, probably 19MPG. One of my workers has the Rebal Edition and same complaint on MPG city daily driver.
I'd buy the Rebel for my daily driving and occasional light off road. I'd buy a 3 year old gladiator for more adventurous off roading/camping and wouldn't mind if it picked up scratches or dents. The gladiator is too crude to drive everyday and the Rebel is too nice to beat in the hills.
If you off-road for real 3 weekend a month over 5+ months...jeep. if you commute, haul anything for diy or home use, and want to overland and camp like most actually do without any 'hardcore' off road...the Ram, or any 1500 size truck. My F150 was 33k out the door, missing a lot of bells and whistles like heated seats, but the STX had almost everything I actually needed, very suited for what we needed.
I think that the Rebel offers a lot more for the money, and is the more complete, utilitarian package. When it comes down to everyday comfort & drivability, payload & towing capacity, and power, unless you're planning on spending most of your time trying to crawl up to the top of El Capitan, I can't see purchasing a Gladiator, especially if it was going to be your sole mode of transportation.
And ... Don’t forget... You get to get out of Jeep every couple miles to clean the windshield when it snows... Thanks to its terrible defrost system...😳😳😳... Thanks to Tommy and his Pop for pointing that out...👍... I’m with Andre...You seem to get a whole lot more with the Rebel ...🤙🤙🤙
Have had a 1500 EcoDiesel ram1500 slt, now have 21 gladiator Rubicon diesel.. and I LOVE it I truly do... But going back to a 22 ram rebel diesel - with 2 kids, a 6000lb trailer and long highway drives, as much as I'm an enthusiast the rebel does 95% of the offroad I will reasonably do and is far far far better at towing and on long highway drives.
Had a 12 sport s manual. Both pentasars run. Some of us finance these machines.and they work real world much better than your tests show. I have a travel trailer. I don't tow it with my wife's jeep I tow it with my 05 gmc k3500 regular cab 6.0 nv4500.
This is what happens when Tommy, Andre and Alex are bored and don’t have anything to do so they decide to just go talk about the 2 trucks in the parking lot. I like the less scripted videos.
I just got back from a road trip from California to Telluride, Co. i sacrificed on road driveability for off road capability by taking the Wrangler JKUR over my Rebel. Taking the Wrangler actually worked out really well and now might consider selling both for a Gladiator.
Me and the wife both looked at the Ram Rebel and the Gladiator. We both went for the Rebel. I mean comfort, the 12 inch screen, and off-road capabilities are good enough for the outdoor, camping, hiking light wheeling, stuff we do.
Ford ran a ranger ad before the video. Not your fault. Touting it it a 10 speed juice box. Maybe they need to get of their band wagon and admit Jeep has a manual still available
Andre, in the mid 90s, I briefly worked at a Lincoln/Merc dealership as a service writer. ALL of the techs in the back called them, BLISSTEN shocks, lol.
Honestly, I like the look of the TRX grill better than the Rebel grill. The "mustache" staying below the RAM badge looks a lot better than swooping above the badge. It would be nice if they modify the Rebel grill as such.
I chose Trailboss. For 51k Canadian. 1700lbs of payload. 9500lbs towing. Ps that rebel with "11 000lbs" of towing is kinda BS. You'd never be able to pull that with a family of 4 plus a dog inside.
Guys come on let's get those engines cleaned that engine in the Jeep doesn't look like u touched it since you bought it .. I'd be embarrassed to show that .. also man these walk around gotta agree are getting a little long
I'm probably in the minority here - but I kinda wish they would have retained the crosshair grille on the Ram trucks. I'm not a big fan of the mustache grille, makes the truck look like a catfish to me.
Let's see u take the panels and doors off show us the process and time needed that be something new u haven't done vs review the truck again again it's kinda boring 🤣
The gladiator as much more style and look but for everything else, I would choose the Ram. Btw, you should do the dog test in each of your trials Lol! 😁
Great Video i like the Rebel more than the Jeep by mostly everything unless your doing mostly off road, Rebel will always be the better choice. Also Tommy needs to hit the gym for that upper body strength gain. Id also wait a year or two and wait till the depreciation hit and buy the Rebel for 30ish.
Comparing a Jeep to anything but a Jeep is silly... entertaining but silly. When someone goes to buy a Jeep they need to “want” and “understand” what a Jeep is and is about I’ve Owned Jeeps since 2004 and absolutely love them. However I’ve talked more people out of buying them than I have into buying them. The “It’s a Jeep thing you wouldn’t understand” is true
My daughter has a ram with pentastar. My brother has a hemi. 19 and 19. 1\4 mile pentastar rules in Oklahoma. Watched it 3 times. I now have a 2021 JL sport s unlimited Aisin 6 speed manual.
I would choose....to keep my current truck. $55k to replace my current truck is just not an option. It has over 436k miles and it's paid off. It tows, hauls and can do any off roading that I care to do. Would it be nice to have brand new again...yes. I'll just keep mine until it dies completely.
Jeep Gladiator MOAB is the best. Dang near as capable as the Rubicon in rock crawling, and way more comfortable overlanding and desert running at faster speeds.
I used to have a Ram until I bought my gladiator. When you buy a jeep, you are buying an adventure. I can’t wait for the weekends to come around just so I can go up the mountains and explore.
