I can’t complain too much about 13. Not my favorite brand, but if i can catch their gear at the right time and at the right price,I’ll invest. Keep up the great work,Alex! You’re killing it!
Got an Abu Garcia Pro Max rod and reel combo that was originally $99.99 but got it for $69.99. I love it and it was an awesome deal just in time for me getting it as a grad gift.
A few weeks ago I felt like you posted a video everyday when I got home from work. Was awesome kicking back and watching just relaxing. Thanks for the videos Alex.
Probably the most honest, realistic and unbiased review I have seen in many years. None of that "I'm blowing my horn cuz I'm paid to say crap" malarkey. 👍🏻 😎 So cool.
Been watching you effortlessly cast that thing since early spring. Was already thinking about getting the same reel. Now I’m going to pick one up for sure. Great review! Nice to see someone actually use the product for more than two minutes before putting their mouth in gear. 👍
Great video! My oldest reel, nearly 50 years old, and my newest reel both have centrifical systems. I have three other reels with magnetic control. I do not like the magnetically controlled reels nearly as well. Both that old reel and the new reel fit well in my hand, as you discussed, and it is a real advantage. My oldest reel still casts better than any of my other reels. The newest reel is a close second. However, the much faster retrieve on my newest reel is certainly nice for all the reasons you mentioned. The fast retrieve has another advantage. When a hooked fish decides to swim toward me sometimes the old reel won't take up the slack fast enough. That is especially true when one swims toward me and comes clear out of the water.
I recently got into baitcasting and surprisingly I learned it quick. It only took 1 day, and have only had 2 backlashes since I started 2 months ago. I didn't go cheap for my first setup, which the Bass Pro guy thought I was crazy for. I spent $220 on my first setup. Bought the Abu Garcia Veritas 7"0 Medium Heavy Rod and Pro Qualifier 2 6:8:1 reel ; both absolutely amazing. I spent so much because then I felt forced to learn. If i spent less than $100 i wouldn't of cared as much if i just stopped trying.
I picked one of these up about a week ago. I saw how good it was working for you, I hope mine holds up and works just as good. Great review Alex. Good idea of putting clips in. Keep it realistic.
I know it's silly but I still love the mahogany grips on the crank on my oldest reel. I don't know how Shimano did it but the grips have been used for over 45 years and they still have a perfect finish.
An excellent review of a reel I know little about. Very realistic and practical for most fishermen. No pie in the sky as I've seen in reviews by sponsored narrators with vested interests..
I have the 13 fishing Origin C and its the best reel I own. Super versatile and the breaking system is so freaking smooth no matter what I throw. Great channel man I love it. Oh and try simple green on your grips and cleaning the outside of your reel. Its biodegradable and wont harm the body of the reel or anything.
I've never seen '13' products in Ontario, I'm sure there are similar style and quality up here though. I often miss solid bites and I also keep my drag fairly tight. Your mention of backing the drag off a little is good advice, I'll try it this weekend. Thanks for all the realistic suggestions.
The 13 fishing reels (baitcaster/spinning/freefall) are generally very good reels at that price point. I will say though. I worked as Product Specialist, for the fishing department, of one of the top 5 big name outdoors/sporting goods stores in the US, and we received waaaaay more returns on broked 13 rods, then all other rods combined! I moved on from that job about a year ago, so maybe they have gotten their shit together since then, but boy were there rods junk at that time.
Another great video. Always good stuff for the average Joe 6 pack guy. Just straight up honest reviews. Nephew just gave me a 13 Origin combo in white because he can't cast a baitcaster. I gave him an Ugly Stik spinning combo, the one I always recomend for ease of use, durability, and value.
Good vid as always, I picked an inception last month and I also have to tell you that I am very impressed by it. Only thing I dont like is a cracking vibration on the line guide, but other than that a great reel, even considerate as one of my to go reels. Thumps up so far. Keep up the good work sir, still enjoying your vids!
I have a origin TX, a concept z, and a fate black gen 2 which the concept z is on and I absolutely love all of them. The concept z is definitely worth the extra cost if you can get past the price tag because it is absolutely silent after using for a while and will consistently case around 5 yards farther. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with the origin other than you can hear the bearings loudly in mine even when oiled but that is a very nit-picky thing to complain about. They are both much better than the Lew's tournament MB and Abu black max that I have. So if you're not looking to spend a fortune get the origin but if you're looking for the best of the best try the concept z.
Great channel man! One of my top favs. Question about the Origin A: I just picked up one and liked it a lot until I started using it. Spooled up 12 mono, 7’ MH/F, 3/8 oz plug. Nothing but backlashes, no matter which brake setting I used. My Reels of choice are Abus, and I thought I’d see what 13 is all about. Have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks for the great vids man. -Roger
I agree with the looser drag. I hear about people locking down their drag and then whining about hooks bending out and loosing fish, with your drag properly set that won't happen. If you need to lock it down put your thumb on the spool people.
I really like that reel too, just the look of it and I watched you test it with a 1/4oz lure. I actually like the handles like that, if they were super bright white I think it would turn me off more cosmetically. Thanks for Realistically reviewing!
Never used any of their rods or reels. May pick one of those up. Been itching for a new reel lol. Great video Alex. (Just noticed I have a 10 dollar off coupon at dicks so that’ll make it 70 bucks. Still not bad.) Gonna pick me up some different color grips also lol
Great review Alex. I like the Origin TX (green one) and the Inception reels from 13 Fishing. I own a Shimano SLX in 7.2 ratio and to me it's fast. It does pick up the line quick though.
Realistic Fishing yeah I’ve just heard the metal lasts longer. I’ve seen the Daiwa Fuego CT for as cheap as $60 and I got mine for $72. Great review tho, keep up the hard work
you know, i was looking into the 13 fishing concept Z bait caster, the orange one, and it didn't have the best reviews so i was unsure what to do. but seeing that you seemed to enjoy your reel from the same brand makes me feel like looking back at something by 13 fishing would be something i should consider again. maybe just to something as expensive as the concept z. thanks for this video
I always destroy my reels frog fishing in the slop after a couple seasons. My frog reels are always the first ones to start making noise. Nice frog fish!
Good follow up! I wonder how they stack up against the Lew's and Abbu in the same price range? No reason to pay $150 plus on a reel when a $50 will do just fine!
Wait, wait, wait! Where's the discount code? Where's the factory tour? Why'd you actually use it for 6 months?! Not YOUR usual video, but I enjoyed it! Now, you can do a tutorial and show dummies like me how to actually use a baitcaster.
Great review after some actual time spent using the tool. I'm going to give your review a 9 out of ten. My only complaint...no hype, discount codes, and you got the damn thing dirty! LMAO.
I have a baitcaster but I have no idea how to properly use it. I have it set up for catfishing and I tried to bass fish with it but couldn't figure out how to keep it from backlashing.
