Will can you test a marine amp. Boss MR1000. I know its not the mother of all amps or brother, I just need a little bump and there is literally no vids on the internet concerning this amp. Just some guy unboxing one.
Hey so theres these diablo bullet tweeters DB-550 and they are rates at “1000 watts and i find it hard to believe and just want to know because iv been running them and they sound great nice and loud but wanna get an amp so can you do a review???
The oddest thing you’ve ever seen is called panelizing and is how they get two boards out of one. It’s a super common thing to do in consumer electronics.
Awesome, this was every new driver dream. I installed like 30 of them usually with a ported 12 pioneer subwoofer. The main purpose was to make as much noise as possible so on the remaining 2 channel usually there were 6x9 pioneer speakers. Thanks for that memory 🙏
Thank you BIG D for putting this on, i have seen these on ebay for a few years now, one person was selling one under Alpine name and price saying "very rare" i did message the person to let them know that it was a fake alpine, unfortunately that did not go down very good with the seller telling me to mind my own business ,lol
Any chance you keep a spreadsheet or something with the amps you have tested. prices, and results? I find myself trying to remember certain budget amps but you put out so many videos its hard to go back through them for the ones i want. Thanks for keepin the old school stereo stuff alive, the nostalgia is real lol
We have these in the Philippines on the Lazada website which is similar to your Amazon. If you read the comments on description, the sellers will even let you know the wattage is low😂
Fun fact : negligent reports suggest, running two speaker leads per speaker doubles the rms of the fuse and running a jumper wire from the ground terminal to the negative output terminal when bridged has an inverse square law effect for the subs allowing you to get WELL BEYOND 3800 WHAT'S of pure electrical psi . 😎
My goodness. This might be the biggest piece of junk you have tested yet! Thanks for taking one for the team so we can all stay really far away from this one. I think I could read a single good book on amplifier design and build a better amp than this. You usually have great ideas for videos and good finds of unknown amplifiers to test, but I'd like to see you get back up into the 4k-8k range one more time for fun, and because a lot of us run big subs and lots of power these days with what is available these days. I would love to see you do the Taramps Smart 5. I'd also love to see the bigger Orion HCCA Amplifiers. Anything in the 5k to 8k range would be nice, just to see if they are still pumping out the kinds of extremely over rated power they used to to like the DSPLX 3k did. I know these kinds of videos are really expensive to make, but I'm sure a lot of us are curious if there are any hidden high power gems out there. Either way, always love the content. Hope things are going good for you.
@@wal I personally enjoy seeing the smaller SQ-Type Amplifiers. They don't make a ton of power obviously; but those are the types of amps I might consider running, if I wasn't running OS CLASS A/B Amps. As far as what to do with this amp? You should probably do a giveaway with the following rules. Entrants must upload a video describing "The Most Clever Way They Would Destroy The Amp." 😆 I personally would use it for target practice, & fill it full of various-sized holes. 🎯 😉 👉🏼 💨 💨 💨 💨 💨
So I bought into something similar to this a few times. A couple of years ago I got real big into car audio again and when I checked eBay I was like DAMN! A Lanzar 3000 watt amp for $85.99? Bought it, got it delivered, and as soon as I opened the box I said nahhh...I gave it away. Along with the Pyle 12s that I bought that didn't sound terrible on the PPI "1200 watt" amp that I bought. Right now that PPI "1200 watt" amp is running an 8" Skar IX8 D4 in my Acura TL at full power and it barely pushes it. I wasn't looking for killer bass when I bought the Pyle 12s, but I built a custom vented enclosure for them and they sounded decent with low power, but I soon caught on and dropped some real money on two Sundown SA12-D2s and a Soundstream Rubicon Nano RND5000.1 and they sounded SO much better with 0/1 OFC wire and a big three upgrade. Then I bought two more Sundown SA12-D2s and I also got an Orion HCCA SPLX 3k watt amp and now it's too much...
I have 4 car amplifiers and I have the same model , it's been working fine since 2008 and only had to change gain potentiometers once . It's powering a dual voice coil pioneer 12 inch subwoofer , both coils are bridged
Big G, the girl who fell in the popcorn video does those kind of videos all of the time. Her friend was filming and it was done on purpose. Her name is Paige Ginn.
Another funny vid!!! In a future video can you expand on the IHF 202 standard and explain wat you mean when you say mimicking the tone as opposed to just generating the tone. Thanks.
Agreed. The Amp Dyno’s dynamic test with the 1kHz tone, 14.4V and 4 ohms meets standard for the IHF-202 spec for dynamic power. There are Tech specs for the burst tone as well.
I love your the K on the brand is the new kicker logo and the V12 along with other details are in the old Alpine V12 font! 🤣 When you can't make it, just FAKE IT! lmfao
Kinda sounds like there's excessive DC on the speaker terminals , probably a load of crossover distortion from crappy/no bias too. What a landfill warrior.
To make things even better a lot of your amps do have a low pass and/or high pass crossover you should hook it to an oscilloscope to see if at X hertz if the crossover actually works as stated too
Back in the day. I always thought my V12 I was running for a while was just a `OK’ amp like a budget $35 amp (I paid $35) but fast forward to recent years. I know now that , the V12 I had was actually a badass amp. Lol but 🤷♂️ young and dumb what can I say your honor
My 400 Watt Alpine amp hits just as well on the same subwoofer as the Walmart power acoustic even tho that amp dyno'd like 650 watt or whatever it was. Good amps
Anyone remember Cuspid? In the early 2000s (maybe 2004) eBay was flooded with 1600W Cupid Car Audio amps that had like a 25A fuse and were complete garbage. With the tweeter distortion my guess is those crappy caps can’t even filter the power source noise well, this would likely hum or whine inside a car.
Thank you Big D. I think we've all seen these, known the numbers were a flat out lie but had that thought..."it has to make some noise, though...could be a fun little setup for ____." I know I've thought about it for a little garage stereo project or something.
They sell these in my country and have been for years for cheap.. trying to copy the alpine v12 amps, I had the privilege of owning a true Alpine V12 600w amp.. cleanest amp I've ever owned.. these cheap amps I wouldn't even give these to my enemies.. well, maybe my ex 😂😂
That break-out piece of the board is a common practice. They can lay the entire circuit board out for production, snap the small boards out for fitting in a different location then remarry the boards after wave soldering.
Those mrv-1507 amps popped like fire crackers! Great amp, but can’t take abuse of running subs. 90% of them I sold came back for warranty. Would switch them to MTX, kicker, or RF and everything would be good to go! MTX 81000D Rockford BD1000 & 1500 & 800.2 Then the big ass kickers. I can’t recall the numbers right now.
I think an accurate reading of the dampening factor and slew rate would really tell the story here on what's happening with the tweets. Driver control isn't just for woofers. 50% THD don't help either though.
Great job man, I'm thankful you didn't test at 1ohm& catch your garage on fire!!!!!🔥🔥🔥keep'em coming( great Halloween amp to scare someone with the Trinity of distortion;-))
Please do a review and test of the Rockville Krypton series amps please! I bought the M3 1000W model and have had it for about 3 months and I love it. Excellent amp and features for the price.
Seeing those on eBay and such I figured about 50 watts per channel. I wasn't far off. That said, I also figured they wouldn't have that good a playback quality either. Guess I was pretty spot on there too. I'd look for anything else, even if it's used. Thankfully I have enough old school amps in my collection that I'd never buy one of these.
speaking of cheap amps, diamond audio now owns cerwin vega and i recently became the owner of a cerwin branded monoblock CVPM1000.1D, any thoughts on these palm sized rebranded amps? it seems to bump good enough for me... not many reviews found on it though.
This type of car amp can be found all over south east asia, can get them from 40-90$. I bought one 11 years ago for 45$ it had 2 25 amp fuses (also slightly had bigger guts than this one) and it said "3600 Watts" on top but actually it only puts out 600+ watts @ 4 Ohms fully bridged and I found that actually decent. but it gets hot, like real HOT, you can burn your hand on it, literally lmao, without any fans it would surely pop, rip efficiency. great video though!
So I remember back in the day I had some really sick Lanzar amps and I bought two Lanzar 12s that each came in a nice wooden box with a combination lock on them. I bought a Lanzar 1800 watt amp off of eBay (thanks Maxxsonics!) for $80 and I also bought two cheap 12s. I built a 3/4 MDF box for them, put them in my Civic, and they sounded like absolute shit. I bought a Soundstream Rubicon Nano RN1.5000D amp (because once again, always had good experience with Soundstream) and those two 12s sounded decent in the 32 Hz sealed box that I built. Finally I got tired of mediocre bass and I bought two Sundown Audio SA12-D2s, put them in the same box, and with the same amp and they pounded in my 97 Civic coupe. Now I have a 2004 Acura TL and I bought two more Sundown Audio SA12-D2s (for a total of four) in my trunk with two sealed boxes bolted together, and I bought an Orion HCCA SPLX 3k watt amp and they REALLY pound. Yeah, I'd love to get some of the higher line Sundown subs, but these have no problem flexing my roof and windshield, so they sound pretty good imo. I've never had them metered, but I think they'd do fairly well. The loudest single sub I've ever heard is a triple decker Memphis 12 on a 10k watt Memphis amp, but that was back in the mid 2000s. The best sounding system ever was four MTX 15s in the bed of a 95 S-10 with a cap and the rear window removed on a killer Rockford Fosgate amp. He won multiple awards with it and you had to have a pair of earcovers to sit in it.
@@NVzla Absolutely! I miss the days when there was crap amps and subs on the market, but you could only get them at a flea market. Nowadays you're being tricked into buying absolute crap from every angle!
I have 2 ways to judge cheap amps. Either, one quarter of the number on the amp (fairly consistent), or just multiply the fuse rating by 10. Neither of those matches this piece of junk. At least with something like Boss or Pyramid, they typically meet that previous expectation.
The alpine V12 Is Real those knock offs is sad big d my brothers and friends had the v12 alpine in the 90's they were true nice sounding power and can push a sub 👍
v12 mrv 705 that a class ab mosfet on the final has a distortion because the bias isn't great also it isn't worth it will fail eventually I have repaired many of that. but there is one more kind of amplifier mrv 805 a little bit more decent rating is 4x80 watts at dynamic 4x60 watts rms it was class ab but had transistor output. in the Philippines, it was the most popular amp for beginner
