My mom is a Mexican immigrant, she came here at age 18 for a better life and a better life for her future kids. She met my dad who promised to take care but instead he sold drugs, broke the law, and harm my mom. Well he went to prison then he was deported so it was just my mom and my brother now. If it wasn't for section 8, we would have lived in the street. If it wasn't for food stamps, we wouldn't have much to eat and one time I had sepsis and my free Medicare saves my life. Now my brother is finishing his college career, he's going to be a police officer soon and I'm studying to be a teacher.

Yes. We don't plan to have these things happen to us. I ended up homeless after fleeing abuse multiple times including when my kids were very young and the benefits saved us as well. I was treated poorly by case managers but we had a roof over our heads.

Man get this girl a J.O.B at this dang office! Not only as her voice like rain on a summer day she is knowledgeable about almost everything about these apartments and the income that is required and the steps to take, she is articulate and very well-mannered. I would love to do a walk-through with this woman she would make me feel so comfortable. She has a non-judgmental way about her.

Only thing I think is that having a 3rd child made more of a struggle. I don't want to judge her-she is pretty awesome. But, how would the other kids feel seeing her raise her youngest, but not them?

Looking around at my home I’m blessed! Sometimes I’m like man I’d like a bigger home, more storage space, a bigger backyard but I have it good! 3 bed, 2 bath, 2 car carport, backyard, open desert behind us, community pool, quiet area, 1270 square feet. 640 is our mortgage and we own our home. I will be more grateful!! We are blessed!!

Got to do your homework. Moved here 6 months ago Took us 4 months of staying in extended stay Went thru 15 thousand. Management companies turned us down private owners very picky or we others beat us to properties.Housing market is stuff.Good luck tho

Just because it didn’t happen to them , they can’t wrap their minds around it & sit back & judge. I used to live in Phoenix on 6th Ave and Roosevelt. It is an income based apartment complex with very nice layouts. I used to pay $700 a month for a 2bed 2 bath apartment and I heard they are still priced the same. The complex is called Roosevelt Commons. You should try and film there.

I appreciate your videos so much because in my opinion I like how you actually ask the people about why they don’t have their kids. You don’t blame them but you are holding them somewhat accountable for the reason they are in the predicament they put themselves in. No judgement for anyone, but there are certain characteristics of people who don’t have custody of their kids vs. those who don’t talk about the past- they move on and think of the future.

Low income people moving in complaining their king size beds wont fit.. wowsers. I feel like some people living in these situations dont aim for better and use the housing as a stepping stone as it should be used. These people choose to make a life long living arrangement. This sucks for people in need now but are put on those 4 year waiting lists

Lady, you are a strong woman, sounds similar to my story when my kids were small, two were practically raised in Mexico. Super, this neighborhood is NOT the worse block in Glendale. Noooo way!! Great video my dude! Been in AZ my whole life and actually lived in this area for a while; Didn't know they had income-based housing like this but it sounds like a GREAT assistance program. Not a great neighborhood but not a bad neighborhood either. Long waitlist but the complex looks well kept and the actual unit looks damn good for the asking price. Playground looks modern and the basketball hoops actually had nets on em which is SUPER surprising! Lastly the computer room / tech center has more than 2 computers for people to share. I mean the amenities alone seemed better than most mid-level apartments that are asking twice the cost! Damn good for public housing / low income housing, and great video with LOTS of useful info. Nice work bro 🙏😎

Nice tour looks like a decent place well kept, young lady very knowledgeable about the system. Sounds like she’s been through a lot but making her way….If everyone works together and follows the rules income based housing can work.

You never can get out of income based housing. It just keeps people dont and forces them not to try to make more money. If you make $12hr and work full time you make too much money for this place and would have to move. Thats why once you are here you are pretty much a lifer.

I used to live off of 48th and warner in Ahwatukee in a 2 bed /2 bath 1000 sq ft apt and was paying $630 month of course this was years ago but that was a real nice area of Phoenix...they use to call it the new Scottsdale
