OH MY!!! Be still my beating heart, Mrs. Beeman, you are a goddess! So, so lovely. I feel like the clock is ticking, I am so close to being in a position to acquire one of these Corvair beauties but alas not in time for this one. I'm sure she will find a new home quickly, especially at that price. Until then I will re-watch this many times over I'm sure.
Beautiful! Much like the maroon, 64 Monza coupe that I had in high school. I have never seen, or even heard about, that optional, oil bath air cleaner.
What a beauty, and this looks like a bargain! I used to not care for the style of the early year corvairs, but now I kind of prefer them. Personally, I think those hubcaps look great on this coupe.

I was sold till I heard it run. I'd be afraid to drive at any distance. A proper rebuilt corvair motor could equal the price of the car.. is the noise a lifter ? A rod? Bent pushrod ???? Fix it before you sell it.
I’ve been driving Corvairs for over 30 years. It’s very obviously a lifter noise. 99% of the time it lessens with regular use. With better paint and a quiet lifter, the asking would be much more. It’s all relative.

Before an oil service, I personally would drain about a quart from the sump and add a equal amount of marvel mystery oil. Chances are very good the lifter will 'unstick'. A very clean and tidy car. Bargain belle of the ball ha. Corvairs are fun and charming in a way Camaros and ‘55s can never be. I’d check that motor with a PPI if I were the buyer. Also - where’s the transmission selector I don’t see a column or floor shifter?
there are even ways to limit suspension travel, that is a half solution, but not letting off in a corner is the way to be safe in any swing axle car. Never unload the suspension in a corner.

lifter noise, could be wrong weight of oil. Or somebody ran the car with low oil and burned the lifters. Thats a bad noise, shouldnt happen at all .... Paint not matching selling price , but a nice car.
Incorrect weight oil will not cause lifter tick as long as the lifters are properly adjusted (very simple). If TOO thick, or heavy, it might require a bit of warm up time to adequately thin out (IF the lifters are out of adjustment - rare). This is a common 'vair issue that is benign 99.5% of the time. Have accumulated tens of thousands of 'vair miles. - What is a 'burned lifter'? - Tell you what happens here. Corvairs PCV system was implemented in 1963. The first design used a spring loaded check valve or AKA a PCV valve. The 1964 models replaced the PCV valve with a fixed orifice for vacuum balance truing. It's an imperfect system but met emissions requirements at the time. I would check for a clogged orifice AFTER the Marvel mystery oil treatment. Oil residue will gum up the fixed orifice and lead to various issues and indicators, mostly serious blue smoke as crancase ventilation is curtailed leading to all the crancase pressure to 'blow-by' the rings and easily leads one to believe the motor is shot in need of rebuild or oil spewing all over the motor with the blowby actually pushing the dipstick up. I bought my '64 monza for $500 in 1980 being sold because the owner said it needed rings and a rebuild. Found the above orifice issue and that car ran beautifully for well over 80k miles with minimal consumption.
They quieted down within a couple of days on their own as I suspected. Not my first rodeo with Corvairs. They ALWAYS quiet themselves down in time. They don't like sitting, these cars.
