$99 Chinese Cecilio Trumpet Review

Hi Taylor, the mute is a practise mute. I would recommend throwing your 7c mouthpiece in the bin and buying a Bach 1.5 (one and a half) 2 or 3c mouthpiece. If you are not going to be playing a lot you want a big mouthpiece and importantly it will improve your sound. Valves, I think the valves should be straight. If you want to see a trumpet with a proper off set valve google Olds recording. You would have been better off spending your money on a good second hand Olds, Bach, Getzen, Yamaha there are lots out there. Scales are important so are long notes it's a wind instrument. It's all about developing breath control.

The sicky valve is just from manufacturing residue and not just in the valve casiings but the entire horn. Give it frequent baths running warm soapy water through the horn. Get a casing brush from a music store and scrub the casings and wipe the valves down. Oil them and replace them and they should work freely. YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO THIS!! Do not drop the valves or bang them around. Doesn't look like a bad deal, just give it some TLC. One of my trumpets was $3000.00 and it took some real cleaning to get the valves at 100% Hope you have good luck with it.

I hear a lot of criticism of these cheap horns. Seems like they work fine, but I guess they don't last. But it looks like a pretty good deal for a working instrument. It would be nice to have heard a regular experienced trumpet player playing on it. Also would like to hear from anyone who has used one of these for 2 years or more.

I have the same trumpet and It plays very good. Not bad for $100.

I bought the medideni mtt b flat and I can say it's a great trumpet for the price I have years experience and even own a Zeno and strat but when I was a student I had to bust my hump to get a used model this gives beginning players a chance with out big investment.

Hey, Taylor! I enjoyed your review. Now, to specifics, if you you hold up your hand, fingers extended, palm outward or toward you, you will notice that your 1st and 3rd fingers are longer than your middle finger. Since the 2nd valve, the middle one, is farther out and therefore, out of alignment, maybe the Chinese were going for ergonomics. I don't know, but as long as the sound is good, and it doesn't sound bad, and it works as intended, you should be good to go! BTW I've played for over 40 years. Thanks for the video!

get a ptrumpet, a good Yamaha or Bach mpc, an Arban method book and a brass spa mute. (best mute EVER) you'll be golden.

I know a guy who plays on the street for a living. He lost his good trumpet so he got one for $100 at the swap meet, new. It's been months and he's getting a good tone, doesn't seem to have valve problems so yeah... those $100 trumpets have their place in the scheme of things.

Offset trumpet valves are usually on the high end custom trumpets. 😁

I recommend wearing those gloves to preserve the finish because it probably won’t last

I'd clean everything real good be fore using it. The Chinese are famous for using lead in their products. Other than that the case looks real good. I bet if you take it to a repair shop, they could de-burr your valve casings and that might fix your sticky valve. Can't beat that price for a practice Trumpet.

Not bad for $100

Look at your hand. The finger you use on second valve is a bit longer than the other fingers. Some expensive trumpets offset that middle valve a bit even more.

Not a bad sound. Probably because you have a well trained ear playing violin. Try rounding off the notes and keep the air flowing.

You need to do a deep clean and use like 5 drops of oil if it still sticks do like 3 more drops

Did you clean the valves off before you oiled them? They could have oil on them from years ago, or just cheap oil.

Maybe I'm not an expert, but for me it seems more you can't play that the trumpet is bad.

the vales are suppose to be not even! no one is farther to the where it is any other two fingers are a little bit lower than that one so then your fingers can easily play and so you don't have to be occasionally putting your middle finger closest to your other fingers so they're even so yeah they're supposed to be off center.

This is worse than a toy. The sticky valve is EVERYTHING. You're better off renting from your local music store (which is also a rip-off). If you want a trumpet, find something used for $150-300. Cecilio will be in the trash in a few weeks and you'll end up spending the money again. A used good brand can be re-sold. This trumpet CANNOT be resold. Won't last and your student's ability to play will reduced to someone with 3 months of experience. Don't take the cheap price bait.

I guess it's worth it instead of spending 1k$ on a new silver yamaha.

Lost all credibility as soon as you just played 2 scales and messed up B-flat... surprised no one worth their salt has done a review on one of these pieces of junk.

Absolutely terrible trumpets. Not playable. These are stencil, factory cheapos. Retails for about $35 in China.

Excellent informative review. I thank you for showing what a piece of junk that trumpet is. It is amazing that the Chinese can sell such a thing for $99. But then again, it is very turd-like.
