Another beauty, what I like about sailing yachts are the interiors they are just stunning, I think the lighter wood on this one really makes the interior look light and airy. Great tour Nick thankyou.
A lovely yacht but here's a suggestion, how about a sea trial in a sailing yacht? I'd love to see how these electronic winches for the sails work, how easy it is to deploy them and put them away. I've always that off motor boats as the option but with the price of fuel, sail power looks increasingly attractive. Just a thought. Anyway, a great video as usual. Thanks!
I’m so pleased that this yacht has had such a great reception. I joined the electrical team just as 495-01 Carpe Diem was about to leave the build process & enter the testing & commissioning stage. Build 495-02 was also in an advanced stage of electrical installation & I had little influence upon its completion. Wait to you get to see 495-03. I’m proud of some of, not just my work but also my colleagues, most of whom will be invited to work again alongside some of our industry’s finest craftsmen & women on 495-06, my next challenge at Oyster Yachts.
What a fabulous boat. The more videos I see of Oyster yachts, the more I realise I need to learn to sail! As ever, a great tour and 'Thank you' for bringing it to us Nick 👍⛵️
this is gorgeous! was never a fan of sailboats but the more I see of them the more I like them. thanks for showing us this nick, hope your weekend is grand, cheers!
Nice yacht, I like it kept in nice bright colors. I don't drink alcohol, but I can drink a bottle of freshly washed champagne. The owner's cabin is large and beautiful, and there is no shortage of cushions, I must say. You can't show such beautiful sailboats, I want to go on an adventure every time. great video Nick.
The character of these sailing yachts is so different compared with the motor yachts, but both brilliant. This may be a 'stupid question', but are vessels with carbon fibre masts or indeed carbon fibre superstructures as with some of the flybridge boats, more susceptible to lightning strikes?
Beautiful boat!! If I wasn't so lazy I would prefer this over a powered boat. Curious there isn't one solar panel on this boat. You would think they would find space for one or two just to top up the batteries. I wonder when the technology will allow solar panels into the sails themselves. Lots of light bouncing off those waves....Greetings from Texas...John B
I'm almost certain it has a hydraulic generator, and as long as you're sailing at more than about 5 kts (which this boat will do easily), that should have no trouble keeping the batteries topped off.
Curious question from a non-sailer 🙋♂️On a blue water crossing -or full time - does one want to constantly be out in open cockpit while underway? I can see this during a weekend trip, but during night watches and/or in foul weather, or extended crossings, I would think it would become tiresome if not an unhealthy amount of sun (over) exposure. 🤷♂️🤷♂️ I would want more substantial coverage long term. Not doubt, however, it’s still a beautiful yacht! Bravo 👏
Absolutely beautiful boat right up there with HR, Amel, Contest and Hylas however not keen on those hull windows in owners cab in and can't believe they've gone to saildrive
That is indeed an extremely well designed and executed boat. You can see the many years of evolution in so many of the details. Thank you so much for another great tour!
Hey Nick your page is fantastic, I love the way you work the camera, you don't get dizzy spinning g around anyway to my point or question, where does one put the tender? Thank you so much
Hey Nick I got a hold of an oyster rep and he said on the fore dack, on the davits you can have installed on the laserette. BTW they are very nice to talk to.
I wandered around the outside of the Sydney Boat Show at Darling Harbour today. Here are a handful of shots: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1krp72Dj9M7PliNldaQqgmolm-ivuqNwP?usp=sharing
First time I watched a sailing video from you. Really enjoyed it. It was funny to hear the (loud) power boats go by when you were on deck. Certainly made a case for the sailing life.
In my opinion, you get here "more boat" than on any motor yachts for that money. And, 8 to 9 knots it's a fine cruising speed. Thanks for your effort to make this video!
This is my absolute favourite monohull. If I was ready to do some serious world cruising I'd be looking to buy this asap - I might configure it slightly different to suit a couple living aboard, and I'd have to convince my spouse we won't be heeled over badly all the time, but it would be hard to not want to push this one to the limits.
Even with the complexity of the sailing rig… I find I prefer a lot of these style boats as a cruiser. I don’t think I spotted anywhere where money had been saved or corners cut. This would be high on my list for ways to spend £1.25 million 🙂🇬🇧
You are spoiling us, another awesome yacht, I love these deck saloons and oysters are the top of the tree. They really have thought of everything haven’t they. I could tell you were impressed by this one as well.
Hi there..just a big fan...wondering if you can help..i live in Christchurch Dorset and am looking for a small bowrider speed boat 6_10k.were would be the best place to look..thanks ian
I have been looking at this one for a while - love it. Just wondering why does Oyster not seem to make space on their yachts for the dinghy? I would hate to be towing mine behind as we sail, so does it have to be winched by the mast and stored up front?
What a great thing to come back to watch after a week of holiday! Great boat Nick I love the new Oyster yachts I hadn’t heard of them before your first tour showcasing them so thanks for that! Brilliant tour as always Nick!
I really like this layout, very clean, efficient and bright. Love the electronic and mechanical switches etc. I have seen a lot of yachts and this one somehow manages to stand out. I am a fan.
How sail yachts have evolved, no more dark wood and small windows, basic facilities. This yacht is a stunner. Nicks tour always shows you everything and great detailed comments. Lovely boat and so well laid out and equipped.
Hehe, love the 'champagne' dishwasher 😅. They've got their priorities in oder ! I didn't realise Oyster were British. Great to see we're building premium sailing yachts too ... 🇬🇧
Love the colour combo's really relaxing. To be able to more up near a cliff somewhere, no-one around, just yourselves and the stars.. What's the fuel/water/food storage capacity. How long could you stay away from shore?
Hi Nick, And thank you for this beautiful Oyster 495 what a sail boat it is the nice flush windows in the deck all the light what comes in through all those windows big galley and ooh lala a beautiful master bedroom with those big windows on the side. Nick what do you have with a hanging closet you give me the idear that a boat is not complet when there is'nt one but a great show Nick⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love Oyster yachts...imagine waking up in the morning in that owner's suite and see the crystal clear water of Formentera through those windows... one of my dreams
It’s okay. No dingy location? Cockpit covering is limited and no place for solar panels. Interior coloring are light and inviting. Thanks for the share Nick.
How long does it take to build one of these Oyster sailing yachts Nick? for the price of £1.2 Million I would guess around 6 months or maybe longer due to very long lead times with the parts supply issues for factories around the world including boat factories?
Very nice boat. Not to much, nor to little, luxury-stuff. Seems to be made for sailing, not for showing off. I hope you will get an opportunity to look at a boat from X-yachts. I would love to hear your thoughts on those.
So much of pretty! Fabulous design and attention to detail, the new ownership of Oyster is driving the restablishment of the brand to its glory days and beyond. However it looks like it will still be a marina slave with all of those high end electronic systems IMHO. Anyway, well done Nick, your effortless and articulate overviews keep us Oyster wannabee plebs entertained.
hi Nick, for the money a lot of sailboat! I have to admit that interior is to my taste too. Just I don't get sailboats, its too complex for my mind 😰 to take in. Cheers DougT
Nice boat I was talking to my dad about boats last night being a timber made pointed out that teak is illegal import as it is on endangered list of hardwoods so my question on theses boars do the use teak or something else.
Great video Nick, I always like to see a washer/dryer on a boat but one thing I have heard and I don't know if it's true is that you can't use the machines if the boat is under sail. Is this true?
If I was into sailing yachts then this is a beaut. Lovely well thought out interior I really like the colour choice, also a light mint green hull would make it stand out. Hope you bought the Oyster team beer for kicking them off Nick😁
