Very creative.. I dont think that your even fully aware, of how helpful these videos are, for people who are struggling and just don't have the know how, and you make it so uncomplicated. A bed in heaven reserved.
You've encouraged me to batch cook and meal plan. I used to do this, but stopped and now I have higher food bills and waste. I could start saving quit a bit of money. Good to watch for ideas.
Hello Rechenda. I've been following and enjoying your channel for a few weeks. A quick tip regarding the spring/green onion growing in your garden; if you had just chopped it off about an inch above the ground it would have regrown for another harvest a few weeks later.
i just cut off most of the green to use and keep the entire base of the onions in a glass of cool water and set it in a window and the green will keep growing...just change the water every 2 days.
Hmm, some of these comments are unnecessarily rude. I wonder if the people who leave them are that rude in real life or whether it’s a bit like road rage and people just think they can say what they want/how they want because it’s social media. I can see you read and reply to the comments so I hope you let them just wash over you….
You are literally the female version of me, lol. i love the challenge of budget cooking and am thinking of doing my own foody channel. I forage for seasonal ingredients, ive started growing my own. i also sell unwanted stuff on market place. i lost my dad recently and live on my own. Budgeting allowed me to buy my own place and pay it off, i now work part time and budgeting allows me to still enjoy a social life. I tend to lean more towards fast cook meals rather than batch cooking. My freezer is filled with veg meat breads etc. I prefer the flexibility and choice.
Rechenda, you are the best! I was laughing out loud when you casually mentioned about the cat hair and then you said something about you might burn the kitchen down. Hysterical! You really get things done - the risotto looked wonderful! I love shopping at Aldi here in New York. Such good bargains. Thank you again for a great video!
Thank you Rechenda (And our Jack)that was great you did a fantastic job for your £10 budget very creative I don't think super glue would not be any good in the oven go to a charity shop you will pick up a flan dish or tin for a couple of quid or a boot sale love your channel have a great safe and happy week .xx
Risotto does not need any creamy stuff in it - maybe just a knob of butter thrown in before plating it, but if it tastes good how you made it, then it’s a win! You are very creative 😊
Love what you are trying to achieve x for your quiche bases you can either prick them with a fork or add dried peas to blind bake it. This means it will stop puffing up in the middle x
Started watching your channel and have shared it with my son who has just been housed in a flat and is trying to get everything for it and get a car on the road. So your ideas will be wonderful ❤
Impressed as always - great going 15 meals! I also have stopped buying magazines so treat myself to a free one from the health food shop or a local free one i pick up at the railway station.
absolutely loved this whole video, im only a kid still but i find this entertaining haha. your personality is amazing! subscribed and now going to start watching more of your videos
I have to start buying extra canned food to build up my pantry for the winter.I find groceries are more expensive in the winter months.I have done some dehydrating of vegetables also for the winter.
Been shopping @Aldi and Lidl for best part of 25 years, if you're lucky enough to live where the two are within walking distance of each other (like Droitwich) that's the very best situation as each have pluses and minuses.Aldi do grated mozzarella in large bags (sold in same box as grated cheddar,so sort through) this ,long run,is cheaper.I don't eat meat ,but my kids do and prefer Lidls. Even if you only have a window box, stuff like Basil/Parsley/is very easy to grow from seed, costs pennies. I like your channel. Best Wishes.
I love Aldi and would love to see Lidl in Australia 🇦🇺, yes it would give our two dominant supermarkets a good kick in the cash register.😊 I do watch my food prices and plan the menu,. Great video and look forward to future posts 👍✔️🇦🇺
So they not do the bacon off cuts in Aldi across the pond? Fantastic value and you can get some really good cuts in there, sometimes even gammon steaks
I've personally used aldi & lidl for years, I think it's super value especially for meat. When I first went years ago some people turned their noses up, but 15 years on they all go there too lol
Well done for supplementing what you already had with a tenners worth of stuff. Really stretched it a long way. What do you reckon Aldi or Lidl for best value?
Because i’m the dullest person that ever lived, i just ran that receipt through the tesco app to compare prices. Apart from the milk, every single thing was within a penny or two at tesco, the bacon was cheaper at 1.45. There definitely are some things that i make a special trip to Aldi for (crispy fries. £1- something, over £4 at full price in tesco!) but for routine stuff I don’t think it’s worth going out of your way for. Your meal planning is absolutely next level 🎉
Very entertaining and educational videos, Rechenda (nice name-I’ve never come across it before). You’ve got a lovely voice too! Keep up the excellent work 🤩👊
Only found your channel a few days ago and love the videos. Love the batch cooking - as a single person I am always too exhausted to cook when I get home from work. Quick question, how do you reheat these ... can you reheat pasta and risotto?
Hi I like watching you on RU-vid. How about the energy cost ? Sometimes it is cheaper to buy ready made quish which is not very expensive in Lidle. Am I wrong?
You have helped me view shopping and budgeting differently... Although I can't do the same as I have a 9 year old boy, you've shown me how I can save better on my own food... Previous videos you have made, also shown me I can also stay relatively low carb on a budget too... I'm really enjoying your stuff... You're great 🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧
I wasn’t feeling great tonight and while looking for something to watch I found you ,your video was brilliant I enjoyed watching and really like your style I felt better in no time at all ,you did so well with what you had and I thought your strawberry dessert looked wonderful I hope to see more of your videos
wow just subbed to this channel. How very inspiring. Theres no set rules for making food dishes just go for it as you do so well. You have inspired me to experiment with strange and wonderful ingredients. Love your little fruit pie, how cute is that.
Is the risotto with basmati rice it doesnt look like arborio or carnoli? So more of a pilaf. It looks lovely. The creaminess of risotto comes from the arborio and the slow stirring in of hot stock plus butter and parmesan but if you don't have it you can use cream cheese 😊
Your channel came up in my feed as I had been watching similar videos, so this is the first one I've watched. Good to see a local youtuber, very surprised actually!! I don't use that particular Aldi but it's not far away. After watching other youtuber food challenges I do think yours aren't as accurate as in this one, you aren't exclusively using just the items bought within the amount (cheese, strawberries, chicken etc are all extras)...but it was good to see what you made. And on the Aldi Vs Lidl - locally I stopped using Lidl as the fruit was either very soft and near or past best when I bought it, or didn't last long at all...that was several years ago though so may have changed.
you could of saved extra as the mushrooms you picked up had a pack at the back with 50% off so you could of saved more still ; they are great for reduced items
re the broken bowl - I agree with the other comment that super glue might not be safe for oven or for food; but as another solution - I generally just keep the foil tins from the store baked pies from Morrisons and reuse them, and they are fine. I think pies I made in the tin foil tend to have crispier skin too as the metal spreads heat faster than the ceramic (plus they come in different sizes, like pork pie size, quiche size etc so I've got options xD)
With the bits you added, it's more than £9+, but still cheap! I'm not sure about some of the " recipies", but the fact you used up things from your fridge, and adapted to what you had, make this a good informative video.
It's the same here in Spain. When I watch these videos I can never believe how cheap the UK is. The bacon and eggs alone would have blown most of the budget for me.
That's poor quality pasta though. For a general metric to check quality of pasta look at the protein content. Generally very good pastas have a protein content of 12-14 grams per hundred:. De Cecco is 14g, Barilla is 13g, Rummo is 14.5g - the Aldi essentials one is 5g, one of the lowest I've ever seen.
The pasta is poor quality. A good metric to check quality is to look at the protein content of pasta. De Gecco is 14g per 100g, rummo is 14.5g, barilla is 13g - the Aldi one by contrast is 5g! One of the lowest I have ever seen. Btw Tesco also do a very cheap pasta now probably to compete with Aldi they have a hearty food co range and the spaghetti is the same price, 28p, but also has only 5.5g of protein.
Groceries seem so cheap compared to here in Rhode Island. I had to do a stock up haul for the house today and it was $260 at my local Aldi. It should get us through a month.
Hello from Norway. Sorry for watching this 2 weeks to late but Girl you got some awesome bargains there 😊🎉 28p for spaghetti is absolutely amazing price. Ps love your videos 😊 Never been to Aldi, but do you ever go to ASDA?
You’re so funny & entertaining to watch, new subscriber here! I watched your get ready with me video, we go to Sheringham every August, heading there next Friday, love it xx
I shop at Aldi in USA. Never seen used, second hand books for sale at my Aldi but it's a great idea! Also, we don't use the metric system here so didn't understand all the measurements you mentioned. For example our milk is sold in quart, half gallon or gallon containers. I always buy half gallon containers in 1 % as opposed to 2% or whole milk or non-fat types.
I wouldn't risk superglueing something that touches your food, especially if it gets heated. The fumes or substances that might get transferred to your food ...
Do not waste lilly obriens choclates for the pud. They r delish and quite a luxurious treat i would put them in the same category as lindt my dad use to buy me a smaller box when he went on his travels and i was left with mum . Px
@@TheBudgetFoodie they are yummy arent they love how you had the milk as the healthy component to trick the old brain into thinking you were being on top of your healthy eating game lol px
Nooooo!!!!! You dont put cream in the risotto! Ever… What you need extra is only the wine! Btw you are good in budgeting… i do the same thing when Im alone 😊
