I had a reflex silver 1.8T 25th Anniversary in my stable for a few years, it was quite well sorted, I'll never forget the day I sold it, I really wish I kept it. Replaced it with an Edition 30 which I still have, but I wish I kept the 25th in the garage, it was a bloody incredible car and impeccably clean.
I love the mk4 golf, I have owned my V6 4motion, had it for 14 years, well maintained and drives like the day it was made and looks mint, being 34 now, I pay £17 a month to insure for me and the wife. Not that she ever drives.
Same. Found a black on black leather 24v VR6 with 130k miles for $7500 last year and I’ve already been offered $10k for it. Nice unmolested MK4’s are incredibly rare in the US.
Good engines they are. Sadly these emission charges are going to put them out. The ULEZ charge rubbish they want to expand to the whole of London in 2021 has led my dad to sadly sell his bora with the PD130 as he'll have to pay £12.50 a day to drive the car if the charge gets expanded
Back in the day my dad bought a 1.4 mk4 golf on finance. Completely modded it and put the 225 BAM engine in it. Didn't want a loud exhaust so it just wofted out silently. Still don't know how he made it so quiet
Great cars and engine for the money. I have a 116,000 standard 1.8t Bora sport for a daily. Same spec from factory as the anniversary mk4 180bhp 6speed. Cost me £600 for the car £300 for the anni wheels. Best money I’ve spent on a car and pulls like a train
These were brand new when I was in HS. There were def a few of them in HS. All bought brand new. One had a blue R32 so jealous. I believe he still has it as a weekend car super cool. The other kids had 1.8T and VR6. The vr6 sounds so good with an exhaust.
Now this is what I’m talking about. My favourite golf to be honest. I like what’s been done to this one a spec I would be keen on honestly but in black. All black everything.
I owned one for 10 years R32 body kit miltek and a remap 18”s Aum 210ish bhp I paid 9 grand plus genuine bumpers were about a grand I loved it hence kept for so long. I’m unsure about the amount of additional ads on your channel now Tbh very off putting but you got to pay for that rs3 right 😂
Good vid Jamie! I had an AGU engine'd one. Was on 20k when I bought it in 2002, but written off at 106k by a bint in a mini rear ending it. I loved it - the Recaro's & interior were a class above anything for the money. At the end, it had a K04 turbo set up & quaiffe diff - drove very well. Still miss that car now even with an Edition 30 as the replacement.
Insurance is not cheap and as they are a thorn in vw 's foot as mk 4 was never ment to be a future classic . But they are sooner than later . Especially the mk 4 tdi range as we know and the vw scam . The fuckers. So the time to buy is now .and I was in my 30 's as new driver .
The best thing you can do is put you voluntary excess up as his as you can . And that will bring your premium down a bit . Just don't even scratch or anything as when I started mine excess I put to 3000 and my premium for first year on mk 4 bora tdi st was 2500 .
@@calamityyy I know right. I remember being so chuffed with that car when I bought it 11 years ago. Mine had a Miltek exhaust with a V6 4motion valance to make it look totally OEM. I remapped it to 190bhp. wasn't the fastest thing in the world but it did sound imense.
Yes about time . Mk 4 time . You will have to go in my bora tdi st Jamie I keep going on I know but this is a perfect sleeper . I have had fitted hybrid pd 150 turbo and a darkside development side mounted intercooler kit and a pipercross panel filter . I do need to remap again and put on rolling road again as I have had new parts since then . . As she is a lot faster since I have had new mods . I have them side skirts on mine . Valance rear splitter colour coded yep I got it . And the same colour reflex silver . Standard exhaust . But got a miltek on the way I have r32 steering wheel . H and R 35 mm cup kit . Poly bushes all round .
Always love these budget car reviews. However i'm financing a 1.8 polo gti f rom 2015-16 on hp and the insurance quotes were only around a grand for first car
I always thought that VW forgot to design the mk4 golf. it was better looking than the mk4 Astra and mk1 focus. 🥴🤮 I love the design of 80s, early 90s hot hatches also really like modern ones. This era of car (95-05) is so dreary. The 306 was a nice looking car, they always got the facelifts right with them too, so it aged pretty well over the years
Hi there I know its not the place to say but I have a mk1 Audi A3 03 plate 1.8t 5 door which is the same platform as a mk4 golf and it has 61k on the clock any more if I wanted let me know ;)
@@79RockShox yea your used to it i think. Me too ive had a 2.0 tdi at start i felt it had to much power but after i got bored. But got it tunned and hybrid turbo. Trust me it pulllled like a train
@@Mrak47777 :-P I paid £250 for my PD130 with 175k on clock with suspected blowing head.. I think the turbo let go with the odd overheat at about 208k, now got a vrs block with same miles lol, turbo a bit ropey butmeh... 214k miles here we are (mapped of course).
Don't mention projects. Were still waiting for a new shell for the fiesta. Jamie's sausage fingers won't fit in a mid engine bay, not that he would be doing anything.
£320 a year to tax a 1.8t now and 20ish mpg ....was great fun but the government greed machine has ruined the party. 07 plate sti or Evo 8 = £570 a year!!! Killed a dream owning an Evo 8. Never will I pay that much. 1.9tdi ARL pd150 is now £170 a year 50mpg mapped is 190hp and lots of torque. Pd130 is a good buy too but not as good. Much better option for the first time buyer.
Oh man wrong engine code, its a git boot spoiler. And it has us spec tail lights. Those seats are £££ , that's a cheap car. Sad worth more in parts. Until there's none left then there worth money.
