Tbh I've always found cars like the Porsche GT3 etc kind of boring to watch. Like we all know the car is awesome to drive and everything works etc. These types of cars are more interesting to watch since you don't know what to expect
Same. One of the reasons I don't watch the grand tour is because they aren't doing the same challenges. Everything feels scripted and fake, and when somebody mentioned it they made a whole episode making fun of the person who mentioned it.
@@itsbrun5759 O meu irmão tinha um a GPL todo partido e vendeu por uns 1000 e qualquer coisa... É chato ver o quão caros os carros são cá comparado a outros países

@Advocatus Diaboli could just be a wheel speed sensor, worst case abs module, pull it off a junker, fuel could be something as simple as bad spark plugs not burning all the fuel or it running rich from a old clogged air filter, both really simple fixed most likely, all I know is over here in Idaho, that's a 2500$ car in the condition it's in, 3000-3500 with no lights (required for emissions testing)
Yeah, no way would you get a used car here in Australia for 250 pounds. Only thing you might get is a civic with a blown headgasket and trashed body. You need to spend at least 1k aud to get something that runs and drives.
And gets to somewhere in the north of France like... Mont St Michel without breaking down. Or the cheaper closer UK Michaels mount or go for it and the scottish highlands. Assuming you can afford recovery for 3 shitboxes.
I once bought a car for £1 when I worked for webuyanycarS.com (a rip off webuyanycar.com) and a lady in central London called us with a Ford ka and I offered the £1 as the fees for us to collect it were higher than it's value so as a gesture the £1 was offered. The car was mint, 1 owner low mileage and when the driver arrived with the car a trader was waiting with £750 who went on to sell it for £1200ish. It's a rarity but as a motor trader it's a story I love to tell. 🤘
@@thatguyoverthere531 Essex has had a bad reputation since before the Towie crowd were even born. I suspect Essex was the target of secret government experiments on the humans, with the aim of recreating the missing link between humans and apes. But they went to far, and now even the apes are embarrassed to be associated with Essex! 😉
I think that site might be a bit wrong, as there's a UK owner's club for Ladas and they have quite decent sized meetups - a friend of mine (who is, admittedly, quite, quite mad) has two Rivas and a Niva, all currently road legal, so I know there are definitely a few left.

@@MrRohanThomas that was almost 12 months ago though, I wonder how big these problems or any others are now? They all seem very minor. Well worth doing up imo
@@joannaatkins822 True, but if the speedo has gone since then, it does make you wonder what else could've packed in on what is admittedly a 20 year old car.
Man I bought a k11 Micra for £200 and I'd happily drive that to Scotland from the south coast of England and back (if you pay for petrol and accomodation ;) ) If you know what you're looking for and don't care about aesthetics (helps if you don't mind working on it yourself too) then you can grab a reliable car for a good price.
i love these cheap car challenges.....theres so so many people who love cars yet havent big budgets, or have a small budget for a second car for a home....not enough car channels cater to something relatable to a lot of us like this
They want rich celebrities to host and for me they are not that interesting or funny. Remember how terrible the other versions of top gear are like in America, Australia. That is exactly what has happened to the English one. They should completely change the style, make it real not staged, keep it cheap to produce.
Watching from Spain, been here 15 years, subbed for a long time. The ONLY thing I miss about UK is when I see car vids this good, everything so easy and cool, the way it should be. I must have watched this video ten times already and it is yet to get old. Great vid, made me smile a lot, definitely more please.
You should do a series on the Volvo👌🏼 reliability, how many miles from a tank, how many on fuel light, how much stuff you can get in the back etc and what it takes to kill a Volvo😂
Bought Yaris for £200, drove it for 3 years and 65.000 miles, then sold it for scrap for £70. Only thing that ever needed actual replacement was exhaust (rotted to bits) and needed to get tyres for MOT. Just regular oil changes every 10.000 miles, and couple of lightbulbs. Absolute best value for money ever.
that's the whole point of this challenge... even the cheapest cars in the UK (Tata) are ~£6000 for a new car... most small cars start around £10k before insurance, tax or any options (e.g. Aygo / VW Up!).... normally an annual service / road tax will cost you £250... the only cars you get at £250 will normally not be roadworthy within a year, unless you spend a LOT of time/money.... probably both! Which makes it fun...
I bought a 1997 V40 for 300 Euro 2 years ago. It still works absolutely fine, use it every day, including to carry stuff like furniture. They really are great cars. It's been dead reliable for me also.
It doesn't work though. Most people who would buy a £250 car don't have motor traders insurance. Plus as road Tax now cannot be transferred to a new owner he would have had to pay road tax to legally be able to drive it on the road.. To buy a car, insure it, tax it, fuel it for £250 is impossible.. This video is far from realistic
Not seen Top Gear since Clarkson & Co left apart from the first episode of the new series with Flintoff, Matt LeBlanc & Co. This is heaps better than that and I'm not surprised you have 3+ million subs and good views. Like it how you purchase cars that anyone can afford, it really shows what bargains you can get for a little run about, or not. Good name as well. Sub'd.
OK, here's a challenge. From where you live (any of the three of you's house), buy an open top car and all 3 travel together in it and complete the Conde Nast 500 by 08:00hrs 3 days later (72 hours). Budget £1200 to include all meals, accomodation (no sleeping in car and must be booked after you start), all food and petrol. But when on the 500, it MUST be daylight.
