@@RAGNAAAA it's still better than watching mind numbing stuff on normal TV where for every 10 minutes of the program you have to sit through 5 minutes of ads. I'll sit through 20 seconds of adverts and sponsored content any day to watch stuff I actually enjoy.
Agreed, the old R8 is still a fantastic looking car, however, I think the E46 M3 is one of the best looking modern era "normal" cars ever (I say "normal" as apposed to dedicated supercar platform like the R8)
More Alex and Taylor would be great. Such an epic duo. What happened to that car you were supposed to paint...? Vid stopped at primer and thats just wrong.
What do you mean!!! Very realistic gearhead behavior to shelve a paint project at the primer stage. everything is rustproof and, ehh, I'm bored of this project lol.
@@flamurshala956 to be fair, he stated before that he would trade everything for a M3 Touring and cracked sub frame mounts are a definite and costly failure for the e46. Given the last scene it wasn't that hard to put the pieces together😃
Alex, not sure if you'll see this message but I'd love to say how much I enjoy and look forward to any new videos from you. You're a true car enthusiast like myself and that really comes across in your videos. They are genuine and fun, and I love to see that you can do that with great support from people such as Taylor. I also appreciate that you want to have a bit of fun and thrash your cars but you always do so sensibly and on the track. I find it so hard to find good car RU-vid channels where someone isn't driving 100+ mph in a 1000bhp car on public roads. So thank you Alex, I will keep watching as you make more financial mistakes so we don't have to 🙂
nahh the og rs5 is one the most beautiful cars ever made and that v8 is glorious. a well built b5 s4 is a thing of dreams rs2 rs4 and rs6 avant theres so many amazing audis.
Watch how the examiner at the end of the test says, "I'm sorry, you've failed by 1 minor mark... APRIL FOOLS! YOU GOT 3 MAJORS YOU DUMB TWAT, FACK OFF!"
I had an e46M3 for 8 years that I just sold for an R8. I miss the M3; it was perfect for the street and a great drivers car. In some ways it is more enjoyable than the R (cost/maintenance); the M also has developed an old car vintage vibe to it. On the other side, the R has the gated shifter, view of the engine bay, and handling which are next level. I don't enjoy the attention it gets but understand. The R is more stunning in person than on video; it is fun to watch the kids (and some adults) jump up and down when they see it. The M is a current classic, and the R is set to be a future classic.
I’ve had a silver grey manual e46 m3 for 7 yrs now, new front wings and all the maintenance needed to keep the car running over the years, I tend to do 2k a year in it now but the rear arches have started blistering slightly with rust over the past year, but again it’s the nature of the beast with old cars but I absolutely adore the car the look the drive the sound, she’s not the quickest by todays standards but always holds its own and never embarrassed, I am so so attached not sure I could ever sell it.
i love this because we used to watch Top Gear drive 1980’s and 1970’s Lamborghini and Maserati super cars around the UK; but nowadays we watch auto alex’s rusty BMWs fight old Audi R8’s on track.
M3 E46 is mostly about fun, it is really easy to see how much fun does he has while driving. As the owner I can also say there is not a lot of cars what can bring so much fun.
Relatively wet track and the Xdrive helps a lot at the start relative to RWD. Yes all in all, they could take an SUV from Audi then it would be 2 seconds slower than the X3 and everything would match 😆
Its easier to get a 330i touring and "drill" the 3.0l to a 3.2l...or just chip tune the 3.0l and give it some basic upgrades (cooling, intake/exhaust manifolds, cold air intake..)
@@MisoElEven you still need The wider fenders and all other m specific parts so its easiest is to buy a m3 with boken subframe mounts in rough condition and Put all The goodies onto and into a clean touring
Hey since Alex has a way better/more entertaining channel may I remind everybody to HIT THAT BELL ICON to get the notifications. This man deserve all the money and subscribers in my opinion!
Car Vertical is great. However. What it doesn't show is when cars take a slap and they are slung into a budget body shop and repaired badly and in some cases unsafely with no photos taken and logged. So it's always good to actually check the vehicle over or have it professionally inspected.
The R8 is a stunning machine. I did think the M3 (wheels and arches need attention) may beat it, not because of the stats but because they were putting up a tired car against a supercar which had been serviced, new tyres etc. In event that clearly wasn't the case, although the R8 failure at the end was concerning. The M3 was sought after in its day, yet time moving on, we now have an SUV which comes very close on performance. An interesting and enjoyable film. Thanks for hosting.
the onboard sound of that m3 is just incredible, if I was to have an audi r8 it would be exactly like the example in the video but rwd and probably with a better exhaust
you don't find a bmw e46 m3 with less than 20.000 euros here in spain, the average salary is about 25.000 euros, it's crazy how cheap cars are in the UK
The original R8 still looks good today. As a BMW fan, the E46 M3 wins for me, you know the R8 will be faster but the M3 had charm and did well regardless. Good video.
The E46 M3 are around 10k in the UK?? Believe me, it is the paradise because in France they are at 30k in average. A shame that we have the Brexit because for 20k difference, I would drive red.
The BMW e46M is from the period of the ultimate driving machine era when the engine was powered by M meaning motorsports, today’s BMW M stand for marketing. The e46M is the last straight six M powered naturally aspirated engine, that engine will be celebrated many years into the future. The last iconic BMW straight six!
It's an automatic 4wd car. But don't forget the steering is the atrocious bmw electric steering, which is a decade behind porsche's while the E46 has the hydraulic rack. You just can't compare the two driving experiences.
Relatively wet track and the Xdrive helps a lot at the start relative to RWD. Yes all in all, they could take an SUV from Audi then it would be 2 seconds slower than the X3 and everything would match XD
Yes but you also have higher standard of living. In Croatia it also costs 45K EUR because of environmental tax but the average monthly salary is 800EUR :/
or you can get a used Alpine A110, a used Alfa 4C, a used Nissan GTR, a used Lotus Elise from the Toyota engine era, a used BMW i8, a used chiptuned BMW 440i...
Since I found out about first generation of R8, I instantly fell in love with it, even to this day. It beats new R8 in everything except speed lmao, it could use like 150 hp more, first generation R8, that is.
When the R8 gets "shit enough" to buy, it will still be too expensive to fix whatever goes wrong. I still want one, though. Sadly the cheapest one in Australia is still $100,000.
Given the choice between an Audi R8, and an E46 M3. As much as love them both, I bought a 1993 Lincoln Town Car. Never been happier with a car purchase!
Top tier content, surprised how fast the tarted up TT is tbf, but you just cannot beat the noise of the Beemers, even the diesel X3 sounded nice and I don't like BMWs 😅
Be good to see this R8 against a stock or stage 1 manual golf R at this track. Everyone says these V8 R8s are slow and a hot hatch nowadays is quicker but would a nice video to see the comparison I think. Personally Golf R may be quicker in a straight line on insta for clout but the R8 looks timeless and sounds like nothing else today 👌
Mx5 = Apprentice Hair Dresser, Audi tt = The Main Hair Dresser, Audi R8, = The owner of the Hair Dressers shop lol, but id own all 3, i must be a Hair Dresser lol
Good video. I wonder what tyres the M3 is on? And how much power do they actually have on a dyno and the exact weighed mass? The track does look a bit moist. 😂
Unless you know you can fix them yourself, don't even think about buying an old sports car like this. The money you "save" by getting an old one will soon turn into a loss when the engine management light comes on, the car goes into limp mode and you find out it needs 10 grand spending on it. Buy with dealer warranty or don't buy at all.
