I just bought mine for $300 with the updated lever snap for the armrest instead of the older version which you have that uses the scrolling wheels and the backward tilt lever snap. Hidden Easter Egg: if you put your finger into the groove of the chair where the headrest is, there are two dots. (1 dots is for size A, 2 dots size B, 3 dots size C and it always tells if the chair is authentic and not fake.

As I student who does online learning, I enjoy my second Ikea Millberget office chair for £65 and I can't complain about it at all. It's so comfy and it does tilt back

Got the exact same one in 2016 and it still serves me well. I've managed to break the left handle(a screw head of the screw that goes through the adjustment wheel). I got the replacement screw and fixed it, and then broke it again. Not using handles anymore because I'm overweight and apparently have a tendency to do gymnastics on my chair. It's still amazing and wouldn't trade it for anything else

I bought a relatively expensive "gaming chair" a year ago. It's great, much better than a cheap office chair, but it doesn't quite stand up to 8 hours a day of use. My next chair will definitely be an Aeron, despite the cost. It's never worth skimping on things like this!

I also got myself an Aeron chair a few years back - 2nd hand refurbished on Ebay. They're wonderful and have really changed my life when it comes to backpain and posture. One small word of warning: the castors have *destroyed* my carpet. I see you have the same ones as I do. I would get a mat or rug or something, or else you'll end up with a circular wear mark in your carpet like I did! Edit: watched until the end - getting those larger castors might be another idea. I went with a plastic "chair mat" instead :)

Nice review ...I have been umming and arrring about getting one for ages to replace my (pretty rubbish) gaming chair.....Just ordered a brand new one today from Herman Miller as they are 15% off in the spring sale....so got a fully loaded remastered (Posturefit/full tilt options/fully adjustable arms etc) Aeron for £900.15 (normally £1059)...went for the "gaming" version which is exactly the same as a normal aeron but black in colour which I liked the look of. Looking forward to now having comfort while at the PC all day in the shed....never spent so much on a chair but why not...life's too short (especially when you are 62 :) ) so with it's 12 year warrenty should be my last ever office chair ...thumbs up given

Thanks for sharing your experience! Let me tell you., you got the best version of the Aeron chair. I've first tried the Aeron in 2000 and never found a better chair for office work. I also tried the 3 different versions, the original, the one with the bigger back support and the remastered. It might depend on your preferences, body constitution and back shape but for me, the original is the most comfortable and best quality made out of the 3 by far. Even the arm rest wheel mechanism is better than the clips one, specially if you need to fix it. For some reason, the remastered doesn't do a thing on my back and the amount of plastic used means, it will break sooner. For comparison, you can still find the original, even the one made in the 90's and still works great. From how many office chairs can you say the same? Enjoy your Aeron, I'm sure you will for many years to come.
@StardustLegacyFighter
@StardustLegacyFighter Год назад
Remastered Aeron may have less metal parts, but you have to remember that the plastic used is still high end and very durable. Also, it's considered to be a far more comfortable chair than the classic, even by those who hate using mesh chairs. The combination of more flexible mesh technology and a better seat design makes the remastered version the better choice for most individuals. The remastered version also has more adjustable armrests (made from a better material than the classic version), a smoother recline motion, a far more responsive recline tension adjustment and a superior Posturefit SL back support. I also believe that if you are blessed enough to afford the polished version, then the build is more or less on par with the classic version.

@@StardustLegacyFighter I don't care about the mambo jumbo for the material names and marketing bs. All I have to say to someone looking for an Aeron chair is to try the different versions, not just the latest models. Then make a choice according to your findings. I know for some people, buying second hand goods might be hard but go the extra mile and do some research. You will be surprise. In the studio I'm working right now, we have the fastest, most expensive computers you can imagine as we do 3D content for movies. Yet, we still keep the old Aeron chairs because they are still 100% operational and because for most of us, they are the most comfortable in the market.

It's a real shame the prices of these have gone so crazy. I have one which I paid approx 250 5 years back with all the options, I've been working from home for years but it's been "commandeered" by my partner who is now also WFH, went to look and I'd need to pay at least 400 for one now :( mine is not showing any real signs of wear though other than the lumbar cushion split (replaced with cheap Chinese eBay clone for £20). Bear in mind some of these chairs are getting very old now, mine is the second generation one with the clips for the arms instead of a "wheel" type arrangement the early ones have, some of them are now 30 years old so may need TLC The IKEA jarfjallet is a good alternative for £150, I had a Markus before my Aeron on my main problem with it was the lack of adjustment on the lumbar cushion. This is fixed on the new version so I'd happily use that.. might have to pick one up as currently using a £50 chair and it's not great...

I'm so on the fence about getting one. This has to be my favorite premium office chair. I would love to get an Embody for computer and gaming but they are too new so used ones are really pricey. Assuming it is in fact an Aeron then you got a fantastic deal. They're definitely possible but it relies on someone selling it without knowing what it is. Can definitely get good deals by trawling listings of "office chairs" looking for someone selling an Aeron. I was a bit limited in that respect since I needed something that I could get delivered so looking through stores or collection only items wasn't an option.

@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
The age of this one isn't necessarily ideal but I suppose if you want an Aeron you're just kinda stuck with a relatively high price as they hold their value well. Although if it's gold enough condition as mine is, the age probably isn't a big deal as it seems extremely durable and unlikely to wear out. I'd rather have a 2001 model with mint condition mesh than a 2016 model with mesh that has started tearing. You can often get good deals though if you spend a while looking for people selling "office chairs" as some people simply don't know that what their selling is in fact an Aeron and is worth a fair bit. I ended up paying the full "refurbished" price purely out of convenience and because I needed to get it delivered due to covid restrictions. I also felt a bit weird about the idea of a "used" chair before realising that it's not really worse than a chair in an office or university lab.etc where you're not the first user of it. Then being mesh, it's probably fairly easy to keep clean vs a foam cushion.

How much?!!
@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
It's definitely not cheap and I'm sure that you're at least in part paying for the name, but the way I see it is that it's totally normal to spend over £500 on monitors, using a >£2k computer isn't seen as outrageous nowadays and those items tend to be upgraded every few years. Then from a furniture perspective, it's common to spend hundreds on a bed frame then even more on a mattress, even my bed and mattress would be well over £500 and that's pretty cheap IKEA stuff, and on weekdays when I'm working from home, I probably spend more time at my desk than I do in bed. So it didn't seem too outrageous to spend a decent amount on a good chair that will last me several years and probably still have some sort of resale value if I were to sell it in the future. Especially if it helps my back, I'll probably thank myself in the future, the financial impact of a good chair will be gone in a few months, but I'm stuck with the same back for life!
@justintemp
@justintemp 3 года назад
@@camerongray1515 true! Do you consider any alternative makes and models? What about those high back with headrest chairs you see all the time?
@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
I'm definitely not against other models, the Aeron just really appealed based on my particular requirements. High back and headrest are fine, I have an IKEA MARKUS at work, but it's not something I necessarily focus on since I can't think of the last time I've used the headrest. For me my priorities are lumbar support, and something I can have the tilt unlocked with it reclining comfortably, then the idea of mesh really appealed from a cooling perspective.

@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
There's definitely cheaper options out there and you absolutely don't need to spend this much on a chair although personally I'd be looking at each chair in its own merit rather than trying to find something that imitates an Aeron. Taking a look on Amazon, for the most part, they get the top half looking reasonably "Aeron like" but then put it on a generic office chair base whereas a huge part of the Aeron is the way that all of the adjustments and the tilt works. I've also found that with any chair I've had fail, it's always the mechanism that's gone first so I'd want to be sure that it's good quality.
@VAX1970
@VAX1970 3 года назад

@@VAX1970 I had a £165 one that I bought from Office Furniture Online in 2018, that's no longer with me, but it didn't break whilst I used it. However, I only realised how terrible it was once I had to use for longer periods of time when WFH. My tailbone and ass would be really sore after just an hour of using it, no matter how good my posture was. The Aeron has been amazing for me, and it's thoroughly worth the investment if you need to work for longer sessions. It's a night and day difference from any Amazon chair.
