With US insurance write offs, you can type in the VIN number into google and more often than not, you'll find the photos showing the damage to the vehicle. Good job you didn't buy that heap of junk. Good things come to those who wait, you'll pick up a gem of a motor before you know it. Great stuff lads.

Bent as a £9 note this auction company is. How were Copart not able to verify the history when this car went through their own company damaged says it all really. Great that you checked and so you should and well done for informing those who are unaware of this however Copart have no duty of care for this kind of thing to their customers. They've come into the UK, ruined the salvage market and here we are. Great job job boys and keep this up so the British public know what to look out for.

@@barrydoherty636 100% If a couple of traders in Kent can find out then the company who have sold it before would as well. The VIN would tell them this. Conveniently sold cars can be collected and sellers wanting to sell cars can drop them off but a viewing is out of the question. Crooks

Rob , hello I saw this car on copart in Flordia, I lived here in Flordia, after I retired from the military. I was very suspicious of this car I can explain what happened but it would take a long time too much to text. But in so many words, you have guys buying these kind of cars to resale them but can’t repair them and they keep Selling it . That’s why it has so many transfers of title. They sell it back to copart

What annoys me is the Copart listing just says the 'Primary Damage' is Minor Dents and Scratches.... That does seem like a definite case of false advertising if the car is a written off import from the US. Surely Copart should have a Car Vertical account and check vehicles to put customer's minds at ease!

Seems that copart don't care as long as they sell them. For someone outside the trade it appears cars that end up at copart it's there for some bad reason rather than a respectable garage forecourt 🤔

A very worthwhile video. Three things. Would Lamborghini in the USA not have a service history which would include mileage? Secondly, it does show the value of Car Vertical. I have seen people on here comment adversely about them, stating things have been missed on cars they have bought. This video shows how good it can be. Finally, I would hope the Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB) in the UK, would have this information. Experian too. When I sold cars, I would pass on information to them from time to time if a vehicle was suspect. It would be nice to know that someone wasn't going to get bitten on the bum in the future.

Rob Do you think it's worth amending the title so it includes 'Copart Lamborghini'. I think that will help it go viral. I can see this video generating alot of views and providing a warning to all salvage buyers of the dangers of not doing due diligence. Is it also worth making a short version for YT or tiktok to bring more traffic to your channel. Thanks for putting out the content, love the channel.

I'm sorry lads, but I have to disagree with you in the fact that you don't blame Copart. They are a US company and they would have known the full history of this car (especially as it's a high ticket car). This may be something they do on a regular basis if they can't sell a vehicle, they then send it to one of their sites in another country and hopefully they will get it sold there, as the info will be based on the vehicles time in that country and not from the US. I could be totally wrong in this, but somehow I don't think I am. Great video Rob & Chris and a great reason why people should use Car Vertical. 👍

This is absolutely normal for a car coming from USA. This might be something new to you guys because UK has steering wheel on the wrong side so there isn't much import going on from US, but for the rest of the Europe if a car comes from US this rings the bells straight away and they also worth less than a car from Germany or Belgium etc..

Lots of lessons learnt, thanks guys. Makes you wonder if it was originally a luxury hire car and with that history just image the potential mechanical issues. Recently Jay Emm on cars bought a UK ex track day experience car (cheap) and had no end of grief. Longer videos like this are great.

Sorry but the vendors knew it was imported and should have by law checked it's history in the same way you did and then REVEALED it's true history, but there again I wouldn't have bid more than 5 pence of that thing! Title changes go with the owner in the States. New owner, new title issued to the owner. Title washing is a thing though. Moving from one state to another to clean up a branded title. I grew up in the U.K. and now live in California. My wife used to be a title clerk at a dealership over here, sending paperwork to the DMV.

COPART USA and COPART UK are the same company so they'd have known exactly what they were selling (minus the crashed information and photographs/details from their American website)...... Different business registration numbers. You also missed out the UK / USA differences. Both have their own headquarters. They are two seperate entities with the same corporate ownership. For example, RU-vid has sack all to do with Alphabet. 😉💯

I only worry about the person that did win it. Copart did not do that great I understand no viewing on normal price cars but at 50K they should allow viewing. Keep ur eyes out as well i noticed it was sold on approval. Will the buyer be able to get out of it? The person just paided 20K above what it is worth.

So if you're spending £500 or £50,000 (Like Rob 🙂 ) then its well, well worth the money to save a ton of regret and heartache and get that Reg number or VIN number checked guys.

I think this just confirms the need to do a background check on any used car and to use a company such as Car Vertical that will provide an in depth check. Big relief for you guys - this could have been your worst nightmare! There must be quite a tale about how car like this gets written off in the US but is then transported more than 3K miles to a salvage auction in Doncaster. Can't help wondering if Copart know more about this as it seems it may have been through their american auctions as well!

Copart obviously know the history of that car, they are a global company established in the US. It's a disgrace to act like they are unaware of its history, when it's gone through one of their facilities in the US. I hope the purchaser of the car sees your video and takes action against Copart. If you can find the history of the car, Copart should have a legal responsibility to run proper checks on the cars. They charge enough!

You were right to do your due diligence. The higher cost means higher risk, and as you know, and auction can be a good way to sell on an example of a car that is... less than perfect, shall we say. You used your industry expert knowledge well here. Had that been even a reasonably well informed enthusiast like me, I dare say I would have been bidding on a lemon, and it seems like I wouldn't have been alone. This car would have broken your heart if you had bought it, Rob. What more is there to say? You said it all already.

if the buyer never knew and within a week someone points them to your video would they be able to return it to copart?, you say its no ones fault, i think it is, copart are a yank firm and would be fully aware of what their selling, ie a lemon, one of your best videos, thankfully car vertical saved the day, rob would of being gutted and so would us viewers, god hope whoever brought that heap of junk never have a bad crash only to find its not structurey sound.

Guys, an excellent video and Copart should hang their heads in shame. Their supply of details was very clearly inadequate and I refuse to accept that they could not trace this car through their US company. Just wonder if you should have alerted Copart to what you discovered before the auction started as the details they made available were clearly inadequate. A really useful and salutary story. Caveat emptor!!!

Really enjoyed this video, I for one would like to see more like this. I think you dodged a bullet there, Rob. It's possible the car was repaired exactly like the Fiesta wasn't. I suspect the ecu had been damaged or destroyed leading to the 3000 miles on the clock. It just goes to show, weather its a Fiesta or a Ferrari, do some checks.

shows how good car vertical is, especially on a left hand drive car from abroad, low value cars are worth the risk abit more, but a high value vehicle like this you would be devastated if you didnt do the research you done, and wise words as allways from chris saying bid worse case scenario before you found that out, great video guys

OMG great save from car vertical, highly unlikely the poor sole who bought that knew what we all know know, but im convinced the guy who bought it state side and shipped it here to get a fresh life knew EXACTLY what he was doing.

I hope the guy who bought it doesn't do a car vertical check after he's paid. I'm sure copart could have done a car vertical check and didn't you say copart sold it in the usa. Anyway well swerved lads.

New to your channel quite recently, but really enjoyed this - I had assumed you bought it given the length of vid. I think showing ones you dont buy is interesting too as you can explain why, and as this is all real and you film it before you buy we don't know at the beginning what will happen - and thats always more interesting.

Brilliant content and really shocking that some poor bugger has bought a car that has had some many issues and was written off someone going too lose out big time think co-part should do more when a car comes from abroad so you don't end up with a lemon and glad you guys are so experienced too do your checks before hand and find out that was a close one there 😂

Definitely dodged a bullet there and a real eye opener. I know you said that Copart weren't to know, but from the checks you done, it went through Copart in the US previously. My question would be, why isn't that information made known to potential Copart UK customers? I can't believe that in 2022, they don't collaborate and share information on a central system somewhere.
