(Webinar) As we continue to socially distance in the pandemic, many are getting involved in distance education by force, not choice. And in doing so educators and students are being exposed to copyright law issues. While these are probably not on people’s minds as we navigate this “new normal,” there are concerns about how copyrighted materials are being utilized in video conferencing, virtual classrooms, and beyond.
The goals of the presentation are for the participant to:
➢ understand the basics of copyright law and its relevance during the pandemic
➢ explain and apply the concepts of expression, fixation, originality, ownership, notice, registration and duration regarding written and Internet-based forms
➢ utilize and employ the ideas of fair use, public domain, expiration and forfeiture as exceptions to copyright requirements
➢ discuss and describe how the law affects copyright owners
➢ recognize recent court decisions on the subject and analyze them
➢ identify and evaluate current pieces of legislation involving copyright and
➢ apply knowledge of copyright during the complexities of Covid 19.
