«hromadske» is in Barvinkove again. We have not been here for two weeks, and during this time the situation in the town has deteriorated. The outskirts are smoking. «We already have civilians killed. There are neither military nor industrial facilities here. This is an agricultural town. And there are air raids for days here», - Oleksander Balo, the town's mayor in the south of the Kharkiv region, tells us. The Russian military has been trying to advance to Barvinkove from Izium for more than a month in order to encircle the Ukrainian defense forces in the Donbas. However, during this time, the Russians were able to take control of only a few small villages on the way to the town. In this direction, the Russians are opposed by the 93rd Kholodnyi Yar brigade. «It's difficult here; they brought a lot of hardware here. And there are many ravines in this area. Many of their groups hold heights. But it's okay, we'll knock them out to the border,» -the platoon commander Vlad «Zmii» Sord tells us, who was a writer and publisher in civilian life.
