OMFG!! I made this and i'm about to cry. Why wasn't this shown to me ealier. Its a beautifful balance of flavours and a perfect beginer dish that permits little white boy me to get thousands of flavourfull bites. THANK YOU SO MUCH. *stuffs mouth with more çilbir*
We have only letter "v" in Turkish and it sounds like "w" in English. Generally we can't tell the difference between the two before someone saying it. They are both "v" for us :)
Ever since I saw a video of someone making ÇILBIR, I’ve been obsessed! I love this dish and so does my daughter! This recipe is much better and I love to take the sharpness of the garlic by boiling it with the egg! 🙏🏼❤️🥚🥯🧄🧈🌶
Out of all the çilbir videos I’ve watched, Refika, yours is the best! I love that you toast the bread and lay it down first, then add the garlic yogurt and the eggs, and finally drizzle over everything what looks to be a whole lot more than one tablespoon of foaming pepper butter lol! All I need is a big spoon and I’m ready to eat. It’s so gorgeous!
I am amazed how similar our kitchens are... we have a version of this called "Яйца по Панагюрски" - "Eggs from Panagyurishte", which are essentially the same, but without the bread and plus some bulgarian white cheese. Great sharing again!
We're from the south of Spain and we make poached eggs over bread with a little bit of olive oil like this, but I've never thought of adding the yogurt sauce or butter. It looks so good 🌼
This looks SO amazing! I'm in love with the use of garlic and yogurt in Turkish food. So simple and tastes amazing. Since you always help us with language tips, what you're calling "edginess" in the garlic, we would call "bite." When something has a bite or loses its bite, we're referring to bitterness, spiciness, or some sort of very strong flavor, but especially spiciness.
i just made this for the 1st time... and WOW this is unbelievably delicious! words fall short of how magical this tastes! its sensational! its rich, a wholesome dish that leaves you feeling filled, satisficed, and nourished! like a hug. everyone should cook this at least once, its sensational! and now ill be making this weekly. i changed it up to my yogurt i added lemon juice &mint with the garlic ......... to my butter i used smoked paprika, chipotle, cumin, black pepper & tiny bit nutmeg. make it your own with the spice you like. it'll be amazing!
Refika, you are amazing! Greetings from Bulgaria! I make these eggs for my Indian husband every Sunday for the past few months. He loves them a lot! I enjoy watching you and even though our food is heavily influenced by yours it’s fun to see the variations and similarities. Thank you!
Tried it yesterday and it was unbelievably good. didn't imagine it would taste THAT fantastic - what a great suprise! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. 😍
Perfect Breakfast for Dinner and Breakfast! I am used to simple and complex tastes. I LOVE Yogurt! I LOVE Eggs! I'm Italian and I also LOVE Bread!!!!!!
We love you guys!!! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes, culture, family and your beautiful smile and spirit!! You and your camera operator warm our hearts and have inspired us to “try” to recreate your incredible dishes!!! (We have never had better humus.) Thank you from our Family to Yours. May God bless you and keep you safe.
Finally! I tried to make this once but was not convinced by the result to be the real deal. So I thought I wait for Refika’s version. And here we are. Tessekür ederim :)
God Bless Refika from U.S Arizona! My daughter and I watch you always and love your bubbly personality and your love for teaching about food. Your pronunciation for the "v" sound is to adorable and I love it! Now question: Do you have recipes with 5 ingredients or less? The U.S. is a very fast pace and cooking this amazing recipes can be time consuming when you don't have all the ingredients at hand. Watching you I can tell we could be best friends, we are bubbly as you!
Actually our one pot vegetable dishes could be considered as 5 ingredient dishes, because you have meat (or not-if you are vegan) onions, tomatoes, a vegetable (green beans, peas, zucchini, ocra, eggplant) and pepper paste, and there you have a home cooked meal. Refica has a video for that too ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nTQE-z_YAu8.html We cook like this quite often in Turkey, like three times a week. You can leave out the meat, use olive oil and there you have a mezze like dish that you can even eat cold
Hahaha as a Turkish I might say that we don't have the word w in our language so we always confuse the pronunciation of v and w and it is a bit tricky for us. Though you are right that Refika's accent is a bit heavy especially the v sound 😁
I'm so hungry after watching that. Such a simple recipe but my mouth was watering all the way through, 🤤 & when you poured the spiced brown butter on top! Heaven. I have some boiled potatoes left from yesterday, so I'm going to sauté them & substitute the bread for them & have that for dinner with the rest of your recipe for dinner tonight. 😋 Great video as always, thank you.
I finally got a chance to try this recipe and i have to say...I love it! It was quick and easy to make and adjust to my kitchen and my tastes. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and culture with us. You are in our prayers. Thank you.
Rafika I miss you , your videos give me positive energy ❤ when I dont see it like 3 4 days , feels like the day is empty , u teach beautiful delicious food wish I could meet you some day , love from Pakistan
This is my favorite egg dish, I love it! Use Turkish yogurt with 10% fett content, you need a very good yogurt with hige fett content. If you don`t like it, something is wrong with you. :)
Great dish! thanks for sharing. kind advice for poaching eggs: Stir the water ( make a little tornado) und drop the egg inside. the resulat will be perfect! and put some vinegar in the water.
Making poached eggs in a shallow pan takes so much of the fiddly factor out of the whole process! I had to try it right after I watched the video and it worked like a charm. Thank you for posting this recipe!
Every recipe is a real hit for me and my family! Thank you so much for sharing the perfect recipes & tips! Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see your face on a package of Erişteli Tarhana Çorbasi at my favorite Turkish deli☺️
I love the little veiws of Turkey during your videos... that looks yummy breakfast tomorrow morning for sure... thank you, lovely Lady. With love from 🇿🇦
great minds think alike they say :-) Made Çılbır for the first time today and then find you have posted your own version on the same day. Wish I had made it sooner, such a light and fresh dish, great for a lunch on a warm day. We do get them in England every now and then! I made mine my own using saffron in the butter and I think it worked well
Dear Refika, if you would give live cooking workshops, I would totally fly to Istambul to take them! I love your video’s! I shop at my local Turkish foodshop every week now. This is real food!
Awesome ! Pls keep in your mind the yogurt should be natural or let say (salty) 😃 I am telling this just because in Europe when anybody says “yogurt” people thought a sweet. However the original and dominantly in Turkey we consume a natural yogurt. Not sweet at all.
I made this for lunch. My 1st attempt. I didn't have an appropriate bread, so just used store bought sliced bread. Omg... its so delicious! I can eat this everyday. Its very filling too.
I just made this and I cannot believe how delicious it is!! I'd have never guessed that this weird combo would work so well😅 Thanks Refika!!! For the bread, I tried 'Mangalore Buns', which I had left over-they're buns made of bananas and are from my native place. All the taste from the different ingredients just blended fabulously!! Thank you again for sharing this recipe😃
I found these really neat silicone egg cups in a nearby store. You lightly oil the mold, crack the egg, place the silicone into a shallow pan of boiled water and cover. Within minutes, you have perfect eggs without the mess or need for vinegar.
The drone images of Bosphorus and Kuzguncuk give a huge breath of air. İ wish more streets of Istanbul be like Kuzguncuk, more pedestrian friendly, with parks and shady streets. From may to october, İstanbul is still one of the most fascinating cities in the world, but life and transportation get really tough because of the heat. And of course the few available parks and relatively nearby woods are crowded. Maybe one day, Refika Dream Team will explain us the turkish art of pic-nic, with recipes like mercimek çiğ köfte. Or maybe a description of the "mangal" formula ("buy my meat, rent my bbq and shady table, and bring all the rest") that brings joy to many families who want to flee from the city's heat and lack of clean air. Selamlar!
Refika - what Barbra Streisand brings to the singing voice - you bring to food! You are my two favourite women in the world. I play my Tarkan, Mustafa Sandal & Sertab Erener songs as I cook your food and I am the happiest man in England. Refika - you are the Turkish Wonder Woman - one day I hope you will collect me from my home, take me to your kitchen and you can share with me your knowledge on how to cook the most perfect Turkish food. Thank you. Sending my love to your production team.
