Thanks for giving the reason for such a cut. Years back, there was a logging show on discovery and they could have saved many trees if they would have used that cutting style….. 2-1-2024 🇺🇸
EXCELENTE!!!

In clear cut areas it can fall almost anywhere so you would not bother with this cut. However while it’s ideal for semi urban areas, that’s where older trees need to be removed. Anything with a rotten core presents a problem as the central peg would be weak.
Really? You need to get out more man. That might be the biggest waste of time I've ever seen in a logging aspect of my life! I could teach your sister to fall that tree within a 3 ft Landing Zone in about 30 minutes.
@@laineydelaineywho uses plastic eye glass protectors, everone I see running a chain saw don't use non unless they in a tree cutting over there head they use then just to stop the anything from falling in the eyes, it isn't like it's shooting the saw dust directly at your face
Did tree work for a while in my younger years. Worked for two different tree companies (did not own either business.. just employee.) Gotta say, although a bit time consuming, and probably a little tough on the saw, if you really need a tree to drop accurately, wow, A great technique to be properly taught. Very cool.
Cool idea but seems a little tedious if you have to do multiple trees. I'm sure loggers have a way to do it with less cuts and still ensure the tree goes where they want it to go...
I live in a town called Sweet Home, Oregon, USA. It has been a logging town since before paved roads. I have not seen this cut before, but I love it. You are a Rock Star!
Hello sweet home, from Eugene, Oregon. My sister and brother-in-law used to live down the road in deadwood I just realized I got confused between sweet home and Swiss home, but hello from Eugene anyway 😎
Lived in Eagle Point, Ashland, White City OR back in the 80's. Oregon was an awesome place then with lots of logging. OR looks to be ruined now so glad I live far from there now. Great memories though.
I like the twist because it's still controlled and it's not insane Just put it this way loggers daughter And yes I've gone to college and I know how to fall trees correctly with the 45° angle at b.h. calculation and safety location before cutting to run too.
@@hugoacosta9365 So tell us, how is it evil? You probably dont realize Hugo that trees are a renewable resource. Many forests in the US cover greater areas than they did 200 years ago. Why? Because of our fire suppression. What's evil is the lies told by leftists trying to destroy our industries.
Nice, I’ve never seen it done like this either! However, I’m just curious to know your secret to longevity, 350 years is a mighty long time to be hanging around this place and I need to make sure I avoid it… 😉✌🏼
It reliably prevents the tree from turning if the crown has grown unevenly, i.e. one side is heavier, or perhaps the crown will turn on another tree if the tree cannot fall freely! I'm a landscape gardener, but I didn't know this technique! Thanks, I've learned something again!
I love this. I love that there are minds that come up with this stuff. The guys who claim to be precise without any special cuts are the guys cutting trees down in the woods or a fenceline, not in a suburban setting where it might be a game of inches.
A guy i know used to put money on being able to fall a tree where he wanted it. Once finished his beer (very safe sounding i know) and said he could smash the can with the tree top. He walked out, placed the can on the ground, got to cutting and the very top of the tree smashed dead on the can. He could land a tree on a fricken quarter. No special cuts needed. And yes he was falling them between houses and garages etc.. But i do like the concept of this cut in the video. Tho i do worry if it might make barber chairing more likely
If you cut a wedge in a tree, it can fall either to one side or the other way, depending on the center of mass of the tree above the cut. The only way to fix a direction of fall is to make a guide, as this man has done

@@blti7670 you are absolutely correct. I worked as a wildland firefighter for 6 years in California and Nevada. This took way longer than necessary to cut down a tree.
@@300beatz u completely are missing the point. It's a controlled fall. Much safer & predictable. No one claims it to be quick. It's about controlling the direction and keeping the tree from rolling. Actually he's attempting to keep the tab end in the stump yet it does fall out here...
Dude is an idiot. I cut logs for 17 years. This is wasteful on so many levels. First thing he needs to do is learn how to sharpen a chain. Second is learn how to tune that stihl.
Makes sense by yourself on a property, but for me…I’m just going to climb, top it, section it down. In middle of nowhere, and with someone…push pole it
If you wanna waste a bunch of wood, burn 4 times the fuel and have 4 times the wear on your saw, sharpen your chains 4 times more often per tree. That's totally up to you. Also a tree small enough to put a 14" bar straight through is hardly worth the effort. Best case scenario it's firewood.
@@jimhouse9961 Yes, it could be useful for a very precise fall. I have a eucalypt that I need to fell between a building and an oak, so I might try this method.
@@PetePiper I don't claim to know everything, but I have worked in the woods for 30 something years. So in this case at least I know something. It's hard, dangerous work which very few modern people are prepared to do. And even less people know anything about. But everybody has to have an opinion regardless of if they bring something to the table or not. Mark my words this is a circus act, not a viable way to fell a tree.
@@arvincabugnason6728 really? Lets check. Today the mortality rate for logging is 84 per 100,000 a year. In 1860 it was at 23.2 for every 100,000. Hmm seems like a steady increase of dead people has happened as we advanced. No doubt due to requiring loggers to not only log, but they also need to run multimillion dollar equipment. Nope they were safer when their job was just to cut down trees whatchaknowit
I cut a lot of trees awhile back to heat my home. I only had one tree that made me run like hell. The others fell right where I sent them, but I never used this technique. With all that cutting, I'd have already been on the next tree before this guy got done. Doesn't mean it isn't cool, though!
If you drop that many tress in a year, than you know 2 cuts is all you need, but than again where I live we got hard ass oak and you'd never be able too cut it like that, know matter how big the saw is.
