Words of çam and baş are Turkish words. Çam means pine and baş means top or head so Çambaşı means the top of pine. Besides '' hadi hadi gidelim bizim odaya '' means come on come on let's go to our room. Besides there are turkish words like yavru or yavrı means baby and ''yavrum'' means my little one and duvar (wall)..and also '' yar yar aman '' yar means beloved, and aman is exclamatory word that describes the astonishment, liking, longing etc.
Even somewhat delayed, I have to thank you for providing us with strong knowledge about some Turkish lyrics (the phrase '' hadi hadi gidelim bizim odaya ', in particular). Although I am a native Greek speaker, many of the lyrics could not be deciphered by me, since they are either of Pontiac Greek dialect (which can be very stretched from the modern greek language of central Greece) or of Turkish origin, as it seems. Words like yavrum/yavri or duvar are well embodied in the modern Greek language, although the first ones are more folkish and informal (the latter "duvar" is used with the same meaning, pronounced in Greek with a small -i added in the end: duvar-i/ντουβάρι". In the Greek language, ending with a vowel is preferred). As for the "aman" word, is extremely common in modern Greek and describing the same nuances as you mentioned! Now...Cambasi(n) refers to a mountainous settlement of Pontus that was destroyed by a devastating fire in September 1913. This catastrophic event is the core of this song here and is described briefly (but with poetic strength) in the first verse: "Cambasi(n) is burnt (x2) / and (only) the walls were left." After that, the narrative goes in Pontic Greek language, saying something like "when we heard that, we rushed to save/the lads of Ordu" (as far as I can understand - it makes sense). The Cambasi(n) settlement was placed on the mountainous plateau of the Ordu area and was constructed mainly of wooden huts since it was used as a temporary settlement for the hot summer days of the area - hence the fire was devastating. The rest of the song is a love song and the narrative digresses from the Cambasi)n) events in this variation. The whole song here is presented in the 1969 film "The Odyssey of an uprooted man", about the adventures of an Asia Minor Greek-descendant trying to locate his ancestors deep in the area in the 1960s, 40 years after the Greek-Turkish War of 1920-22 and the population exchange. Nikos Xanthopoulos is the actor starring in the film (the man in the suit here), an extremely popular actor of the 60s Greek Cinema, who passed away yesterday, aged 89. Mind you, this is a social drama with a lot of sentimental loads and by no means a historically accurate documentary. Unfortunately, no information is given about the rest of the performers, who are dressed in traditional garments. I cannot say that I am a big fan of traditional Pontic songs, but this cover here in particular is captivating (at least, for me!). Thanks again for the language details!:) 😎
