The Step sequence had very shallow edges, sometimes flat. His jumps are excellent but I find the rest of the performance a bit lacklustre - not too much connection with the music, slow spins. He has great potential though and he will only improve in the artistic side Update after watching Semenenko's short: in my opinion Evgeny deserved the higher placement. His jumps were just as good as Kovalyov's, faster spins (especially just after the jumping passes, no loss of energy. Kovalyov only picked up the pace in the second half of the program. Semenenko was much more involved with the music (again, only after the jumping, but since he front-loaded, he could be as expressive as he wished later on. Still, far from the level of Kolyada, of course) Semenenko's step sequence looked more complex and had deeper edges, but was also level 2, just like Kovalyov and not with a huge GOE either. The judges were fair to both, I think

@@wotanworld5504 I haven't watched the entire competition yet and you know that judges can be stingy to skaters that perform earlier. Since it's impossible to watch the event in one video or check the start-list, that might have something to do with the low levels for StSq, but don't quote me on it 😁 I did watch Gumenik's short though and I agree - he's a hidden gem! ❤️
