The Seven Sisters cliffs are chalk depositions that formed at the bottom of the ancient sea more than 100 million years ago.
The rocks fall by 30-40 centimetres every year. However, this process of erosion allows the rocks to retain their snow-white colour.
There are many different hiking trails around the Seven Sisters to enjoy this beautiful landscape.
Walking along the shore, you get incredible aesthetic pleasure. The turquoise water is perfectly combined with the blue sky, snow-white rocks, and perfectly green hills.
Also, walking along the cliff, you can see the consequences of landslides that occur here during strong storms and rains.
The white cliffs of Dover met travellers who sailed from the mainland. Hence the commonly known name of the British Isles, Foggy Albion. After all, Albus is Latin for "white".
The Seven Sisters cliffs are especially beautiful in the rays of the evening sun. White rocks absorb the sun's rays and acquire bright, warm colours. At this time many people come here to admire the incredible evening scenery.
The next day we set off on a new route along the shore. Our goal was to reach Cuckmere Haven. This is where the River Cuckmere flows into the English Channel.
From the Birling Gap tourist centre, where we started our route, to Cuckmere Haven beach you need to walk a distance of almost five kilometres. The hiking trail runs along the Seven Sisters hills, so you constantly go up and down. It is better to take water and a light snack with you because a lot of energy is spent on the hike.
