@@cyperx555 The Soviet Union "worked" for a lot of people. People had jobs, food security, housing, etc. This in a society which was a former agricultural absolutist state, and was under constant siege by the most powerful nations in the world. It was immensely flawed, no doubt, but shouldn't be dismissed outright. We shouldn't adopt easily disproven talking points. What's certain is that a new Russian Socialist state must learn from what lead up to the conditions which lead to the collapse in 1991, which go all the way back to even the Stalin days.
Very interesting to see this. What i especially like is how you sometimes have multiple pieces of film showing at the same time, which is actually very reminiscent of some of the propaganda posters i've seen or own. They'd have several photos placed over the canvas with the text seemingly built around it, not the other way around. Another fun part was of course the usage of music and audio. The usage of Bandierra Rossa to counter Franco, the locomotive communard song (forgot the name) for progress, the way Hitler was the only one of the three dictators to not have his voice altered in comedic effect, and the music going all dark tone in a moment to point out "this is a man you should all be afraid of. The true evil." Soviet propaganda is a very fascinating subject. However it is also hard to access without proper knowledge of Russian, and i'm only an A1 speaker. I'd love more content like this. Heck i love all your content. If you'd set up a patreon i'd support you.
if you look closely at the shots from 14:42 you might notice that some soldiers are wearing american helmets which means that some of those clips are from elbe day, the soviets had respect for americans even in the cold war!
Albania’s flag is also present during the same scene (the quality of it makes it hard to see the Eagle, but it’s the one between Yugoslavia and Poland) which is also interesting for the same reason as China. I suppose that this movie was intended to help foster unity.
At 20:15 is interesting to see that the right video is from the demonstrations in Athens in the 50s for the Cypriot struggle against British colonialists and for the union of Cyprus with Greece.
