Cercassian dance and music has me hooked. I love the theatricality of the dance. I also like how it all stands up against western disco. The foot work is so close to being Shuffle. The body work has the dignity of celtic dancing with a great emphasis on vertial line and minimal hip movement. The head and arms though are as flamboiant as possible, almost like Spanish bullfighting but with their own language. It's the arm movements that to the untrained eye come across as over the top, but it dosn't take long to get used to them, AND they make sense when you consider the energetic use of the floor. Its seems to be the job of the male dancer to fill the entire room with his energy.
Great analysis. So too I think it is one of the best forms of dancing I have ever seen. Restraint and suppressed fire. I love the little reverence as the dancers step off the floor.
I noticed the name ALAN on the floor. My name is ALAN and I come from England. ALAN is used as a male name all over the world especially parts of Europe. In ancient times the was a nation called The ALAN PEOPLE.
The alan's were invaders from the east who used horses: fearce warriors. They had their day in the sun and then were defeated by other war like peoples.
