littlehouse15 you are so completely right and everyone that is saying that RAD is a good method is so wrong. Having trained for 14 years in RAD and now training in Vaganova I call tell you which is better. RAD leads to a lot of injuries because of the requirements of the technique. Russian dancers are the best in the world. So strong yet expressive it is undeniably thanks to a fantastic technique. They are the true classical dancers of today. Americans are primarily gymnasts - 9 pirouettes - where is that in Swan Lake? It's not...
+Alice Goodwin I completely agree. I've trained RAD and I had 3 injuries this year. When I trained Vaganova the movementes were slower but I've never had injuries with Vaganova method
I do know, that's why I can judge. The best dancers in England trained in methods other than RAD. Compare any level of RAD to the same level in Russia, or Cuba, or even the best American schools and you'll see plainly just how and where RAD is lacking. And today's best dancers are not American. The best dancers are still the Vaganova trained dancers from Russia, China, etc any of the state schools that follow Vaganova method.
Боже!!! Как много движений и их порядок они запомнили!!! Какая красота!))) Ну вот как они запоминают порядок движений.... Да так долго.... И много....)))))
НГХК is pronounced [EN] [GA] [HE] [KA], but its just initials for Novosibirsk State College of Choreography . Its one of the state ballet schools in Russia.
Those pirouettes are really hard to do, they require a lot of domain. I understand what you are trying to say, but pirouettes are not everything in ballet. They are beautiful and full of art, please, don't forget that before virtuosity comes ART.
RAD doesn't suck. It's different. If u have a good teacher every method are good....I'm a RAD's professional student and i'm really proud for it. Horrible technique?! Did u know that english method was born mixing the best of the others methods (russian, danish french and italian) to create a really strong technique? If today the best dancers are american ones, is thanks to english method. If u don't know, please don't judge.
I believe RAD is lacking; however, all ballet steps are basically the same, the technique, upper body and arm movements are different. I believe that one thing that has gone wrong in much of Western ballet, is an attitude that turnout is not essential, that body type and weight doesn't matter, a lack of discipline, parental interference, and a ridiculous notion that a teacher must not touch the student.
Well, they can't control their pirouettes. You get the feeling that if the barre weren't there they'd all fall out the window, so that's not good. I doubt they'd be able to do this in center since they haven't perfected it at barre. My guess is that these girls must be about Level VI? Or a bad VIII.
Oh yeah, this looks like RAD. ROFL. NOT. RAD really sucks. Horrible technique. The ballet company's dancers are good because they train in something other than RAD, usually Vaganova, which this clearly is. I want to know what level these girls are, and how old.
lol. Defensive much? if you didn't think what I said was true, you wouldn't be so upset. And, how would you know if I 'have any right' or not? Obviously I know what I'm talking about, or I would not have said it. I'd be like those people who think RAD is awesome, or that it's okay to put six year olds en pointe because it 'looks cute'. Obviously I know better than a lot of people there.
