In fairness they did advertise it in advance as basically being a reskin so the only shocking thing is they have advertised it the same way for two years and people have still brought it on day one at full price.
In their defence, they straight up say with their legacy games that there's no change aside from minor kits. It's not like they're selling you an old game that looks like it's new (cough FIFA 14 VITA). The people buying this know upfront what's going on. EA has been doing this for decades now with FIFAs on PS2, PSP etc so why now is it a bad thing? I can understand being dissapointed they aren't bringing the Switch version to parity with the main console version, but at least there's no deception or false advertising here.
@@FraserSouris I think if they priced it accordingly there would likely be very little moaning about it. Full price release for amounts to a patch is basically theft.
@@andy_manns For sure. FIFA 18-20 on Switch is sitting at around $25-30 on Amazon right now. I imagine if EA had a program where existing FIFA owners could upgrade to next years game for like $15 max, it would be more pro-consumer.
@@FraserSouris Yes, they say it if you bother to look into it, but you already know tons of customers will be mislead by the 21 on the cover which to any normal person signals a new game from 20. Anything short of titling the game FIFA 19 update 1.2 is dishonesty in my book.
@@jadeliu1462 The title is "legacy version" which is a giveaway that no improvements have been made, as it has been for the last several years. I don't think people are being misled now. If you bought the games since FIFA 18 legacy edition, you know what to expect with FIFA 21 Legacy Edition. It's not like the Vita and WiiU versions where they didn't even have Legacy in the title.
It's not like she's playing a bad game though. The only reason it's getting a bad score is because it's the same as last years version, not because it's genuinally bad
Even regular Fifa is somewhat different every year even if it's negligible to the average of person. If you're on Switch it's literally the same game every year
Even then, there are still limits to what the Switch can run. Big honkers like Final Fantasy 7 Remake or Yakuza Kiwami 2 won't run well on Switch unless they get huge downgrades.

EA’s “efforts” on Nintendo Switch are laughable. EA is a joke, especially not supporting the hot selling hybrid console like they should? Losers for sure.
Parents who have football fan kids with a Switch will buy it every year. Maximum profits, minimum effort. Until people demand more, they won't get more.
It's just a matter of time until they will stop supporting the Switch, and then they will claim that they pulled out due to low demand from Switch owners.
@@oppium7588 Switch has its own market that doesn't really pull from either Playstation or Xbox, so why not support it? Its indie dev library is impressive, to boot (even if Nintendo refuses to help you parse through it, lol), so that supplements big ticket items like FIFA, Skyrim, Mario, etc.
This subject is purely subjective, both games are completely different and you can't really put them in the same genre, it's like saying Mario Kart 8 is better than Gran Turismo.
More reviewers need to post scores like this when EA pulls stuff like this. It’s pretty obvious they basically throw this obvious stink at Switch fans simply so EA execs can go to their shareholders with excuses to not support one of the highest selling platforms with weak game sales. Because Shareholders are rightfully putting pressure to support, but EA believing shareholders don’t know anything about their lack of efforts could be fooled that it was just lack of interest and they should drop the platform for that game series. If more reviewers respond in kind, an EA zero effort sports release would be in plain sight for even shareholders to see. Heck, if they put in half the effort that they put in their non-sports games on Switch, maybe they’d have real cause for better sales. But I guess they can’t be bothered. I guess they like throwing money away to other publishers that reap success there.
Absolutely perfectly done review.. finally we have a voice!! and its this reviewer!! Weve said it for years now that EA has never bothered to enhance FIFA in any way.. pile of rubbish and this is proof! And if you still do buy this then youre a sheep. Thank you for the BRILLIANT review! Give this man a promotion or a rise for speaking the truth to the masses!!!! 👍
Game developers for FIFA have very easy work to do : Just press backspace 2 times, enter a number which is one more than the previous entry and release the game.
Will it at least include create a club in fifa 22 legacy? Also they are lowering the price this year to 30 poundsinstead of 50 or if you pre order on the actual game then 15 pound
I think its time that sports games move on from the annual release model and come up with something better. Like they're now even charging 10 dollars more next gen. Even on these annual games.
They should be doing that each time they release a new engine for that generation of systems and any minor tweaks to improve performance should be included as patches and seasonal updates at a small price until the next version of the game engine starts being used.
So what if this was my *first* fifa game on switch, since ive bought all the games for ps4 but now i have a switch and think it would be cool to play fifa on the go, how would yall recommend it like that?
I do not know how they can justify this especially because I feel like even if they kept the same gameplay just minor changes to the career mode would make a big difference at least
It's easy to understand what EA is actually doing, they'll treat better the player that give them money each year by thinking that every FIFA changes something other than the the title number. They get more money from XBOX and PS4 players, and it's not even an enjoyable game trust, i din't wanted to buy the 20 after feeling the 19 exactly the same as the 18 and the 17, but a friend convinced me to buy it at 6$...and trust me...it's the SAME, DAMN, GAME, and i've got no doubt that 21 is the SAME, DAMN, GAME. They could put the "changes" of carrer mode of FIFA 21 in 20, but no, they sell it as if they made the gratest inovation in gaming, and end up puting it in the next "game" (wich should be just called updates). Be smart and save money, keep the fifa from last year.
They do minor changes every year. You just won't notice them if you don't play the game. People say its the same game every year, but no its actually been getting worse. Every year looks like a downgrade.
It just a past gen (PS3/XBOX360) gameplay that's been released with a few reskins and a fresh branding lol. Even some animation, like players jumping before the kick-off, are from fifa 14
