It does have a very sitcom-ish vibe to it. Something like the police academy! Would love to see a funny, light-hearted sitcom with Yugoslav police as main characters, since the police in Yugoslavia never had to deal with gruesome crimes (My uncle was a police comissioner during that time, he and several other people interviewed on TV literally say the homicide division was bored shitless at work :P and most of the activity went down at traffic and customs)

Oh, I know about that channel already. He’s only used a couple things from my channel and he’s not actually reuploading the same video even if he does use the same pictures sometimes. I don’t mind that at all. After all, I don’t actually own the rights to anything I post. My entire goal is to get these old and forgotten songs out there. If they were just reuploading my entire channel without credit, then that would be another thing. But using a couple songs and translations doesn’t hurt anyone. Thanks for looking out, though. Oh please, unlike the army which we basically rebuilt from scratch the Slovene police was never forced to undergo any reforms in 1991. They got new badges and a fresh coat of paint but all of the old practices, personel and institutions were left the same. So they remained the same corruptible old sacks of wine as in yugo times. Trying to pinpoint any major differences between the milica and modern policija is absurd, they're basically the same organisation.

minibug they were very harsh but people respected them a lot because they kept the streets clean and they all had good big hart's but knew when punishment is due so generally people respected them. My grandmother always smiled when she walks by them how much she respects them.

people respected country itself and all its structures. milicija(yugoslavian law enforcment) had patrolmen who didnt carry guns. why? because there wasnt any crime to begin with. state secret police brutally destroyed any criminal who tries to appear. petty criminals could be named on fingers of one hand in city. it was enough for milicioner to summon him to station over the phone. they really protected people , public and private property and were ruthless to those who were trying to execute corruption or steal public property. country was so safe, you could fall asleep on a bench ANYWHERE and nobody would harras you. it was enough for one milicioner to show up, and all troublemakers would run away. they didnt have fast cas, because police chases were matter of american movies and was ridiculed. people didnt run away from milicija, beccause country wasnt big and there werent many places to hide if you were criminal.

in 1940s, when Germany occupied and devastated Kingdom of Yugoslavia, leftovers of royal police in Serbia remained in service of occupational government. So during he war, word Police and Polizei got frightening meaning and were hated by people. Communists gave the name "people's militia= narodna milicija) to give it more close connection to the poeple. and the purpose of milicija and police today are very different in constitution.

So it's basically the same story as in the UdSSR itself, where the word Polizei has become frightening and hateful because the Nazi Polizei had fuctions of genocide and oppressive policing. Although there, already the czar's police before 1917 showed itself oppressive and murderous enough to be abolished right away as one of the most hated traits of pre-revolutional Russia.
