Hi Dearest Maestro. I had been a fan of Bulgarian national music since 1966. Your orchestral performances are truly the BEST. My warmest Regards Regards from Baghdad, Iraq.
Thanks a lot for the concert! I am half Bulgarian half Romanian from a village near the border. Our music has lots in common with yours. The same messages same spirituality. The West is very diff .It has not our hora/the dance in circle that unites people. It has only stupid fun music. Your re great!
Given all music I like, Bulgarian folk music is still my favorite--it is entertaining, deeply moving, engagingly complex, and varied. Much of your folk music seems like main themes for large scale movies, some seem like fine country music, some classical, some youthful, some mysteriously ancient. I am always scouting for music I appreciate yet keep coming back to Bulgarian even though I am Irish-Italian. On that note, has anyone ever tried to meld Gaelic music with Bulgarian whether instrumental or vocal?
Of course, there are such successful examples. One of them is a French project with the participation of Melanie O'Reilly and the Bulgarian musicians from "Diva Reka". Unfortunately, there is no record of this otherwise good project.
Hi Dimitar! Thanks for posting this. Great stuff as usual! Do you know if there is anyone who would like to help me understanding the lyrics of the sung material you directed? I found out Bulgarian music is extremely fascinating, but I'd like to delve more by understanding its lyrics. Thanks :-)
Hi Sergio. I am glad that you like Bulgarian music and what we do with the Orchestra of the BNR. Bulgarian song creativity is vast and very diverse in terms of subject matter and folklore affiliation. It is difficult if you do not know the language to go deep into the text. So just enjoy.
