Do it yourself: repairing the CV joint boot with stockings and tights after 4 years of car operation.
Hello dear motorists. Today we have a new video from the do-it-yourself series. I will show you the results of repairing the CV joint boot with pantyhose and stockings removed from my wife.
Let's look at the result of the experiment - is it possible to fix the boot on the semi-axle using nylon stockings or tights. They were removed from my wife, I did it 4 years ago. I had three torn anthers out of four here. I took the usual nylon tights and wrapped them, well, as you can see with a collar. Better the clamp tightens the CV joint anthers than the wire. And so I went for 4 years. Out of the three wrapped anthers, 2 survived. The third one broke, here he can see the place where it broke in the fourth year. That is, 3 years all this went away completely. Nylon practically does not rot, especially if the nylon is oiled, it will last for a very long time, well, it's still not forever. That is, somehow, tights on the boot - temporary repair as you will see for 3 years, the repair went away by 4, it had already begun to break. The state is not very good. You see, the oil seal is already leaking oil, so you will have to do everything thoroughly or do nothing - change the car. Well, the fact itself lasted. This place still lasts, so covered in mud, oiled, but it lasts 4 years. So that's how temporary repairs are. I still remember that in my childhood, in front of the window, there were some nylon panty hoses hanging on a tree, which flew away from someone's balcony, and hung there for 10 years until another storm overwhelmed this tree along with these panty hoses. So the conclusion is this: ideally, the CV joints should be replaced with new ones, but as time for repairs, nylon tights will do.
