As silly as it sounds I got stumped for like an hour trying to figure out how to get that first step done by myself before seeing this video. So I gave up haha Was so frustrated and couldn't remember how to do it. I forgot I had to actually add the file in my file directory. A lot of guided projects skip right over this simple yet important step! Thanks for explaining this!
Anyone know what directory is best for creating these new files to be opened? Would you say desktop is just easier? I'd rather not have it on my desktop but places like Program Files don't seem to work. Thanks.
Folder “Program Files“ is not writable unless you are logged in as admin, since it basically is reserved for installed applications. That why it didn't work for you.
i dont think so, i think the terminal is to see if your code is working. I did console.log('hello world') while i had the terminal up and then ran the code and on the terminal it said hello world. meaning it worked. so i assume the terminal is to see your code working, if not then i dont know, i dont even know how to use a computer and now im trying to code.
@@scoldingtissue2217 ok but wait whyd you say "I dont think so"? What are you saying you "dont think so" to all he asked was a simple question dumbass. He didnt even say that he was or wasnt coding in the terminal, he simply asked why you *would* code in the terminal.
i downloaded vs code yesterday and i set it up in a rush due to excitement, but now i can see in my explorer every single folder that i have on my deckstop and i only want to see my project folder... what can i do? thank in advance for your help
Im new to VSCode too but if you right click on any folder, it gives you the option to Remove Folder from Workspace. This should be the solution you need!

why is creating a folder not intuitive at all. I should just be able to create a folder from the file drop down lol what in the world. thank you for the video, 4 years later Microsoft is still just as cryptic.
