Being an American who also lived considerably an expat life I can tell you one thing. THAT STATUE WAS BEAUTIFUL. I used to sit in that area, have beer, meet people... so many things to remember. Now Lenin died. It is not nostalgia. It is pure idiocy. Ukraine for me was 2nd home until I saw the fall of the statue. Now I have mixed feeling. Maybe they have lost it and frustration is clouding their judgment to the max.
Amazing down, i love see the peoples running crazy to destroy the statue... From Brazil, poor english ! Thanks to Christian Priest Paul Richard to send this link for the cathlolic communit in Brazil. (Na boa deixa eu com meu inglês) Viva o mundo livre !
I can sympathise that Lenin was a Communist madman who should not have been followed nor celebrated however these Ukrainians are not tearing down the statue because they don't like Lenin, they tore down the statue, vandalised it if you will because they don't like Russians and proof that Lenin is not behind the landmark destruction but rather Ukrainian racism for Russians is the recent war. Ukrainians could have torn down the statue when there was peace and harmony between Ukrainians and Russians yet they deliberately chose to do it today, during a fresh peace treaty. Ukrainians truly ought to reconsider their social problems of discrimination and racism.
You're right, this is not a matter of Ukrainian dislike for communism, or specifically Lenin, but an attempt to erase our common past, and outright Russophobia, as they target other statues as well, that are historically tied to Russia. rt.com/news/ukraine-kutuzov-monument-demoliotion-594/
Yeah let's give your money to the FMI and to the work bank and wait until you end up like Greece, Spain, Italy, etc. It is not about a system but about who is going to end up getting the money and power.
No matter how many statues the nazi from Sloboda bring down, you can't bring down the ideology behind it.This is what matters. Now that they destroyed that monument how did they get benefit from it?Did their wage raised, did the oligarchs stoped to exist? Someday all workers around the world will understand how communism is the only way for the world to live in peace and without exploiting each other.
I hope that the vandals responsible for this will be brought to justice. The Kiev government has to show that it can take responsibility, and bring the criminals who did this to court to be tried. This is unacceptable, the police did nothing to prevent this!? Surely it can't be legal. And this country is aspiring to join the EU!? No thanks. Clean up your act, Ukraine. The EU has little need of lawless states like yourself. Tearing down monuments is not the way to go.
А ведь местные Харьковчане были против сноса памятника! Привезли автобусами малолетних нацистов, типо это местные..Нацисты украинские, а вам не противно жить в домах которые коммунисты построили? Сносите их тоже..
