We've previously brought you the story of Yahya, the three-year-old Moroccan boy hidden from the world for his entire life because he was born with a deformity that left him without eyes, a nose or a functioning mouth. Then an incredible group of Australians came together to help him get a face that will help him lead a normal life. After two years in Australia, it was time for Yahya to return to Morrocco. This story contains confronting images and medical procedures. This story originally aired in 2016.

That's the greatest thing about young children - they don't see disabilities as ugly, scary or disgusting. They see a child their age who likes to play the same games they play and who is fun to be around. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could keep that perspective all our lives?

Did anyone else notice that his mother was relegated to the background throughout the entire video, and looked so sad even after his surgery? His advocate, the lady with the short black hair, was wonderful, but she took center stage in everything, and if anyone missed the beginning of the video, they would assume that she was his mother. I just felt really bad for his mom. She just looks like she FEELS she was forgotten. She must have been terrified for her child. I felt bad for her, but I'm glad this sweet child was helped. Yes, the advocate was instrumental in this, but the producers could have done a much better job of portraying the actual family.

This is how we were all born, without any ability to see the differences between us. Children are pure of heart and learn how to hate from their parents and other people in their lives that can have a bad influence on them. You need to be screened before you can adopt a dog or cat where I’m from but anyone can have a child, regardless of how fit they are for that responsibility. If we could all teach our children only love and acceptance, we would have no need for guns, weapons or war. We could all be free to believe in whatever God, religion or way of life we choose, without fear of prosecution. Let’s all stop saying that we need more people like this and begin with being like this ourselves. ☮️💜from🇨🇦

@Manny-zk4xe
@Manny-zk4xe 2 дня назад
@@Cecylita1985 you're definitely not wrong in feeling this! I hated how this was sold as "Two people who's lives were forever changed." Excuse me 2? Yes Fatima 100% was a huge help in this, it had a huge impact on her life for 2-3 years, and Yahya's treatment most likely would have been much different without her! However this is not about Yahya's benefactors, it's about him and his amazing parents that never gave up! Disabilities like this are highly stigmatized no-matter where you are in the world, but it can be especially brutal in small villages. You can see they live with this every time they worriedly look at the people around them to see if they've noticed the toddler under the blanket. Then you have the medical implications, particularly the pain Yahya endured before being "discovered" All this to say, the people who's lives were impacted the most were Yahya and his parents. I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the good Fatima did still. She was a very generous woman who gave her home, her time, and her finances to help this family. She helped translate and to care for the little boy, and eventually his baby sister, alongside his parents. In many ways this does make her family similar to that of "The Cool Auntie" who is most often an unrelated family friend, but still an active figure in that child's life. Fatima fits that bill, but the Cool Auntie doesn't rank higher than the childs mom. You can be giving while still being out of line.

I am really happy for the little guy and his family 🥺 May Allah make it easy for them. However, I feel quite uncomfortable about how the woman who is helping them is taking so much of the spotlight. Always being super emotional on cam and basically taking the role of the mother. In the mean time the mother is left in the background and I feel like she isn’t comfortable with that either. Like why is the mom in the backseat and the woman is sitting next to Yahya at 7:51 ? It’s just super strange in my opinion. I’m not questioning that the woman genuinely loves Yahya and cares for him but why is the mother being pushed away? It feels like an intrusion from the woman. I’ve been watching the videos about Yahya from the start and this never left my mind.

It looked to me like she herself was trying to stay on the background to give all space to the strangers who were able to save her child. It was for the sake of her child. If they asked from her to keep the child for years in Australia to heal and revalidate him, but that she was not allowed to stay, she would also have to accept it with the hope that he will stay alive and come back home. It is the same behaviour of all these mothers who for the child's sake have to sign adoption papers to get their child out of a dangerous situation. A mother's life is all about sacrificing herself.

I understand that Fatima raised the funds for Yahya but I thought she was too overbearing. She was too clingy with Yayha. She acted as though he was her child - pushing his pushchair, holding him at the consultant appointments etc. She would irritate me - a bit too full of herself.

The mother is so uncomfortable with the way the lady that has been helping them has taken over the little boy’s life. Her attachment to him is actually quite dangerous. She comes off as the type of person that will later try to take him away from the parents “for his own good.” Actually, after seeing the very end, both parents were very uncomfortable with her attachment to him.
@amears022

I said this on the last one and people got pissed off and couldn't see what I was trying to say. I think the woman is amazing for helping them in the first place and allowing them to stay with her, absolutely. But she did overstep a lot, like the doctor on the last episode had to remind her to translate what he was saying to Yahya's mum, she's always holding Yahya's hand etc. She acts as if she is the parent. I thought the mother seemed a little uncomfortable too but she's probably very grateful that she received the help. Anyway, I see what you're saying but people got mad I said that.
@EyeOvdaTiger
@EyeOvdaTiger 3 года назад
I think no matter how uncomfortable the parents or any parents maybe they'd put that to the side to insure the best interest of their son. If they were that uncomfortable they wouldn't have accepted any help whatsoever. They love their boy and it's ok for others to love him too. It doesn't mean that she'll take him away.

I,too, felt his mother was rather shoved out of the way and more focus put on his benefactor. Sort off Forgotten was the mother and father who nurtured him and loved him…just the way he was, or the kindness and good heart of the neighbor who taught his daughter to love and instead of shunning the boy reached out to the world to get him help. The doctors were remarkable and so caring.

Kudos to the Mama who shared him and the spotlight on affection for the little boy. His family loved him first and most, and some people in nearly all cultures might have let him die, thinking it was kindness. They loved him first and just as they do their o0ther child. It must have been very hard to lose him for 2 years and to have him bonding with this adoptive "auntie" while they worried and loved from afar. The parents are every bit as lovely as the kind woman who fell in love and intervened. I am happy that this experience helped her on her journey as a breast cancer survivor, too...as one who has been there, I am sure it must have done so.

Could be Fatima’s natural compassion that goes with the heavy responsibility she made with the “Yes” to help Yahya, she had to commit 100% of herself (physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially and many more which only Fatima will know) She goes all out, very expressive in showing love and kindness to Yahya and his parents ...feeling the sadness 😭or the joy when they all hugged each other....just like one big, happy family. Some could find it weird as most people don’t like to express themselves too much in public or they don’t want to be too involved with the emotional part etc.😅😅
