Its a song of great passionate longing for the renewal of a Jewish sovereignty in the land of Israel and a beautiful, joyful, sovereign Jerusalem (Yefei Nof, Mesos Tevel, Kiriya Le-melech Rav). Its a longing for spiritual fulfillment that can not be attained in exile. Words are drawn from works of Rabbi Judah HaLevi (1075 - 1141, spain) - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judah_Halevi, and Zeharia Aldrahari It yearns for the days of old, and mourns Israel's exile and the destruction of Jerusalem / the temple ( Ha'mon Rach'mai nic'mar ki ez'ke'ra kedem Ke'vodek asher galah ve'navek asher cha' rav). The phrase used to describe the overflowing yearning for the days of old - *Ha'mon Rach'mai nic'mar* - is also used in Genesis, (43: 20) - "*Deeply moved* [Nic'meru Rach'mav] at the sight of his brother, Joseph hurried out and looked for a place to weep" -- after Joseph finally saw his younger brother - Benyamin -- whom he hasn't seen for 20 years. The mastery of biblical language in the short poem with its subtle meanings for the hebrew (bible) reader, and the restrained and precisely pronounced interpretation sung by Ophir Ben Shitrit are indeed superb.
