From Argentina, I´m 56 years old, I went to a yidish school when I was a kid and learnt this beautiful language! I´m so excited, this is simply wonderful! Thanks!
This is so thoroughly enjoyable! I remember my mother singing these songs many years ago. It's wonderful to see that Yiddish is being revived all over. May it live and prosper!
yiddish is my primary language even though i speak english as well. this is beautiful! i know this because we did a play in school on some of these songs. we spoke yiddish in school and at home. but its not exactly the same dialect of yiddish as my parents came from israel and from poland and romania so the dialect is different nevertheless the same yiddish language. so few people speak it today only some jewish people speak it the ultra orthodox and you can hear it in germany but its not the yiddish we speak its german. so quite very small minority speak yiddish.
It is beautiful, but teachers made one mistake- there is no yidish word “chochek” in the song “We nemt men a bisele mazl”. It sould be “choch aza bisele”
Me encanta!
While the young people do a wonderful job within the limits of a sort-of "Broadway" song-and-dance routine, one might have hoped for songs from the vast folk repertoire of Yiddish songs (except the hoary Tumbalalaika).
