בראשית ב' וישלח תנא : (דברים ד) כי מי גוי גדול אשר לו אלהים קרבים אליו בכל קראנו אליו. _בא ראה כמה הם חביבים ישראל לפני הקדוש ברוך הוא_ שאין לך עם ולשון בכל העמים עובדי עבודה זרה שבעולם שיש לו אלוה שישמע אותם כמו שהקדוש ברוך הוא מזמן לקבל תפלות ובקשות של ישראל בכל שעה שהם צריכים להשמיע תפלה שהם רוצים בשביל אותה דרגה שלהם. בא ראה , הקדוש ברוך הוא קרא ליעקב ישראל , שכתוב לא יקרא שמך עוד יעקב כי אם ישראל יהיה שמך , ויקרא את שמו . מי ויקרא? זו שכינה , כמו שנאמר ויקרא אל משה . ויאמר לו אלהים , למעלה בארנו שהרי נשלם בכל כראוי , ואז התעלה בדרגתו ונשלם בשם זה , ועל זה ויקרא את שמו ישראל והרי נתבאר .
