באמת אסור להשתחוות בכל מקום על האבנים, אבל בבית המקדש מותר להשתחוות בפישוט ידיים ורגליים, כמו שכתוב במדרש: "'ואבן משכית לא תתנו בארצכם להשתחות עליה' - בארצכם אין אתם משתחוים על האבנים, אבל אתם משתחוים על האבנים שבמקדש".
